Monsoon rains in Pakistan are set to intensify from today, raising concerns of widespread flooding and landslides. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) warns that heavy rainfall, combined with strong winds and thunderstorms, will affect several regions over the coming days. The National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC) has also issued flood alerts for vulnerable areas.
Widespread Showers Expected
Moist currents entering the country will strengthen by July 13. A fresh westerly wave is also expected to arrive the same evening. These systems will bring heavy rain, wind, and thunderstorms across Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and parts of Balochistan and Sindh between July 11 and 17.
