At Least 37 Palestinians Killed Across Gaza Since Dawn

At least 37 Palestinians have been killed across Gaza since dawn on Thursday, according to medical sources reporting to Al Jazeera Arabic. The most devastating incident occurred in Khan Younis, where 20 people lost their lives while seeking food aid at a distribution point run by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF).
These individuals were among thousands of desperate civilians trying to secure basic necessities like rice, flour, and cooking oil amid Gaza’s worsening humanitarian crisis. This isn’t the first time an aid distribution site has turned into a massacre scene. Aid seekers, mostly women and children, have repeatedly come under fire while waiting in long queues for food they may never receive.
Meanwhile, Nasser Hospital confirmed that nine more people died in an Israeli bombing that struck tents sheltering displaced families in the al-Mawasi area, also located in Khan Younis. Many of these victims were already living in makeshift conditions, having been displaced from their original homes during earlier assaults.
The death toll is expected to climb, with sources at Gaza hospitals earlier reporting at least 20 additional deaths from overnight Israeli air raids across different parts of the besieged enclave.

Ceasefire Talks Face New Obstacles as Trump Meets Qatari FM
In a significant diplomatic development, Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani is expected to meet Donald Trump today to push forward ceasefire negotiations. The talks in Doha, which began on July 6, are centered around a US-backed 60-day ceasefire proposal. The plan includes a phased release of captives held in Gaza, partial withdrawal of Israeli forces, and long-term discussions on ending the war.
Trump’s Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, expressed cautious optimism earlier this week, saying he remains “hopeful” that a breakthrough is possible. Qatar, Egypt, and the US are all involved as mediators in what appears to be a last-ditch effort to halt the bloodshed.
However, the path to peace remains uncertain. Sources say Hamas and Israel remain far apart, especially on key demands like a full Israeli military withdrawal from Gaza and the restoration of essential services. Despite international pressure, Israel is reportedly unwilling to give up recently established buffer zones in southern Gaza, which it claims are necessary for national security.
New Israeli Corridor Splits Palestinians
As if the humanitarian toll wasn’t devastating enough, a newly established Israeli military corridor—Magen Oz—has further disrupted the geography and demography of Gaza. Cutting straight through Khan Younis, the corridor effectively isolates rural areas from urban centers, severing any sense of cohesion or continuity for displaced Palestinians.
According to Al Jazeera’s Nour Odeh, reporting from Amman due to Israel’s ban on the outlet, the corridor is being described by Israeli media as a way to enforce “military pressure.” But critics argue it’s part of a broader plan to ethnically cleanse and permanently alter Gaza’s landscape.
Israeli Army Radio even reported that this corridor may be used to expand a “concentration zone”—a term now being used to describe newly flattened areas like Rafah, where makeshift camps could become long-term holding zones for Palestinians with nowhere else to go.

This development has seriously undermined the ceasefire negotiations in Doha. Hamas officials say the creation of such corridors proves Israel has no intention of allowing displaced Palestinians to return home, even if a truce is signed.
As the world watches and diplomatic games play out in hotel rooms far away from the bombed-out tents of Gaza, one truth remains painfully clear: civilians continue to pay the price, and peace remains elusive
