In a bold move to enforce internal discipline, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has expelled five Members of the National Assembly (MNAs) over what it calls a clear violation of party policy. The decision stems from their support for the 26th Constitutional Amendment Bill, triggering the PTI disqualification process.
Action Taken by Party Leadership
According to a notification issued by PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, the expelled MNAs include Aurangzeb Khan Khichi, Mubarak Zeb Khan, Chaudhry Usman Ali, Zahoor Hussain Qureshi, and Muhammad Ilyas Chaudhary. The chairman confirmed that these members now stand disqualified and deseated from the National Assembly.
PTI’s Central Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram also posted on X, stating the five had violated their oath and party loyalty. He said, “By voting in favor of the 26th Amendment, they have effectively joined another parliamentary party. They are therefore expelled from PTI with immediate effect.”

Imran Khan’s Directive from Jail
The decision to remove these members follows clear instructions from PTI’s incarcerated founder, Imran Khan. Sources close to the party revealed that Khan directed senior leadership to take strict disciplinary action against all those who either supported or remained absent during the controversial amendment vote.
Show-Cause Notices Previously Issued
Before the expulsions, the party had already issued show-cause notices to several members, both for voting in favor of the amendment and for being absent from the session. These included Zarqa Suharwardy, Senator Faisal Saleem, and Zain Qureshi. Notices were also sent to Aslam Ghuman, Riaz Fatyana, Maqsood Ali Khan, and Aurangzeb Kachhi.
Party Asserts Zero-Tolerance Policy
PTI’s leadership has reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on disloyalty. The party views the 26th Amendment vote as a direct challenge to its unity and principles. With disqualification proceedings underway, PTI signals it won’t allow internal dissent to undermine its position in the National Assembly.
