Iran has urged the United Nations Security Council to take decisive action to compel Israel to fulfil its international obligations, warning that its continued actions across West Asia pose a serious threat to regional and international peace and security.
Iran’s ambassador and chargé d’affaires to the United Nations in New York, Gholamhossein Darzi, called on the Security Council to ensure Israel complies fully with international law, according to Iran’s state news agency IRNA.
Darzi said Israel’s continued aggression and destabilising activities across the region threatened peace and security, urging the international body to take effective measures in response.
His appeal places renewed attention on the role of the United Nations Security Council in addressing regional conflicts and enforcing international obligations.

Iran Highlights Regional and International Security Concerns
Darzi’s statement reflects Tehran’s concerns over the security situation in West Asia, where ongoing hostilities and political tensions have raised fears of wider regional instability.
Iran has repeatedly called for international action over what it describes as violations of international law. However, its allegations against Israel represent the Iranian government’s position and should be distinguished from independently verified findings.
The Security Council is responsible for maintaining international peace and security under the UN Charter. It can consider conflicts, adopt resolutions and, where the required support exists, impose measures to address threats to international peace.
UN Security Council Faces Calls for Greater Action
Iran’s appeal comes amid continuing diplomatic disagreements over regional security, military operations and the application of international law.
Darzi urged the Security Council to move beyond statements and take decisive steps to ensure compliance with international obligations.
Any substantive action by the council depends on its members’ positions and the applicable voting requirements, including the veto powers held by its five permanent members.
The latest appeal underscores the continuing diplomatic pressure on the United Nations to address conflicts across West Asia and pursue measures aimed at protecting regional stability.
