Pakistani unskilled workers may soon find fewer opportunities in the UAE as the country moves towards a high-skilled job market, said Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi. He stressed the need for training professionals in fields like IT, banking, AI, healthcare, and aviation.
The UAE’s job market is evolving. Ambassador Tirmizi urged Pakistan to focus on skill development to meet growing global demands. “We need to train accountants, IT experts, physicians, nurses, and pilots for the UAE market,” he said.
He noted that skilled professionals could earn Dh20,000 or more, far higher than unskilled workers who make as little as Dh1,000.
Stronger Economic Ties
Pakistan aims to deepen its partnership with the UAE beyond just sending workers. Tirmizi highlighted the importance of attracting Emirati investment into Pakistan. “This partnership is not short-term. It spans generations,” he said.
Global Demand for Healthcare Workers
Tirmizi emphasized the rising global need for healthcare professionals. He called for world-class nursing facilities in Pakistan. “If we invest in training, Pakistani professionals will be in demand worldwide,” he said.
Aviation Industry Growth
Pakistan has a competitive edge in aviation. The ambassador revealed ongoing discussions with international aviation colleges to set up pilot training schools in Pakistan. These schools would provide affordable training for aspiring pilots.
Remittances on the Rise
Remittances from the UAE to Pakistan have surged by 53% in six months, reaching $4.5 billion. Tirmizi set a target of $9 billion by June. “Every worker, from crane operators to security guards, contributes to this achievement,” he said.
For Pakistan, remittances remain a crucial source of foreign exchange, surpassing export revenues.
