Saud Shakeel has been named captain of the Pakistan Shaheens squad for their upcoming tour of England. The 18-member team will play two three-day matches and three 50-over games from July 17 to August 6. This tour offers young talent a valuable opportunity to prove themselves in overseas conditions.

Experienced Core with Promising Talent

Shakeel, who has scored 1,658 runs in 19 Test matches at an average above 50, brings experience to the squad. Alongside him, capped players Mir Hamza, Musa Khan, and Sajid Khan provide additional depth.

Several rising stars have earned call-ups due to their recent domestic performances. Azan Awais and Maaz Sadaqat—top scorers in the 2024–25 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy—have been rewarded for their consistency. Mubasir Khan, known for his off-spin and all-round ability, and left-arm wristspinner Faisal Akram, a former Under-19 and PSL player, also make the cut.

Pace and Spin Units Strengthened

Ubaid Shah, younger brother of Pakistan pacer Naseem Shah, joins the pace attack with Mushtaq Ahmed and Shahid Aziz. Ubaid’s inclusion adds both speed and anticipation to the bowling unit.

The spin department is bolstered by Sajid Khan and Mehran Mumtaz. Faisal Akram’s unique wrist spin adds variety and unpredictability, giving Pakistan Shaheens a balanced bowling lineup for English conditions.

Preparation and Support Staff

The squad will attend a training camp at the Hanif Mohammad High-Performance Centre in Karachi before departing on July 16. This camp aims to help players adjust to English pitches and fine-tune skills ahead of the tour.

However The support staff includes former Test opener Imran Farhat as head coach, Rehan Riaz as bowling coach, and Mohtashim Rasheed handling fielding duties.
