Uganda’s Ministry of Health declared an Ebola outbreak on Thursday. The announcement came after a 32-year-old male nurse died from the Sudan strain of the virus. This marks the eighth Ebola outbreak in Uganda’s history.

Ebola is a highly contagious virus that spreads through direct contact with infected bodily fluids. Symptoms include fever, headache, diarrhea, vomiting, and extreme body weakness.

According to WHO, the fatality rate varies between 50% and 89%, depending on the strain. The Sudan Ebola virus, responsible for the current outbreak, is one of the deadliest forms of the disease.
