Balochistan terrorism came into focus as Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, met with students in a special session. The interaction, held under ISPR’s internship program, shed light on Pakistan’s security challenges and highlighted the courage of the people of Balochistan in countering extremist threats.
Session with Students
The DG ISPR addressed students participating in the internship program and discussed Pakistan’s overall security environment. He placed special emphasis on Balochistan, a region that has faced waves of violence but continues to display resilience. The discussion revolved around sacrifices made by both security forces and ordinary citizens in the fight against terrorism.
He reminded the students that stability in the country cannot be achieved through military strength alone. Instead, local communities play a decisive role in identifying threats and exposing those who attempt to destabilize peace.
Sacrifices for Peace
General Ahmed Sharif praised the sacrifices of Pakistan’s soldiers who have given their lives in the fight against terrorism. He also recognized the struggles of civilians, who have suffered alongside security personnel in this long battle. He said the blood and resilience of both groups are shaping a stronger and more secure future for the nation.
He told the students that the story of Balochistan is one of both struggle and hope. Despite years of turmoil, the people have shown remarkable courage by standing shoulder to shoulder with security forces.

Role of Local Population
The DG ISPR stressed that no operation against terrorism can succeed unless the local population itself stands up against extremists. Intelligence, he said, becomes effective only when ordinary citizens cooperate and point out terrorists and their facilitators.
In this context, he noted that the people of Balochistan have taken an active role in identifying hostile elements. Their willingness to confront those who exploit the region for violence is proving to be a game-changer in ongoing security operations.
People’s Courage
General Ahmed Sharif highlighted the determination of Baloch communities. He said their decision to resist extremist influence shows political maturity and social awareness. “The people of Balochistan are highly intelligent and far-sighted,” he remarked.
He explained that this shift in attitude has created new opportunities for peace and development in the province. With the people themselves becoming a strong line of defense, terrorist groups are losing their ability to hide or gain local support.
Importance of Awareness
During his session with the students, the DG ISPR underscored the importance of awareness and education in defeating extremist ideologies. He said terrorism does not only rely on weapons but also thrives on misinformation and exploitation of grievances. Educated youth, he pointed out, are better equipped to challenge false narratives and promote national unity.
The internship program, he added, is designed to create informed citizens who understand the challenges Pakistan faces. By interacting directly with the younger generation, the military hopes to bridge communication gaps and strengthen the bond between the armed forces and the public.
Building Trust with People
The DG ISPR also discussed how trust between the population and security institutions plays a vital role in counterterrorism efforts. He said the armed forces consider the people of Balochistan as partners in peace, not just beneficiaries of security operations.
He stressed that confidence-building measures, combined with economic and social initiatives, will further reduce space for extremist networks. Development, in his view, is as important as military action when it comes to defeating terrorism permanently.
A Message of Hope
General Ahmed Sharif’s remarks carried a message of hope for the people of Balochistan. He said their resolve and sacrifices have already begun to change the security landscape. While challenges remain, the active participation of the population ensures that terrorists will no longer find sanctuary in the province.
He urged students to carry forward this spirit of resilience and contribute positively to Pakistan’s stability. By remaining aware, united, and proactive, he said, the younger generation can help eliminate extremism and secure a brighter future for all.
