GTA 4 Remaster Rumored to Launch Before GTA 6

Rockstar Games may be gearing up for a surprise return to Liberty City with a GTA 4 Remaster, possibly launching before GTA 6. According to trusted GTA insider Tez2, a modern port of the 2008 classic could arrive by late 2025.

Insider Hints at Liberty City Comeback

Tez2 recently shared on GTA forums that someone at Rockstar hinted at the GTA 4 remaster being in development. The leak suggested the game could be released before the end of 2025. Speculation intensified when Rockstar took down the popular Liberty City Preservation Project mod, possibly clearing the way for an official remaster.

Which Platforms Could Get the Remaster?

The rumored GTA 4 Remaster is expected to target modern consoles such as PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. While there’s no confirmation yet, some fans wonder if the Nintendo Switch 2 might also be considered. Tez2 also mentioned that a Max Payne 3 port could follow the GTA 4 release, depending on Rockstar’s schedule.

A Smart Move Ahead of GTA 6

With GTA 6 delayed to 2026, revisiting Niko Bellic’s story could help bridge the gap and reignite interest in the franchise. Liberty City, the setting for GTA 4, also ties directly to GTA 6, as its new protagonist Lucia hails from there. A remaster could offer a strategic narrative link between both games.

More Rockstar Revivals on the Horizon

In addition to GTA 4, Rockstar is also working with Remedy on remakes of Max Payne 1 and 2.

Pakistan Mourns as Military Confirms 13 Martyrs in Indian Strikes

Two more Pakistani soldiers injured in Indian strikes earlier this month have succumbed to their wounds, raising the total martyrdom toll to 13, the military’s media wing confirmed on Wednesday. The attacks occurred during India’s cross-border aggression on the night of May 6-7, which triggered a brief but intense military exchange between the two nations.

Nation Pays Tribute to Fallen Soldiers

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the latest martyrs are Havaldar Muhammad Naveed of the Pakistan Army and Senior Technician Muhammad Ayaz of the Pakistan Air Force. Both had been hospitalized due to injuries sustained during India’s “cowardly and unprovoked” strikes.

“These brave sons of the soil fought with courage and resolve,” the ISPR said, calling their sacrifice a “timeless testament” to duty and patriotism. The military also offered prayers for the swift recovery of the 78 other personnel injured during the hostilities.

Retaliation and Ceasefire

In response to the strikes, Pakistan launched Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos, a large-scale retaliatory campaign that targeted Indian military installations across multiple regions. Military officials described the counteroffensive as “precise and proportionate.”

Pakistan strongly denied any involvement.

Conflict Ends, Tensions Linger

The intense conflict lasted nearly four days before the United States brokered a ceasefire on May 10. Although the guns have fallen silent, tensions remain high along the Line of Control.

Pakistan’s armed forces, along with the nation, continue to honor the martyrs and remain vigilant. The ISPR reiterated that any future violations of sovereignty will receive a decisive and full-spectrum response.

Trump Meets Syria’s New Leader, Signals Major Policy Shift

In a dramatic diplomatic turn, US President Donald Trump met with Syria’s interim president Ahmed al-Sharaa in Riyadh on Wednesday and announced plans to lift all sanctions on Syria, signaling a possible reset in US-Syria relations. The move marks a sweeping shift in Washington’s foreign policy toward Damascus.

Historic Meeting in Riyadh

The meeting took place on the sidelines of a US-Gulf summit, with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman present. Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan also joined virtually. Photographs of the event showed Trump shaking hands with Sharaa under the watchful eye of MbS.

A White House spokesperson confirmed that Trump encouraged Sharaa to normalize ties with Israel, despite longstanding tensions and suspicions from the Israeli government regarding Sharaa’s past.

Sanctions Lifted Despite Controversy

The announcement came one day after Trump, during a speech in Riyadh, stated his intention to lift sanctions on the Islamist-led Syrian government. This decision has sparked debate in Washington, given Sharaa’s previous affiliation with Al Qaeda, a connection he severed in 2016.

Israeli officials, skeptical of Sharaa’s leadership, have not yet issued a formal response. However, Trump emphasized that both MbS and Erdogan supported his decision to remove sanctions.

Sharaa’s Rise After Assad’s Fall

Sharaa, once the leader of al Qaeda’s branch in Syria, emerged as the country’s interim leader following the fall of Bashar al-Assad in December. His government has since struggled to assert full control over the country.

In March, Syria experienced renewed instability as Assad loyalists clashed with Sharaa’s forces, followed by retaliatory attacks that left hundreds of civilians dead. These events drew sharp criticism from Washington.

US-Syria Relations Reboot

Trump’s move represents a strategic recalibration. It also aligns with broader US interests in the Gulf, where he’s currently on a four-day tour. Saudi Arabia pledged $600 billion in US investments, while arms deals worth $142 billion were also signed.

Later today, Trump will continue his tour in Qatar, where additional economic agreements are expected. Meanwhile, his engagement with Syria’s leadership is likely to shape regional alliances for years to come.

