Pakistan and China have agreed to strengthen media cooperation through joint productions, training programs, and cultural exchanges. The initiative aims to combat disinformation and deepen people-to-people ties, according to a meeting held in Beijing between Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar and China’s Minister of National Radio and Television Administration, Cao Shumin.

Strengthening Broadcast Collaboration

The two sides discussed a proposed agreement between China Central Television (CCTV) and Pakistan Television (PTV). This deal would encourage content exchange, technical support, and collaborative documentary production.

Tarar confirmed that PTV and Radio Pakistan already play a key role in promoting China’s development stories, CPEC progress, and Belt and Road initiatives in Urdu to Pakistani audiences. He emphasized that further collaboration could help bring both societies closer.

Influencer Exchange and Cultural Engagement

Highlighting the power of digital diplomacy, both ministers supported exchange visits between Chinese and Pakistani digital influencers. Tarar said such efforts would inject “renewed vitality” into bilateral ties, especially among younger generations.

He noted how social media solidarity between youth from both nations during the recent Pakistan-India conflict reflected the depth of mutual friendship.

Expanding Institutional Collaboration

Cao Shumin reaffirmed China’s recognition of Pakistan as a trusted media ally. She emphasized that sharing best practices in communication and technology would benefit both countries.

Discussions concluded with a shared goal: using media as a tool for fostering understanding, promoting shared values, and strengthening the Pakistan-China relationship through a long-term, coordinated strategy
