KARACHI: Aviation journalists across Pakistan have come together to form the Pakistan Aviation Reporters Association (PARA) to strengthen professional capabilities and find solutions to pressing industry challenges. The initiative aims to unify aviation reporters under one platform and provide them with the resources to improve reporting standards.
Formation Announced in Karachi Meeting
The announcement came during an introductory meeting of aviation reporters held in Karachi on Monday. The gathering brought together some of the country’s most experienced aviation journalists, who discussed the challenges faced by reporters covering the aviation sector.
Senior journalists Javed Asghar Chaudhry, Aftab Khan, Afzal Nadeem Dogar, Ayub Jan Sarhandi, Salahuddin, Rana Khalid Mahmood, Abdul Rahman, Samar Abbas, Syed Waseem, Khurshid Rehmani, Rizwan Ahad Khan, Irshad Sanjrani, Zahid Ghani Khokhar, and Salahuddin Ali attended the meeting.
The participants stressed the importance of professional collaboration and sharing resources to ensure accurate and timely aviation news coverage.

PARA to be Officially Registered
During the meeting, members unanimously decided that PARA would be formally registered as a professional body. The association will represent aviation journalists at national and international levels while addressing issues related to access to information, safety, and transparency in reporting.
The decision reflects a growing recognition of the aviation sector’s importance in Pakistan and the need for specialized journalism to cover its complex developments.
Ad Hoc Committee to Lead Initial Phase
To oversee the early stages of the association’s development, an ad hoc committee was formed. The committee will be responsible for establishing PARA’s organizational structure, drafting its constitution, and laying the groundwork for future operations.

The next official meeting of PARA has been scheduled for August 18. The meeting is expected to finalize key decisions, including the association’s constitution, membership criteria, and a roadmap for training programs.