Tense Calm at Wagah: Pakistan, India Swap Captured Soldiers

LAHORE, May 14, 2025 — In a rare sign of cooperation following weeks of military conflict, Pakistan and India conducted a prisoner exchange at the Wagah-Attari border on Wednesday under strict security arrangements.

Prisoners Released Amid Diplomatic Thaw

Pakistan handed over Indian Border Security Force (BSF) constable Purnam Kumar Shah to Indian officials at the border crossing. In return, India released Muhammad Allah, a soldier of Pakistan’s Punjab Rangers, to Pakistani authorities.

The details of how the two security personnel ended up in each other’s custody remain unclear. However, officials confirmed that the handover was the result of quiet diplomatic coordination between Islamabad and New Delhi.

Security Tight, Diplomacy Active

The handover took place in the shadow of heightened military tensions, just days after both countries agreed to a US-brokered ceasefire following an intense exchange of missile and drone strikes earlier this month.

Both governments remained tight-lipped on the operational details of the prisoner exchange, but sources confirmed it was carried out smoothly with no media access permitted during the handover.

Read: Modi’s Photo-Op Raises New Questions About Pakistan’s S-400 Strike Claim

War of Words Follows Truce

Despite the cooperation, political rhetoric continues to fuel regional tension. On Tuesday, Pakistan sharply rebuked Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for what it called “provocative and inflammatory” comments.

Modi, during his first post-truce national address, had claimed that India had only “paused” its military campaign and threatened to strike “terrorist hideouts” if provoked again.

Pakistan’s Foreign Office condemned the remarks, calling them a “dangerous escalation” and dismissing claims that Pakistan had sought the ceasefire out of desperation.

Commitment to Stability

Pakistan reiterated its commitment to the ceasefire, stressing that the agreement was the result of backchannel diplomacy involving several friendly nations. Officials emphasized Islamabad’s intent to maintain peace, while warning that any further provocation would receive a firm response.

The prisoner exchange at Wagah may represent a symbolic step toward restoring fragile calm—though mutual suspicion remains high across the Line of Control.

IMF Disburses $1.02 Billion to Pakistan Under Extended Fund

Pakistan’s foreign reserves have received a significant boost following the arrival of the second IMF tranche under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF). The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) confirmed on Tuesday that it has received SDR 760 million—equivalent to approximately $1.023 billion—from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Disbursement After Successful Review

The disbursement came after the IMF Executive Board completed the first review of Pakistan’s performance under the EFF program. The review meeting was held on May 9, 2025. Following the review, the IMF approved the immediate release of the second tranche to support Pakistan’s economic reform agenda.

Trump Calls Saudi-Israel Normalisation a ‘Dream’, But Says Timing Is Up to Riyadh

Washington, DC – US President Donald Trump has said he dreams of seeing formal diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel, but stressed that such a move must happen on Riyadh’s terms.

Speaking amid a backdrop of fresh multi-billion-dollar US-Saudi defence and economic agreements, Trump avoided tying any of the deals to the issue of Israel – a sharp contrast to the previous administration’s focus.

Shift From Biden-Era Priorities

While Joe Biden had made Saudi-Israel normalisation a cornerstone of his Middle East policy, Trump appears to be stepping back from those expectations. Analysts say this shift reflects growing frustration with Israel’s regional conduct, particularly its ongoing military campaign in Gaza.

“The Trump administration has made it clear they’re ready to move ahead with Saudi Arabia without requiring normalisation with Israel,” said Anna Jacobs, a fellow at the Arab Gulf States Institute.

According to Jacobs, Trump’s approach shows disillusionment with Israel’s escalating military operations in the region, especially in the Palestinian territories.

‘Time Is Not Right’

Kristian Coates Ulrichsen, a Middle East expert at the Baker Institute, also pointed out the timing problem. He noted that with Israel’s refusal to negotiate a Palestinian state, and a full-scale war in Gaza, there is little space left for any breakthrough.

“The White House seems to have accepted that a deal right now is not realistic,” Ulrichsen said.

Trump’s earlier diplomatic success – the Abraham Accords, which normalised ties between Israel and countries like the UAE – did not include the Palestinians. Critics argue that ignoring the core issue has undermined the credibility of such agreements.

War in Gaza Complicates Peace Push

The Gaza war, which erupted in October 2023, further complicated efforts. Even before that, Israel had intensified raids in the West Bank and expanded illegal settlements, all of which weakened the prospects of a two-state solution.

Biden pushed hard to include Saudi Arabia in the Abraham Accords, reportedly working on a deal until his final days in office. That plan included a security pact with Riyadh and US support for a civil nuclear programme, all in exchange for recognising Israel.

But Saudi Arabia remained firm on its 2002 Arab Peace Initiative, which conditions recognition of Israel on the establishment of a Palestinian state. That condition has proven a major obstacle.

Israel’s Hardline Stance

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected the land-for-peace formula. Instead, he continues to pursue bilateral deals that bypass Palestinian demands. This approach, say analysts, is one reason Saudi Arabia is hesitant.

