London-Farah Kazmi: Prominent Urdu poet and critic Naqqash Kazmi has died in Karachi due to the terrible Indian Delta virus.

He has been undergoing treatment at Bahria Town International Hospital in Karachi since last week.

Kazmi was born on July 8, 1944, in the house of Fasihullah Kazmi, a well-known Urdu and Persian poet from Jaunpur. The poet was also the author of ‘Rang-e-Safar’, ‘Daman-e-Gul’ and ‘Mirasat’.

The 77-year-old Naqqash Kazmi was also awarded the Presidential Award Medal of Excellence Urdu Letrature.

The late Naqqash Kazmi played an active role in the Arts Council Karachi and did his Masters in Linguistics, Urdu Literature and Political Science.

His funeral prayers were offered at Imambargah Bab-ul-Alam while burial was held in Hussain Valley.

Among the mourners are two sons Ramesh Kazmi, Danish Kazmi and daughter Shahronia Kazmi.
