Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan on Thursday has received a covid-19 jab in order to encourage coronavirus vaccination and to prevent the spread of the virus.

According to the Prime Ministers’ office, Premier Khan appealed to Pakistanis to start taking precautions and follow all the safety protocols amid the third wave of the pandemic.

The vaccine was delivered by the Federal Government Hospital’s employees, according to Federal Parliamentary Secretary National Health Services Nausheen Hamid.

Previously, before the prime minister, President Arif Alvi, and the First Lady, Samina Alvi, also received coronavirus jab to prevent the spread.

Pakistan launched its COVID-19 vaccination program in February, following the delivery of the first batch of China-gifted vaccine doses, with frontline health workers getting priority, and on March 10, the country began vaccination for the general population, beginning with people aged 60 and up.

COVID-19 cases are on the rise in the region, with 3,495 cases registered in the last 24 hours. 61 people were known to have died as a result of the disease during this time frame.

There have been 615,810 cases and 13,717 deaths in Pakistan so far.