“This Israeli government won’t even pretend to support a two-state solution,” said Jacobs. “That makes it almost impossible for Saudi Arabia to move forward.”

For now, it appears the dream of normalisation between Saudi Arabia and Israel is on hold. Trump has acknowledged that reality and is prioritising US-Saudi ties without preconditions.

“It’s their decision, in their own time,” Trump remarked.

As long as Gaza remains under siege, and Palestinian statehood is off the table, the road to regional peace remains blocked.

Viral Videos About India-Pakistan Skirmish Proven False

After the recent clashes between India and Pakistan ended in a ceasefire on May 10, several misleading videos began circulating online. These videos falsely claim to show scenes from the latest military conflict.

Claim: Nur Khan Airbase Hit by Missiles

One widely shared video shows a large fire and thick smoke. The user who posted it claimed that Indian missiles struck Pakistan’s Nur Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi.

Fact: Video Is From December 2023

This video is not from the recent conflict. It first appeared online in a Facebook post dated December 6, 2023. According to that post, the fire resulted from a collision between two fuel tankers near the old airport area in Rawalpindi.

The incident was reported at the time by various national news outlets. There is no evidence linking the fire to any military action or missile strike.

Claim: Pakistani Jets Shot Down Over Budgam

Another viral video with over a million views shows two aircraft being shot down in mid-air. The caption claimed that the Indian Air Force downed two Pakistani fighter jets over Budgam in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Fact: Video Is From Russia-Ukraine War

A reverse image search confirmed the video is not from Pakistan or India. It was published in September 2022 and shows Russian jets being shot down by Ukrainian forces during the ongoing war in Eastern Europe.

The same video was also posted by a former Ukrainian defense minister as part of war coverage from Ukraine, further proving it has no link to South Asia.

Verdict: Viral Videos Are Misleading and Unrelated

Both videos being shared online are old and unrelated to the May 6–10 India-Pakistan skirmish. They were taken out of context and falsely used to stir panic and confusion.

This misinformation highlights the growing issue of fake news spreading on social media during sensitive times. Users are strongly advised to verify before sharing such content.

Sharing misleading videos not only distorts facts but can also worsen tensions between countries. At a time when both sides are trying to maintain peace after a tense standoff, false claims can fuel unnecessary fear and hostility.

Indian Jets Did Not Fire Missiles: Shehzad Iqbal Reveals New Details

Senior journalist and anchor Shehzad Iqbal has revealed crucial information about the May 6–7 air skirmish between Pakistan and India. He confirmed that Indian Air Force (IAF) jets did not fire a single missile during Pakistan’s retaliatory strikes.

Indian jets failed to lock targets

Iqbal reported that Indian fighter jets failed to lock onto any Pakistani targets during the encounter. Their missile systems could not acquire guidance cues. This failure left them unable to respond effectively as Pakistan launched precision strikes.

According to Iqbal, this technological setback rendered the Indian response “ineffective and passive.” Indian jets remained in defensive mode and avoided escalation.

India backed off in later attempts

On May 9–10, the Indian Air Force again attempted to target Pakistani airbases. These included Nur Khan Airbase, a high-value location near Islamabad. However, the IAF refrained from entering Pakistani airspace.

Iqbal said Indian hesitation was due to the heavy losses it suffered during earlier engagements. The psychological impact of losing multiple aircraft deterred Indian jets from full engagement.

Pakistan enjoyed full airspace control

Sources confirmed that the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) received free airspace after the initial encounter. Indian jets avoided flying over critical areas, allowing PAF to operate without resistance.

During this window, Pakistan reportedly destroyed an Indian S-400 air defense system stationed at Adampur Airbase in Punjab, India. This high-end missile defense battery was one of India’s most prized military assets.

S-400 system destroyed, India tried to hide damage

Sources claimed the S-400 system was fully neutralized. To conceal this loss, Indian authorities quickly moved in a replacement S-400 unit from another location. This deception occurred just ahead of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the airbase.

Security experts noted that displaying a replacement unit was likely an attempt to mask battlefield losses and maintain the appearance of military strength.

Casualties confirmed among Indian pilots

According to sources, the Indian Air Force lost at least five aircraft in the May 6–7 retaliation. In those encounters, two Indian pilots died, while three others sustained injuries.

The exact nature of these injuries remains unclear. However, multiple sources within the defense community confirmed the deaths and injuries occurred during air combat or crash landings.

Tensions remain high

The situation along the Line of Control and surrounding air zones remains tense. However, the Pakistani military has stated it remains in full control of its airspace and is ready for any further provocations.

The Indian side has yet to officially confirm the S-400 damage or pilot casualties. However, defense analysts say the lack of retaliation and airspace silence from India supports Pakistan’s account.

A turning point in modern air warfare?

This latest confrontation between two nuclear-armed neighbors shows the growing complexity of aerial engagements. Despite India’s advanced missile systems, Pakistani forces appear to have outmaneuvered and outpaced them in recent encounters.

