Israeli Settler Attack Wounds Palestinians as Gaza Faces Starvation, Drone Strikes

A 59-year-old Palestinian woman sustained a deep head wound after Israeli settlers attacked residents of Halhul, north of Hebron, on Saturday. According to Wafa news agency, settlers from the illegal Karmei Tzur settlement, backed by Israeli forces, threw stones and issued threats during the assault. Two other members of the same family were also injured, suffering wounds and bruises.

Palestinian officials condemned the attack, calling it part of a wider escalation of settler violence across the occupied West Bank. Rights groups have repeatedly warned that such attacks often occur under military protection, further intensifying the insecurity of Palestinian communities.

Drone Strike Kills Two in Southern Gaza

In southern Gaza, at least two Palestinians were killed and 15 others wounded when an Israeli drone targeted a tent sheltering displaced families in al-Mawasi. The coastal strip had been designated by Israel as a so-called “safe zone,” but witnesses say the attack struck people who had nowhere else to flee.

Emergency workers reported chaotic scenes as survivors carried the wounded to overcrowded medical facilities already struggling to cope with shortages of medicine and supplies.

Starvation Claims Lives in Gaza

Meanwhile, Gaza’s Health Ministry confirmed that 11 people, including two siblings aged 16 and 25, died of starvation in the past 24 hours. The deaths highlight the collapse of food distribution networks in the enclave, where international aid has been severely restricted.

Reporting from Deir el-Balah, journalist Hind Khoudary described the reality as “devastating,” noting that Palestinians are risking their lives by approaching aid hubs. “They know they could be shot, but they still go because they want to feed their families,” she said.

Humanitarian groups have warned that most of the trucks entering Gaza are commercial, making food unaffordable for many families. Hot meal kitchens have stopped operating, leaving the population with no reliable source of nutrition.

Genocide Being “Livestreamed”

Chris Doyle, director of the Council for Arab-British Understanding in London, criticized the lack of international action. He said the starvation crisis was being worsened by extreme summer heat and unsanitary conditions.

“Every aspect of civilian life in Gaza has been decimated,” Doyle told Al Jazeera. “We are watching this genocide being livestreamed. Words, statements and press releases won’t feed starving babies or bring back the dead.”

Doyle condemned world leaders for failing to uphold international law, saying there was “no moral compass” guiding their response.

Escalating Humanitarian Catastrophe

The combination of settler violence in the West Bank and starvation, bombardment, and drone strikes in Gaza paints a worsening humanitarian picture. Aid agencies have warned of irreversible consequences if food, water, and medical supplies are not delivered at scale.

With funerals taking place in both Gaza and the West Bank, Palestinians say they are enduring not only war but also deliberate deprivation. The crisis underscores growing calls for urgent international intervention to halt the violence and prevent further loss of life.
