Karachi: Pakistani cricketer Fakhr Zaman has been conferred the honorary rank of Lieutenant in the Pakistan Navy today in a ceremony at the Naval Headquarters.
The ceremony was graced by many military and PCB officials, and some former cricket players as well.
According to Pakistan Navy spokesman, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi conferred the honorary rank of Lieutenant on Fakhr Zaman.
At the event, Zaman’s family, military and civilian officials, and PCB officials were also present.

The cricketer was awarded the honorary rank on account of his outstanding performance in the field of cricket and his commitment to the Pakistan Navy.
Zaman had joined the as a sailor in Navy Operations Branch in 2007. During his which, the 30-year-old cricketer won a number of awards for Pakistan Navy in the field of cricket.
Before this, Fakhr Zaman was named the best player of the tournament in the International Defense Cricket Challenge Cup held in Australia in 2012.
Zaman has also set several records in the international cricket up till now, and also been awarded a certificate of appreciation.

Addressing the ceremony, Amir-ul-Bahr congratulated the player and his family.
The Naval Chief said that Pakistan Navy is playing its due role to promote various sports in Pakistan and will not cease to support the national players.
