Founder and Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan Sentenced to 14 Years in 190 Million Pound Case. The decision in the 190 million pound case against Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi was announced by Judge Nasir Javed Rana at Adiala Jail.

For the ruling, Imran Khan was brought to Adiala Jail, where Bushra Bibi and PTI Chairman’s legal team, including Barrister Gohar, Shoaib Shaheen, Salman Akram Raja, and others, were also present.

The court sentenced Imran Khan to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of 1 million PKR. Bushra Bibi was sentenced to 7 years of imprisonment and fined 500,000 PKR.

In his decision, the judge stated that if Imran Khan fails to pay the fine, he will face an additional 6 months in prison. Similarly, if Bushra Bibi does not pay the fine, she will have to serve an additional 3 months in jail.

The court also ordered the Al-Qadir Trust University to be placed under government control. Following the verdict, Bushra Bibi was taken into custody from the courtroom. After announcing the verdict, Judge Nasir Javed Rana left the court.

Strict Security Measures

Strict security arrangements were made inside and outside Adiala Jail. To maintain law and order, female police officers and plainclothes personnel were deployed.

The trial of the 190 million pound reference related to the Al-Qadir Trust University against Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi was completed in one year, with over 100 hearings held during the proceedings.

The court reserved its judgment on December 18, 2024, and initially set December 23, 2024, as the date for announcing the decision. However, the verdict was not announced on that date, and subsequent dates of January 6 and January 13, 2025, were also postponed. Finally, the verdict was announced on January 17, 2025.

Allegations Against Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi

Imran Khan was accused of using his influence to have a secret agreement approved by the federal cabinet. Former Accountability Advisor Mirza Shahzad Akbar allegedly signed a confidentiality deed with the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA) on December 6, 2019. Bushra Bibi was accused of playing a key role in the illegal activities of the PTI chairman.
