Amid rising regional tensions, the Pakistani government convened an in-camera session on Sunday to update political leaders on Pakistan national security and the evolving situation with India.
Focus on National Unity
State broadcaster PTV News reported that the briefing brought together key leaders from all major political parties. It served as a platform for civil-military leadership to align national strategy, reinforcing unity in the face of external threats. The DG ISPR emphasized that Pakistan is a peaceful nation but remains fully prepared to defend itself.
“If aggression is imposed on Pakistan, our forces are ready to deliver a strong response,” said Lt Gen Chaudhry, assuring political stakeholders of military preparedness. He also stressed the importance of peace in the region and reiterated that Pakistan does not seek conflict.

Tensions After Kashmir Attack
The meeting followed the April 22 attack in Pahalgam, located in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), which claimed 26 lives, mostly tourists. India blamed Pakistan for cross-border involvement, a claim Islamabad has firmly rejected. Pakistan has instead called for a neutral international investigation, labeling the incident a “false flag operation.”
Diplomatic and Military Readiness
Information Minister Attaullah Tarar briefed party leaders on the government’s diplomatic efforts. He highlighted Pakistan’s formal denials of Indian allegations and its outreach to global powers to de-escalate the situation. According to Radio Pakistan, the briefing also addressed India’s provocative actions, including visa cancellations, threats of airstrikes, and suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty.
Strength Through Solidarity
As India escalates its rhetoric and military posture, Pakistan continues to urge restraint and diplomacy. Still, leaders made it clear during the briefing that any misadventure from across the border would be met with swift and decisive action.
