A tragic incident unfolded in Balochistan on Friday as one personnel of the Balochistan Constabulary was martyred and three others sustained injuries after unidentified gunmen opened fire on their convoy near Mastung. The attack targeted the vehicle of the acting Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) on the national highway.
According to Shahid Rind, the spokesperson for the Balochistan government, the convoy came under sudden attack, prompting immediate response from nearby security forces. Emergency services shifted the injured personnel to a nearby hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.
The area was quickly sealed off by security teams, and a full-scale search operation was launched to trace and apprehend the culprits. Investigators suspect the involvement of organised terrorist elements, potentially backed by foreign intelligence agencies seeking to destabilise peace in the region.
Terror Wave Intensifies Across Balochistan
Balochistan has witnessed a disturbing rise in terrorist incidents in recent months. Friday’s attack follows a string of violent events that have rocked the province. Earlier this week, Indian-sponsored militants were held responsible for the killing of Pakistan Army Major Syed Rabnawaz Tariq in the Awaran district.
On the same day, unidentified gunmen ambushed a passenger coach en route from Karachi to Quetta in Kalat, killing three civilians and injuring seven others. The sudden spike in violence has raised alarms among security agencies and has led to increased surveillance and intelligence-sharing across provincial and federal departments.
Officials believe that hostile foreign actors are actively supporting separatist elements and extremist proxies, particularly after the Pahalgam defeat. This strategy appears aimed at creating unrest and challenging Pakistan’s internal security, especially in Balochistan, where development projects and infrastructure initiatives are under constant threat.

Leadership Responds with Resolve and Condolences
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the attack and expressed sorrow over the loss of life. He offered condolences to the family of the martyred constabulary member and instructed authorities to ensure the injured receive top-priority medical treatment. The prime minister reaffirmed the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and promised swift justice.
President Asif Ali Zardari also voiced deep condemnation of the incident. He paid rich tribute to the fallen personnel and reiterated the state’s commitment to continue its counter-terrorism efforts. “These cowardly acts cannot shake our determination,” the president stated, vowing that every perpetrator and their facilitators would be held accountable.
The president further offered prayers for the injured and extended support to the bereaved families, urging national unity and resilience during these trying times.
As Balochistan continues to face these relentless challenges, the role of law enforcement agencies and the armed forces remains critical in preserving peace and thwarting enemy conspiracies. The sacrifice of security personnel in the line of duty underscores the high cost of maintaining national integrity in the face of growing threats.
Security officials urge citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with authorities to ensure peace returns to the troubled province. The fight against terrorism in Balochistan is far from over, but with collective resolve and coordinated action, stability can be restored.