Shehzad Iqbal’s revelations indicate a clear shift in air superiority, at least during this round of skirmishes. The developments have sparked debates in both defense and diplomatic circles across South Asia.

As tensions simmer, regional watchers warn that miscalculation could lead to broader conflict. Both sides now face increasing pressure to de-escalate and prevent further clashes in the skies.

Death Toll from Israel’s Attacks on Gaza Rises Again Amid Global Outcry

Israeli forces continued their deadly assault on Gaza early Tuesday. Medical sources confirmed Israeli attacks killed at least 56 Palestinians since early morning.

Israeli strikes killed at least 50 people in northern Gaza alone. In the south, Israeli forces pounded Khan Younis. Relentless airstrikes and shelling buried entire families under rubble.

The assaults overwhelmed hospitals.

Ambulances struggle to reach the injured due to blocked roads and ongoing bombardment. Gaza’s health system, already crippled, is collapsing.

UN official delivers scathing remarks

Tom Fletcher, the UN’s top humanitarian coordinator, delivered a powerful speech at the Security Council. His words echoed frustration and urgency.

He accused Israel of deliberately creating inhumane conditions in Gaza. “Israel is deliberately and unashamedly imposing inhumane conditions on people in occupied Palestinian territory,” he told the council.

Fletcher’s remarks marked one of the strongest condemnations yet by a UN official.

Read: Modi’s Photo-Op Raises New Questions About Pakistan’s S-400 Strike Claim

Genocide under ICJ review

Fletcher reminded the council that the International Court of Justice (ICJ) is reviewing whether genocide is occurring in Gaza.

“The ICJ is considering whether a genocide is taking place in Gaza,” he said. “It will weigh the testimony we have shared. But it will be too late.”

The ICJ has already issued provisional measures. These measures aim to prevent further harm. But, Fletcher said, they have not been implemented.

Comparisons to past failures

He compared the current crisis to past global failures. Fletcher cited reports on Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Srebrenica, and Rwanda. In all these cases, the UN failed to act in time.

He warned that history may repeat itself. “So, for those killed and those whose voices are silenced, what more evidence do you need now?” he asked.

Call for immediate action

Fletcher challenged the international community. “Will you act decisively to prevent genocide and ensure respect for international humanitarian law?” he demanded.

He warned against excuses. “Years from now, people will be asking, ‘What did you do to stop the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza?’ Saying ‘we did all we could’ won’t be enough.”

Mounting civilian suffering

Civilians continue to bear the brunt of the conflict. Entire neighborhoods have been wiped out. Food, water, and medicine are scarce. Over 70% of Gaza’s population has been displaced.

Global calls for a ceasefire grow louder. But the violence shows no sign of ending.

With every passing day, the death toll rises. So does the international outrage.

As the world watches, Gaza bleeds.

Modi’s Photo-Op Raises New Questions About Pakistan’s S-400 Strike Claim

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the Adampur airbase, where he posed in front of an S-400 launcher, was intended to challenge Pakistan’s claim of having neutralized an advanced S-400 system.

Missing Components Spark Speculation

The photo-op lacked any visible radar or command-and-control units, which are critical parts of the S-400 system. Analysts, including US-based expert Christopher Clary, highlighted that in modern air strikes, command centers and radar are the primary targets—not necessarily the missile launchers themselves.

Comparisons were drawn to similar destroyed S-400 units seen during the Russia-Ukraine war. This has sparked speculation that Pakistan’s precision strikes may have successfully targeted those vital elements rather than the launcher.

Pakistan’s Hypersonic Strike Claim

On Saturday, Pakistan released visuals of a JF-17 Block III jet armed with CM-400AKG missiles—marking their first confirmed deployment.

The CM-400AKG is believed to fly at speeds exceeding Mach 4, using a high-altitude trajectory to strike from above. This approach makes it suitable for targeting air defence systems, especially radar and control components. Its passive radar seeker allows it to home in on radar emissions, increasing its lethality against systems like the S-400.

Strategic Implications

The S-400, developed by Russia’s Almaz-Antey, includes two batteries per system. Each battery consists of command units, two types of radar, and four launchers.

India Expels Pakistani Diplomat Amid Rising Ceasefire Tensions

India has expelled a Pakistani diplomat as ceasefire tensions continue to rise following last week’s brief but dangerous military standoff. The unnamed official was ordered to leave within 24 hours, accused of engaging in activities “not in keeping with his official status,” India’s Ministry of External Affairs announced on Tuesday.

Ceasefire Holds, But Tensions Simmer

The expulsion comes just days after India and Pakistan agreed to halt cross-border hostilities, which had pushed both nuclear-armed nations to the brink of war. The ceasefire stopped a wave of missile and drone strikes, but intermittent skirmishes continue along the Line of Control (LoC) in the disputed Kashmir region.

Pakistan, in a new statement, reaffirmed its commitment to the truce. However, it also issued a warning—any future Indian aggression will be met with a “forceful and proportional response.”

