On Saturday, England entered the semi finals race rendering Sri Lanka out of the T20 tournament.

England needed this win to stay in the race. If England had lost, Australia would have gone through to the semi finals.

England holds the second place position in Group 1 after winning against Sri Lanka by four wickets.

Sri Lanka started the match with a promising outlook scoring 80 on the loss of two wickets. But as their main man Pathum Nissanka was out, the Sri Lankan team crumbled.

Sri Lanka made the total score of 141 over the loss of 8 wickets.

Mark Wood of England performed excellently taking 3 wickets and giving away just 26 runs.

Just like Sri Lanka, England also started a promising innings by scoring 75 runs over no loss. But they also faced a rough patch when they scored 115 on the loss of 5 wickets, against Sri Lankan spinners.

But England made a huge comeback as Ben Stokes took control of the situation and scored massive 42 runs taking England into the semi finals.
