K-Electric (KE), Karachi’s main electricity provider, has announced a scheduled Load Shedding on January 10, 2025. The shutdown will affect 49 out of the city’s 2,001 feeders. The maintenance work will focus on transformers in various areas.

KE has confirmed that the maintenance work will take place between 8:00 AM and 6:30 PM. Residents in affected areas will experience temporary power outages lasting between 8 to 10 hours. These outages may disrupt daily activities, leaving residents to prepare for extended periods without electricity.

The electricity provider explained that this maintenance is necessary to ensure reliable power supply in the future. However, residents have expressed concern about the inconvenience caused by such long durations of load shedding.

Details of Affected Areas and Timings

The outages will take place at different times in various neighborhoods. Areas like Defence, Clifton, Korangi, Liaquatabad, and Gulbahar are among those listed. Some key feeders affected include:

  • Afzal Motors: 9:59 AM to 4:59 PM
  • Defence-12: 8:59 AM to 2:59 PM
  • Holy Family: 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
  • Korangi Zoo: 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM

KE Urges Residents to Plan Accordingly

KE has urged residents in affected areas to plan their day in advance to minimize the impact of the outages. It recommended residents charge essential devices and make alternative arrangements where possible.

The electricity provider stated that maintenance work is essential for upgrading Karachi’s power infrastructure. KE apologized for the inconvenience and assured consumers of its commitment to improving electricity services.
