Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to comprehensive energy sector reforms aimed at long-term relief for the public. During a meeting in Islamabad with a Jamaat-e-Islami delegation on Tuesday, the premier highlighted ongoing efforts to restructure the energy system, reduce costs, and prioritize the well-being of the people.
Acknowledging Public Concerns
The three-member delegation, led by Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, thanked the Prime Minister for the recent reduction in electricity prices. The price cut, they said, offered much-needed relief to citizens grappling with high utility costs. The delegation also included senior party leaders Liaqat Baloch and Asif Luqman Qazi.
Responding to the appreciation, Shehbaz Sharif said that the reduction was just a starting point. He assured the delegation that more substantial reforms are underway to transform the energy sector into a more efficient and affordable system for the average Pakistani household.

Long-Term Vision for Energy
The Prime Minister stressed that current reforms are not short-term adjustments but part of a larger strategic roadmap. “We are restructuring the energy sector with long-term goals,” he said, “so that the burden on the common man is consistently reduced, not temporarily relieved.” He reiterated his government’s focus on energy efficiency, fair pricing, and sustainable solutions.
“No matter how tough the challenges,” he said, “we will not stop. Pakistan’s journey of progress must move forward.”
Shared Stand on Gaza Crisis
Beyond domestic matters, both the Prime Minister and the Jamaat-e-Islami leaders discussed the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. They expressed deep concern over the international community’s silence on Israel’s continuous attacks on defenseless Palestinians.
Shehbaz Sharif condemned the ongoing Israeli bombardment and labeled it as a blatant act of oppression. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering stance on the issue, stating that the country will continue to raise its voice at all international forums.
“Pakistan will never back down from supporting the Palestinian cause,” the Prime Minister said. “We stand by them morally, diplomatically, and politically until justice prevails.”
Strengthening Political Dialogue
The meeting also signaled a positive atmosphere for political engagement. The delegation’s visit and the candid exchange of views suggested a shared concern for public welfare and national issues. Discussions revolved around governance, energy policy, and pressing international crises, showing how constructive political dialogue can contribute to national policy refinement.
As the government moves ahead with reforms, such interactions are expected to continue, helping align broader political support around initiatives meant to improve public welfare. With energy reform as a key focus, and solidarity with oppressed communities like Gaza at the forefront of foreign policy, Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership seeks to balance domestic priorities with global responsibilities.
