ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Falak Naz faced suspension from the Senate on Tuesday for allegedly hurling abuse at senior politician Faisal Vawda during a heated Senate session. The incident occurred while Vawda delivered a controversial speech, prompting a strong reaction from the PTI senator.

The verbal clash took place during a session presided over by Senate Chairman Yusuf Raza Gilani. Vawda’s speech, which included sharp criticism of PTI and its leadership, escalated tensions within the chamber. As per the details, Vawda made critical remarks about the founder of PTI, sparking an immediate response from Senator Naz. Confronting Vawda directly, Naz questioned, “How dare you take our leader’s name?” The exchange quickly escalated into a shouting match, with both sides trading harsh words.

Chairman Senate Takes Action

The incident prompted swift action from Senate Chairman Yusuf Raza Gilani, who suspended Senator Falak Naz’s membership for two days. Gilani cited her inappropriate language as the reason for the suspension and adjourned the session for the day. Despite calls for calm from the chairman, Naz refused to apologize for her remarks, leading to the disciplinary action.

Vawda, who had earlier taken the floor to speak on various political issues, welcomed the suspension, demanding stricter actions to maintain decorum in the legislative institution. He argued that such behavior should not be tolerated, particularly in the country’s highest legislative body.

Faisal Vawda’s Speech Sparks Controversy

During his address, Faisal Vawda spoke on political and military accountability, specifically praising Army Chief General Asim Munir for initiating reforms within the military. Vawda emphasized that the army’s efforts were aligned with Pakistan’s best interests. He criticized PTI for its inconsistent stance on amendments to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), accusing the party of initially opposing the amendments but later benefiting from them.

Highlighting the growing political divide in Pakistan, Vawda urged PTI to prioritize national stability over internal conflict. He also took aim at PML-N, stressing that accountability should be upheld across all institutions, including political parties.

Vawda’s most scathing remarks, however, were directed at PTI members, including Ali Amin Gandapur, whom he accused of plotting to destabilize the country. He referenced Gandapur’s speech, accusing him of irresponsibly promoting unrest, adding, “If you speak of breaking the jail, the responsibility of PTI founder also falls on you [Ali Amin Gandapur].”

Tensions Rise in Senate

The remarks incited protests from PTI senators, who objected to Vawda’s accusations. Meanwhile, government senators defended Vawda, further inflaming tensions in the chamber. Vawda warned PTI members, “Be patient. This is just the beginning. The institutions and government are too weak to stop your abusive language.”

Despite repeated calls for order by Chairman Gilani, the heated exchange continued, culminating in the suspension of Senator Falak Naz. PTI members demanded an apology from Vawda for his inflammatory remarks, but their calls were ignored.