Modi’s Warning Sparks Controversy

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi escalated the rhetoric during his first address since the ceasefire. He stated that India had merely “paused” its military campaign and would not hesitate to strike again if provoked. Modi emphasized that India would target what he called “terrorist hideouts” across the border.

These remarks were condemned by Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which labeled the speech “provocative and inflammatory.” Pakistan accused India of threatening regional peace at a time when global powers are working to defuse hostilities.

Read: Trump Seeks $1 Trillion Deals in Middle East Amid Jet Controversy

Root of the Conflict

The flare-up began after a deadly shooting in Pahalgam, India-administered Kashmir, on April 22. The attack claimed the lives of 25 Indian tourists and a Nepalese national. India blamed Pakistan-linked groups for the assault, though Islamabad strongly rejected the allegations.

Diplomatic Fallout Continues

The expulsion of the diplomat signals worsening diplomatic ties despite the ceasefire. Pakistan maintains that peace can only be preserved through mutual respect and restraint, while India appears to adopt a hardened stance. As global leaders watch closely, the future of South Asian stability remains uncertain.

Wandering Supermassive Black Hole Caught Devouring a Star

Astronomers have captured a rare tidal disruption event (TDE), revealing a supermassive black hole roaming through space and tearing apart a star 600 million light-years from Earth. Unlike typical TDEs, this black hole wasn’t at the center of its galaxy. Instead, it was drifting about 2,600 light-years from the core—an unusual find that has shocked scientists.

Star’s Violent End

The event, named AT2024tvd, created a brilliant flash of radiation as the black hole consumed the star. This spectacle allowed scientists to track the black hole using NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope, Chandra X-Ray Observatory, and the Very Large Array. It’s the first TDE discovered away from a galactic center.

Read: iOS 19 to Launch AI-Powered Battery Optimisation for iPhones

Two Black Holes, One Galaxy

This galaxy is home to not one but two supermassive black holes. The larger, 100 million solar masses, sits in the core. The smaller, responsible for the flare, weighs in at around one million solar masses. Despite sharing the same galaxy, the black holes are not gravitationally bound.

Spaghettification and Bright Flares

During a TDE, a star is pulled and stretched by the black hole’s gravity in a process known as spaghettification. The shredded matter forms a glowing disk, emitting light across the electromagnetic spectrum. In this case, the event was first spotted by the Zwicky Transient Facility in California.

Clues from the Cosmos

Follow-up observations confirmed that the flare came from an off-center location. Debris from a PL-15 missile and ultraviolet imaging from Hubble pinpointed the exact position.

A New Era in Black Hole Hunting

This discovery could change how scientists search for hidden black holes. With upcoming telescopes like the Vera C. Rubin Observatory and NASA’s Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, researchers hope to catch more of these rare roaming giants in action.

Ryan Reynolds Nearly Landed in Jail Over Set Prank

Ryan Reynolds recently shared a wild story about a prank that almost landed him in serious legal trouble. During an appearance on the Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend podcast, the actor opened up about the moment on the set of his 2005 film Just Friends that made him fear jail time.

A Joke That Went Too Far

While filming in Regina, Saskatchewan, Reynolds teamed up with the art department for what they thought would be a harmless joke. They designed a fake sign to cover the official “Welcome to Regina” board. Their version read: “Welcome to Regina, which rhymes with fun.”

The prank got laughs initially, but things quickly escalated. Authorities didn’t find it amusing. “It’s one of the few times I’ve ever been scared of going to jail,” Reynolds admitted. “At first, it was considered vandalism.”

Read: Netanyahu Suggests Phasing Out U.S. Military Aid

From Vandalism to Comedy

Reynolds explained that the sign was meant to be temporary and snapped on without damaging the original. Still, the prank sparked enough controversy to earn him a stern warning. Eventually, officials softened their stance. “They thought it was funny because it snapped off. So, it went from vandalism to class,” Reynolds joked.

A Look Back at Just Friends

The character returns to his hometown to reconnect with his old crush, played by Amy Smart. The cast also included Anna Faris and Chris Klein.

Reynolds’ Signature Humor

This story highlights Ryan Reynolds’ well-known sense of humor and willingness to push the envelope. Although the prank was risky, it became a memorable part of the filming experience. His playful nature, both on and off screen, continues to entertain fans years after the movie’s release.

Even if it almost cost him a night in jail, the “Regina sign prank” has become another legendary tale in Reynolds’ long list of antics.

Mike Hesson Named Pakistan’s White-Ball Head Coach

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially appointed Mike Hesson Pakistan coach for the white-ball format of the men’s national team. The decision comes after a thorough review of multiple candidates following the vacancy left post-Pakistan’s tour of New Zealand in April.

Khawaja Asif Declares Modi’s Political End Near

Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif delivered a strong statement against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, claiming that Pakistan India tensions have reached a tipping point and Modi’s political career is nearing its end. Asif emphasized that the Indian public will decide Modi’s fate, highlighting growing discontent in and outside India’s parliament.

