In a decisive counterterrorism operation, Pakistani security forces killed four militants in Balochistan’s Kalat district, reinforcing efforts to eliminate Indian-sponsored terrorism from the region. The operation, based on intelligence reports, was launched on the night of July 19–20 amid rising militant attacks in the province.

Night Raid Targets Terror Group

According to the military’s media wing, ISPR, the operation targeted members of the banned outfit Fitna Al Hindustan, an Indian-backed proxy group. Security forces launched a swift, intelligence-based operation after confirming the presence of militants in the area. In an intense gun battle, all four suspects were killed.

The ISPR reported that weapons, explosives, and ammunition were recovered. The terrorists were reportedly involved in several violent activities across the region. Officials also confirmed the seizure of a Fitna Al Hindustan flag during the raid.

Surge in Terror Attacks in Balochistan

Balochistan has seen a notable surge in terrorist attacks in recent months. Earlier this week, a tragic shooting incident in Kalat left three civilians dead and seven injured after gunmen opened fire on a passenger bus. Authorities have since increased security measures and launched further crackdowns on militant networks.

On July 19, a senior security officer was martyred in a targeted bombing on the Western Bypass near Quetta. A magnetic explosive device was attached to his vehicle and detonated moments after a motorcyclist placed it. CCTV footage captured the suspect fleeing the scene just before the blast.

President Zardari Applauds Forces

President Asif Ali Zardari praised the swift action of security forces. In a statement, he reaffirmed the government’s commitment to end terrorism in all forms. “Our security forces remain steadfast and determined. Terrorism will be eradicated with national unity,” he said.

Zardari vowed continued operations against all militant elements, especially Fitna Al Hindustan. He emphasized that such groups will be pursued relentlessly until fully neutralized.

Ongoing Security Operations

The ISPR said that a sanitisation operation is ongoing in Kalat to track down any remaining militants. Authorities stressed that the mission is not over and that no corner of the region would be left unchecked.

The military reiterated its resolve to eliminate terrorism and prevent cross-border threats. “The presence of Indian-backed proxies like Fitna Al Hindustan in our territory will not be tolerated,” read the statement. It added that the operation sent a clear message to enemies of peace.

National Tragedies Continue

Violence also struck Mastung district on Friday. Unidentified gunmen attacked a police convoy traveling from Kalat to Quetta. The ambush killed Acting DSP Abdul Razzaq and Constable Raza Muhammad Jam. Two other officers sustained injuries. The wounded and deceased were airlifted to Quetta by helicopter.

Provincial government spokesperson Shahid Rind condemned the incident, calling it an act of desperation by those who oppose peace in the region. “These attacks will not break the morale of Balochistan’s people or its security forces,” he asserted.

Alarming Rise in Terrorism

Pakistan’s growing security concerns have been highlighted globally. The country now ranks second in the 2025 Global Terrorism Index. Terror-related fatalities have jumped by 45% over the past year, with 1,081 people killed.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has also faced increasing incidents of terrorism, indicating a broader national challenge. Officials believe coordinated efforts are required to address the rising threats, including stronger intelligence sharing and tighter border control.

The Road Ahead

Pakistan’s security forces remain on high alert. The recent Kalat operation marks another step in a long battle against extremist groups that threaten national stability. While the elimination of four militants sends a strong message, officials caution that more work lies ahead.

Public confidence in the military’s counterterrorism approach remains high, and leadership continues to call for unity and vigilance. The ongoing campaign in Balochistan reflects a broader national effort to secure peace through force, intelligence, and unwavering resolve.
