2022 was a rough year for Pakistan because of heavy rains and floods that engulfed the areas of Sindh, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The floods damaged thousands of properties, cut short all the power in the areas, killed 1700 people, and injured more than 13000 people.
Pakistan has highlighted the issues regarding climate change and its impact on the country and how the international community must acknowledge and support Pakistan in its cause related to the post-floods situation.
The Geneva conference is just around the corner on the 9th of January, 2023. Pakistan will attend the ‘international conference on Climate Resilient Pakistan’.
Pakistani Foreign Minister, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari telephoned Saudi Arabs prince, Faisal Al Farhan Al Saud, and discusses the upcoming Geneva conference.
Saudi Foreign Minister conveyed strong support from Saudi Arabia for Pakistan’s initiatives regarding post-flood reconstruction and rehabilitation.
Also, Pakistan thanked Saudi Arabia for their constant support in strengthening Pakistan against natural disasters.