Mounting Criticism of Modi

Speaking to reporters in Islamabad, Asif said Modi failed to address the depth of the crisis during a recent national address. He noted that Indian lawmakers and international voices have increasingly criticized Modi’s policies. “The people of India will decide the future of Modi. His days are numbered,” Asif stated.

Terrorism Tops Pakistan’s Concerns

Asif placed terrorism at the center of Pakistan’s grievances. He said Pakistan has suffered the most from terrorism, a problem worsened by Indian actions. Referring to Modi’s previous comments about probing terrorism, Asif said such investigations are essential due to regional instability.

“Terrorism has plagued Pakistan for over 25 years. The global community now sees this. India’s role in this must be examined,” he asserted. Asif also criticized the lack of international recognition for Pakistan’s efforts in the fight against terrorism, stressing that the country has paid a heavy price.

Kashmir and Water Disputes on the Agenda

Kashmir remains a non-negotiable issue for Pakistan, Asif said, calling for serious dialogue to resolve the long-standing conflict. He also addressed concerns over the Indus Waters Treaty, accusing India of politicizing the agreement. Asif insisted the treaty must be respected as a binding legal accord.

India Accused of Backing Global Terrorism

In a bold accusation, Asif labeled India as a global sponsor of terrorism. He cited instances of Indian-linked terrorism in Pakistan, Canada, and the US. “We’ve been fighting on both eastern and western fronts for 25 years.

Trump Seeks $1 Trillion Deals in Middle East Amid Jet Controversy

Former US President Donald Trump has launched a high-stakes Trump Saudi economic tour, starting in Riyadh. He aims to secure $1 trillion in investments and finalize a $100 billion arms deal with Saudi Arabia. The visit, packed with key figures like Elon Musk and Marco Rubio, signals Trump’s aggressive push to reshape US economic ties in the region.

Major Economic Ambitions

Trump landed in Saudi Arabia for a four-day Middle East tour focused on economic deals. Greeted by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, he seeks to attract major investments into US infrastructure and energy. He’s expected to announce sweeping agreements alongside leaders from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE.

Elon Musk is accompanying Trump and will speak at the Saudi-US Investment Forum. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth are also part of the delegation.

Arms Deals and Regional Focus

During the Riyadh visit, Trump is expected to offer an arms package exceeding $100 billion. He will also attend a state banquet and travel to Qatar and the UAE. Although skipping Israel, he may visit Turkey for potential talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Jet Gift Sparks MAGA Backlash

Trump faces intense criticism from his MAGA base over plans to accept a $400 million luxury jet from Qatar to replace Air Force One. Right-wing voices, including Ben Shapiro and Laura Loomer, argue the gift contradicts Trump’s “America First” promise. Shapiro criticized the move as a betrayal, citing Qatar’s ties to controversial groups like Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood.

Republican lawmakers, including Senator Rand Paul, raised concerns about violating the US Constitution’s emoluments clause. Paul warned of the appearance of impropriety and questioned the wisdom of accepting such an extravagant gift.

Inflation Slows, But Tariff Worries Persist

Meanwhile, US inflation slowed to 2.3% in April, just after Trump announced his “Liberation Day” tariffs. Economists warn that tariffs could soon drive prices up. Fed Chair Jerome Powell stated the tariffs may delay inflation reaching the 2% target for at least a year.

The business community now waits to see the real cost of Trump’s economic gamble.

Indian Attacks Kill 51 in Pakistan, Ceasefire Under Strain

Pakistan’s military has confirmed that Indian aggression in AJK and nearby regions killed 51 people—40 civilians and 11 soldiers. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) described the attacks on May 6 and 7 as “unprovoked and reprehensible,” targeting homes and non-combatants.

Civilian and Military Losses

Among the martyred civilians were 7 women and 15 children. At least 121 people were injured, including 10 women and 27 children. Eleven troops, including personnel from both the air force and ground units, lost their lives while defending Pakistani territory. The ISPR released their names, honoring their sacrifice as symbols of courage and national devotion.

Names of Fallen Soldiers

The martyred included:

  • Naik Abdul Rehman

  • Lance Naik Dilawar Khan

  • Lance Naik Ikramullah

  • Naik Waqar Khalid

  • Sepoy Muhammad Adeel Akbar

  • Sepoy Nisar

  • Squadron Leader Usman Yousuf

  • Chief Technician Aurangzeb

  • Senior Technician Najeeb

  • Corporal Technician Farooq

  • Senior Technician Mubashir

Retaliation and Ceasefire

Pakistan responded with what the military called “precise and measured retaliation.” The conflict peaked after India launched Operation Sindoor, including missile strikes and drone incursions. In response, Pakistan launched Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos, downing five Indian jets and 77 drones.

Despite the announcement of a ceasefire on May 10—brokered by the United States—tensions remain high. Gunfire and explosions were reported even after the agreement, particularly along the Line of Control.

