An Army sergeant has been taken into custody following a violent shooting incident at Fort Stewart, Georgia, where five soldiers were injured. The attack, now under military investigation, has raised serious concerns about safety and discipline within U.S. military bases. Suspect Identified by Military Officials
Brigadier General John Lubas, commander of the 3rd Infantry Division, identified the suspect as Sergeant Quornelius Radford. He allegedly opened fire on his unit members during the morning hours of August 6. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, according to Lubas.
The general addressed the press later that day, emphasizing that investigations are ongoing and that the situation is under control. “We are still trying to understand what led to this tragic act,” he said.

Victims in Stable Condition
The five soldiers who sustained gunshot wounds are in stable condition. Medical teams acted swiftly to treat the injuries, and all victims are expected to recover.
Brig. Gen. Lubas praised the prompt response by emergency personnel and military police. He noted that immediate medical attention helped prevent a potential tragedy from becoming worse.

He is currently held in pretrial confinement and has already been questioned by the Army’s Criminal Investigation Division. The Office of the Special Trial Counsel will determine the formal charges. If convicted, he could face a court-martial and imprisonment in a military facility.
