Islamabad: The Russian Presidential Envoy for Afghanistan, Ambassador Zamir Kabulov, on a day-long visit to Pakistan, called on General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS).

Officials on Friday discussed issues of mutual concern, regional security, particularly developments in the Afghan peace process, during the meeting.

The COAS advised the ambassador that stability was in the better interests of the region in both states.’

The visiting foreign official noted Pakistan’s constructive position in the Afghan peace process and claimed that “Pak-Russia relations will continue to prosper manifolds.”

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and other government officials were also scheduled to meet President Putin’s envoy.

As per the FO spokesperson, during the meetings, the Afghan reconciliation process, recent developments in the region, and bilateral relations will be discussed.

Foreign Office spokesman Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri had reported earlier in the day that Kabulov had arrived in Islamabad for one day.

Both countries reiterated their attention to strengthening the bilateral relationship.