Diplomatic Moves and Misinformation

Talks were held via military hotlines. Pakistan’s DGMO Maj Gen Kashif Abdullah and India’s Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai agreed to maintain the ceasefire. However, Pakistan emphasized it did not request the truce. ISPR Chief Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry stated that India initiated the ceasefire after facing Pakistan’s strong response.

Chaudhry also denied claims that an Indian pilot was in custody, calling them baseless. He described war between nuclear powers as “absurd,” but affirmed Pakistan’s readiness to defend itself.

Nation Responds

Pakistan observed Youm-e-Tashakkur (Day of Thanks) to mark what it considered a successful defence of its sovereignty, despite the fragile calm that now hangs over the region.

India’s Ceasefire: A Tactical Retreat, A Strategic Opportunity for Pakistan

The guns have fallen silent. But the failure still echoes across New Delhi. After weeks of threats, airspace violations, and diplomatic bluster, India accepted a ceasefire — without gaining anything concrete. For Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, this is more than a tactical pause. It’s a symbolic setback.

France, Israel, and Russia: Disappointed Allies

France is among the most disillusioned. The Rafale jets, long sold as unbeatable war machines, failed to impress. Indian pilots did not demonstrate elite performance. The jets never took off in real combat and lost their aura of invincibility.

Israel has reasons to worry too. Its Harop drones, once considered cutting-edge, were downed repeatedly. These drones looked more like clay pigeons than battlefield assets. The damage to Israel’s arms reputation is undeniable.

Russia also faces embarrassment. Its S-400 missile defense system failed to block key strikes. The much-hyped shield did not live up to expectations. Years of marketing and deals now stand questioned.

And then there’s the United States. Washington invested heavily in building India as a strategic counterweight to China. But the reality of India’s military readiness has disappointed. The US must now reassess its assumptions. Even Western weapons — long viewed as superior — were neutralized by Chinese-made J-10 jets and Pakistani missiles.

Pakistan: A Rare Moment of Strategic Clarity

Unlike India, Pakistan comes out stronger from the crisis. It maintained restraint, responded effectively, and revealed its preparedness. But this advantage must lead to policy reform — not just celebration.

One urgent area is the Indus Waters Treaty. During the conflict, water security resurfaced as a major issue. Yet, the ceasefire closed the pressure window — for now.

Pakistan cannot wait for the next crisis. It must act now, diplomatically and legally. Bilateral talks with India have failed before. Pakistan should lead a coalition of lower riparian states to demand equitable water sharing. Other nations along the Nile and Ganges face similar upstream manipulation.

International Law Is On Pakistan’s Side

The Madrid Declaration of 1911 says no state can alter a shared river to harm another. The Montevideo Declaration of 1933 warns against exploitative use of water. The Helsinki Rules of 1966 go further, giving all basin states a fair share.

The 1997 UN Convention on International Watercourses supports these views. It says people living along the river have first claim. No country can divert water to the harm of others without agreement.

India, as the upper riparian, cannot legally cut or block water flow to Pakistan. But it continues to build dams and manipulate rivers in violation of the treaty and global law.

Climate Crisis Adds New Danger

Glaciers in Kashmir feed the Indus basin. Rapid melt is shrinking these glaciers. India’s unregulated activity is worsening this trend. The result? Reduced water flow, environmental risks, and more tension.

Pakistan must push for a regional environmental pact. This should include joint data sharing and a plan to slow glacial melt. Ignoring this will mean disaster — not just for Pakistan, but for the whole region.

Reframing the Security Narrative

Pakistan must also address global perceptions. Since 2015, the composite dialogue with India has stalled. Restarting talks is vital — not as a favor to Delhi, but to counter the narrative that links Pakistan with terrorism.

At the same time, Pakistan must declare its right to respond to aggression. If India claims preemptive strike rights, so can Pakistan. Operation Bunyanun Marsoos showed that deterrence lies in strength — not just defense.

Conclusion: A Strategic Turning Point

Pakistan has lost much over the decades — lives, money, and reputation. That chapter must end. Now is the time to shift from reacting to crises toward shaping regional strategy with clarity and confidence.

The latest flare-up has created a unique opportunity. To seize it, Pakistan must look beyond military wins. It must adopt a long-term vision — one rooted in law, diplomacy, and smart security.

History rewards nations that pair restraint with resolve. It’s time Pakistan became one of them.

Supreme Court Adjourns Hearing of Zahir Jaffer’s Appeal in Noor Mukadam Case to May 19

ISLAMABAD – The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Monday adjourned the hearing of Zahir Jaffer’s appeal against his death sentence in the Noor Mukadam murder case until May 19.

A three-member bench led by Justice Hashim Kakar, with Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim and Justice Ali Baqar Najafi, heard the high-profile case.

Zahir Jaffer’s defence counsel Salman Safdar and state prosecutor Shah Khawar appeared before the court. Safdar requested a delay, citing the need to file more documents.

Justice Kakar expressed dissatisfaction with the repeated delays. “Why should we grant an adjournment when you are present in court?” he asked sharply.

