KARACHI – The tragic death of actress and model Humaira Asghar Ali has taken a dramatic turn, as Karachi police intensify their investigation following fresh claims of murder. Humaira, 32, was found dead in her locked apartment in DHA Karachi on July 8, 2025. Her decomposed body was discovered during a court-mandated eviction operation after months of unpaid rent.
South SSP Mahzoor Ali has constituted a dedicated investigation team, led by SP Clifton Imran Jakhrani. The committee also includes SDPO Defence Aurangzeb Khattak, ASP Nida, and SHO Gizri Farooq Sanjrani. The team has already recovered and unlocked three mobile phones and a tablet belonging to the actress. According to sources, passwords were found in Humaira’s personal diary.
Police are currently analyzing chat records, call logs, and other data. However, her laptop remains inaccessible, which could delay key findings. “We are being thorough with the data. Every conversation could be a clue,” said an officer close to the probe.
Building Staff, Gym Trainer Summoned for Questioning
To build a timeline and uncover potential leads, investigators have recorded statements from two acquaintances of the actress. They have also summoned the building’s watchman and cleaning staff for questioning.
In the coming days, police plan to interview Humaira’s gym trainer and employees of a beauty salon she frequented. These people may help determine her last movements and mental state. The investigative committee is mapping her recent interactions to identify any foul play or suspicious behavior.
Interestingly, despite the high-profile nature of the case, police say Humaira’s family has not yet contacted them about legal or burial arrangements.
Citizen Petitions Court: “This Was Murder, Not Natural Death”
Fueling the growing speculation, a citizen named Shahzaib Sohail filed a petition in Karachi City Court, calling the death “suspicious” and possibly “a planned murder.” The petitioner claims to have reviewed disturbing video footage from the scene and questioned the lack of family contact and social media activity in recent months.
In his plea, Shahzaib alleges that Humaira’s estranged relationship with her family is suspicious—particularly since no family member came forward to claim the body. He urged the court to include her family in the investigation. The petition also named SSP South and SHO Gizri as respondents and demanded a deeper probe into possible criminal involvement.
DIG South Asad Raza commented on the matter, noting that the apartment was locked from inside and there were no signs of forced entry—suggesting no immediate evidence of external foul play. However, investigators are not ruling anything out.
Body Found After Eviction Warrant Execution
The discovery of Humaira’s body came after a long period of silence from the actress. Her last post on social media was in September 2024, and her phone records show no activity after October 4. According to police, Humaira had stopped paying rent in early 2024, prompting the landlord to file for eviction.
On July 8, a court bailiff accompanied Gizri police to her apartment in Ittehad Commercial Area, DHA Phase VI. Neighbors had reported a foul smell, and once the door was broken, her decomposed body was found inside. The apartment’s main entrance and balcony doors were locked from within.
Sources believe the delayed discovery may be linked to an adjacent apartment that remained unoccupied until February 2025—limiting early detection of the odor.
Humaira Asghar was widely recognized for her role in the film Jalaibee and the reality TV show Tamasha Ghar. Her death, surrounded by mystery and a sudden media storm, has sparked public interest and raised uncomfortable questions about mental health, isolation, and the pressures of celebrity life in Pakistan.
The case remains open, and Karachi police say further updates will follow after forensic and digital analyses are complete.
