Kapil Sharma’s Canada Cafe Attacked Again; Probe Hints at Salman Khan Link

MUMBAI: Comedian-actor Kapil Sharma finds himself at the center of a deepening security concern after his café in Canada was targeted in a second firing incident. At least 25 shots were fired outside Kap’s Cafe in Surrey, British Columbia, marking the second such attack in less than a month. The Mumbai police have taken serious note of the incident, especially after social media posts alleged links between the attackers and the Lawrence Bishnoi gang—one of the groups involved in earlier threats to Bollywood superstar Salman Khan.
According to Canadian media reports, the latest attack occurred in the early hours of Thursday near 8400-block 120th Street in Surrey. Although the shots caused property damage, no injuries were reported. Surveillance footage from nearby shops is being reviewed by local law enforcement to identify the suspects.
Mumbai Police on High Alert
After this second attack, Mumbai police have begun assessing the threat level to Kapil Sharma and are considering extending police protection to him. A senior police official confirmed that Sharma had been contacted by the crime branch previously after the first shooting incident.
“He was asked whether he had received any threats or extortion calls from gangs like that of Lawrence Bishnoi or Goldy Brar, to which he replied in the negative,” said the official. “But after this second attack and new claims being made online, we will be questioning him again.”
Following the latest firing, a threatening social media post went viral, claiming that the attack was orchestrated by Goldy Dhillon and the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The post allegedly warned that the next target could be in Mumbai if the message wasn’t taken seriously.
This raises serious alarms, particularly because the Bishnoi gang is already under investigation for alleged attempts on Salman Khan’s life. Officials now suspect a possible connection between the attackers behind Kapil’s café shooting and those previously linked to the threats against Khan.

Terror Outfit Babbar Khalsa Earlier Claimed Involvement
In the first attack that occurred just weeks ago, Harjit Singh, a member of the banned Khalistani terror outfit Babbar Khalsa, had claimed responsibility. He had fired nine bullets at the cafe, citing comments made by Kapil Sharma on his television show regarding the Nihang Sikh community.
While that attack was believed to be ideologically motivated, the second assault suggests a deeper, more organized criminal nexus at play. The overlapping involvement of separatist and gangster groups has left both Indian and Canadian authorities concerned.
The Crime Branch in Mumbai is now investigating whether any recce was conducted by gang operatives around Kapil Sharma’s Mumbai residence or shooting locations. Officers are reviewing CCTV footage and mobile tower data to detect suspicious movements near Sharma’s premises.
Salman Khan Connection Being Explored
Sources in the investigation reveal that the police are not ruling out the possibility that Sharma may have become a soft target in the larger campaign of intimidation against Bollywood celebrities. “Sharma and Khan are known to share a friendly rapport in the industry. The possibility that these attacks are part of a broader effort to target high-profile public figures is not off the table,” said a senior intelligence source.
It is worth noting that Salman Khan had earlier received direct death threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, prompting the Maharashtra government to grant him Y+ category security. Given the emerging similarities, police believe there may be strategic motives behind these attacks on Kapil Sharma’s overseas business.
No Comment Yet from Kapil Sharma
As of Friday, Kapil Sharma has not issued a public statement about the recent attack. His management team has remained tight-lipped, only confirming that they are cooperating with Canadian and Indian law enforcement agencies.

Kapil Sharma, one of India’s most loved comedians and television hosts, ad launched Kap’s Cafe earlier this year. The project marked his first business venture outside India. The cafe quickly became a hotspot for fans and locals, until the back-to-back attacks cast a shadow over its future.
Canadian Police Investigating Gang Activity
Authorities in Surrey have increased patrols around the café and are working closely with Indian counterparts to determine if transnational gang activity is involved. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) confirmed that they are following up on leads related to organized crime and extremist groups operating within Canada.
The repeated targeting of Indian celebrities abroad signals a disturbing trend in how criminal gangs and extremist elements are expanding their reach across borders. With Bollywood now firmly in their crosshairs, security agencies are calling for tighter coordination between Indian and international enforcement units.
As investigations intensify, one thing remains clear: Kapil Sharma, like Salman Khan, may now need round-the-clock security—not just in India, but globally.
