Pro-Palestine Demonstrators Rally in Berlin for Gaza Children

Rally in Berlin highlighted international support for Gaza’s civilians on World Children’s Day. Protesters from the group Grieving Doves held banners during a large-scale classical music concert at Berlin’s historic Gendarmenmarkt square. The event, organized to draw attention to the plight of Gaza’s children, is considered one of Germany’s largest classical music gatherings for humanitarian causes. One banner read: “We are mourning for more than 20,470 children.”

Global Calls for De-Escalation

Humanitarian agencies continue to urge both sides to respect international law and protect civilians. Doctors working in Gaza have appealed for more international medical volunteers, citing the overwhelming number of injured children. Diplomatic efforts to restore a ceasefire have stalled, but regional mediators are expected to meet again later this week.

The Israeli soldier injured by sniper fire underscores the fragility of the current security situation and the growing human toll on both sides. Without renewed negotiations, analysts warn the cycle of attacks and counterattacks will likely intensify, placing further strain on already battered communities.

Sniper Fire Hits Israeli Forces on Gaza’s Outskirts

An Israeli soldier injured by sniper fire on the outskirts of Gaza City this morning has been described as being in “moderate” condition, according to Israel’s Army Radio. The incident occurred around 12:30 GMT while troops were reportedly operating near the city’s northern perimeter. Military sources said the soldier received medical treatment on site before being evacuated to a nearby hospital. The army has not released further details about the soldier’s identity or the specific location of the attack.

Rising Tensions Along the Border

The shooting highlights the continuing volatility around Gaza City. Israeli forces have maintained positions in several areas following renewed operations earlier this month. Local observers report sporadic exchanges of fire between armed groups inside Gaza and Israeli troops stationed outside the urban center. No group has yet claimed responsibility for today’s sniper attack, and Israeli officials have not announced any retaliatory strikes.

Humanitarian Crisis Deepens Inside Gaza

As the fighting intensifies, Gaza’s main hospitals struggle to cope with the influx of casualties. The director of Al-Shifa Hospital, Mohammed Abu Salmiya, told AFP he was on duty this morning when two victims killed in an airstrike arrived at the emergency ward — his own brother and sister-in-law. “I was shocked and devastated to see the bodies of my brother and his wife,” he said. “Anything is possible now, as you receive your dearest ones as martyrs or wounded.”

The Palestinian Health Ministry says the death toll from Israeli attacks since October 2023 has reached more than 65,000, with over 166,000 people wounded. Since the breakdown of a ceasefire on March 18, more than 12,600 people have been killed and over 54,000 injured. Aid groups warn that medical supplies are running low and that child amputations are rising as hospitals work beyond capacity.