He criticised the culture of unnecessary postponements in Pakistan’s judicial system. “In our court, cases are only delayed if a judge or a lawyer dies,” he said.

Justice Kakar added that such delays could ruin lives. “If someone spends 20 years on death row and is then freed, what should he think of the system?” he questioned.

He held lawyers accountable for stalling cases. “It’s not the system’s fault. It’s ours for entertaining adjournments,” he remarked. “A man acquitted after decades might as well throw the court file in our face.”

Justice Najafi intervened, urging both parties to avoid premature responses. He told Shah Khawar to respond after the defence formally submits the application.

The court then adjourned the hearing until May 19, instructing both legal teams to come fully prepared.

Background of the Case

Noor Mukadam, a 27-year-old woman, was brutally murdered in Islamabad’s F-7/4 sector on July 20, 2021.

Police arrested the main accused, Zahir Jaffer, at the crime scene. Noor’s father, Shaukat Mukadam — a former Pakistani diplomat — filed an FIR the same day.

The FIR stated Noor had been “beheaded after being killed with a sharp weapon,” sending shockwaves across the country.

In February 2022, a sessions court sentenced Zahir Jaffer to death. He also received a 25-year prison term with hard labour and a fine of Rs200,000.

Two household staffers, Iftikhar and Jameel, were sentenced to 10 years each. Other co-accused, including Jaffer’s parents and TherapyWorks employees, were acquitted.

In March 2023, the Islamabad High Court upheld Jaffer’s death sentence. It also converted his 25-year sentence into another death penalty.

Zahir Jaffer later challenged the IHC verdict in the Supreme Court in April 2023.

Shaukat Mukadam has repeatedly urged the top court to fast-track the case. On Noor’s birth anniversary, he held a press conference calling for justice and timely decisions.

Public Reaction and Expectations

The Noor Mukadam case has become a symbol of justice for victims of gender-based violence in Pakistan.

The public continues to demand swift resolution. Legal experts say further delays could damage public trust in the judicial process.

With the next hearing scheduled for May 19, all eyes are now on the Supreme Court. Will justice be served without more delays? The nation waits.

Pakistan Stock Exchange Extends Record-Breaking Rally, Surges Past 120,000 Mark

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) extended its record-breaking rally on Tuesday. The benchmark KSE-100 Index surged past the 120,000 mark again, fueled by a ceasefire with India, IMF funding approval, and hopes for tax relief in the upcoming federal budget.

Investor confidence remained strong following Monday’s historic session. Markets opened with momentum as diplomatic progress and improved economic indicators lifted sentiment.

Market Soars on Positive Developments

The KSE-100 Index rose to an intraday high of 120,067.12 points. This marked a gain of 2,769.39 points, or 2.36%, from the previous close of 117,297.73. It was the index’s return to the 120,000 level last reached on April 4.

Ahfaz Mustafa, CEO of Ismail Iqbal Securities, said early trade reflected the strong rally that began Monday. “Mutual funds were very active yesterday, and that trend is expected to continue,” he said. “The positive events like the IMF approval and rate cut were previously overshadowed by tensions with India. Now, these are being factored in.”

He also noted another positive sign — reports that the upcoming budget is being prepared using an exchange rate of Rs290 per US dollar, suggesting inflation may remain under control.

IMF Tranche and Climate Funding Confirmed

Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb told Reuters that Pakistan would receive a $1 billion tranche from the IMF on Tuesday. This is part of the ongoing $7 billion Extended Fund Facility (EFF).

Additionally, the IMF Executive Board has approved $1.4 billion under the Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF) to fund climate-related programs.

Aurangzeb downplayed the financial impact of recent military tensions. He said Pakistan’s economic outlook remained stable and would not need revision. He confirmed that budget discussions with the IMF will take place between May 14 and May 23, with the federal budget expected to be finalized in three to four weeks.

Tax Relief on the Way

The government is working on a proposal to reduce the income tax burden by up to Rs50 billion for the salaried class. This move aims to ease pressure on middle-income earners without altering overall revenue targets.

In the first ten months of FY25, salaried taxpayers paid over Rs450 billion — significantly higher than what retailers and exporters contributed combined.

Inflation Drops, Interest Rate Cut

Adding to market optimism, inflation in April dropped to a historic low of 0.3% year-on-year. The State Bank of Pakistan responded by cutting its policy rate by 100 basis points, lowering it to 11%. This marks a shift toward a pro-growth policy stance.

Monday’s Surge Sets the Tone

On Monday, the KSE-100 Index recorded its biggest single-day gain in history, climbing 10,123.09 points or 9.45%. This came after Pakistan and India agreed to a surprise ceasefire, easing fears of a prolonged conflict.

The truce, reportedly facilitated by the United States, brought calm to the region and unleashed a wave of investor buying across sectors.

With fresh funding, diplomatic stability, and positive budget signals, Pakistan’s stock market continues to gain ground. Analysts expect this bullish trend to hold as confidence builds ahead of the new fiscal year.
