Hadiqa Kiani Appeals for Urgent Evacuation Amid Floods

Pakistani singer and philanthropist Hadiqa Kiani flood appeal has urged residents living near the Ravi, Sutlej, and Chenab rivers to evacuate immediately. Her emotional message comes as devastating floods continue to submerge vast parts of Punjab, forcing thousands of families to flee their homes.
A Personal Plea from Hadiqa Kiani
Kiani shared her heartfelt video message on Instagram, warning people not to take the situation lightly. She stressed that communities near river belts were facing extreme danger as water levels rose rapidly due to constant rainfall and overflow from dams.
“Pakistan is going through a very difficult time. Settlements near the Ravi, Sutlej, and Chenab rivers are the most vulnerable. Water levels are rising continuously, and people must act quickly,” she said.
Her appeal highlighted the urgency of protecting lives over material possessions. She advised families to take only essential belongings and move to safer shelters before it became too late.
Government Issues Urgent Evacuation Orders
Her warning came in line with government directives. Authorities issued urgent evacuation orders for residents living close to the three rivers. Officials stressed that the flood situation had become unprecedented, leaving no room for delay in evacuation.
The army has been deployed in eight districts, including Lahore, Kasur, Narowal, and Faisalabad. Troops are working with civil authorities to evacuate people, provide rescue support, and establish temporary shelters.
Thousands of families are scrambling to escape, carrying children and valuables through submerged roads. Relief camps have been set up, but the demand for shelter continues to rise as waters expand across rural and urban areas

Punjab Under Water
Large parts of Punjab are now underwater. Floodwaters have displaced hundreds of thousands of residents, swept away livestock, and devastated farmlands. The destruction of crops is expected to deepen the food security crisis, especially for rural communities dependent on agriculture.
Officials reported that torrential rains and excess water released from Indian dams have worsened the crisis. The combined impact has turned villages into islands, cutting off families from aid and rescue teams.
Scale of Rescue Efforts
Authorities say that over 150,000 people have already been evacuated to safer zones. Around 35,000 livestock have also been rescued from flood-hit regions. Rescue teams, including volunteers and armed forces, are working around the clock to reach stranded families.
Despite these efforts, many areas remain inaccessible. Floodwaters have destroyed key roads and bridges, complicating transportation of relief goods. Boats and helicopters are being used where possible to evacuate residents trapped by the rising waters.
Rising Monsoon Death Toll
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN-OCHA) has warned that this year’s monsoon season in Pakistan is proving far deadlier than last year. The death toll is already nearly three times higher compared to the same period in 2024.
Health experts fear the outbreak of waterborne diseases in overcrowded relief camps. With sanitation facilities under strain and clean drinking water scarce, cholera, diarrhea, and dengue remain looming threats.
Hadiqa Kiani’s Humanitarian Role
Hadiqa Kiani is not new to humanitarian appeals during disasters. In 2022, she launched her Vaseela campaign, which mobilized aid for flood-affected communities in Balochistan. That year’s floods destroyed thousands of homes, killed over 225 people, and displaced entire villages.
Through Vaseela, she provided food, shelter materials, and medical support to survivors. Her past efforts have made her a trusted voice in raising awareness and rallying support during national crises.
Her latest message carries the same urgency, urging people to prioritize life and safety over material possessions. She reminded citizens that floods are unpredictable and ignoring evacuation orders could prove fatal.
Impact on Daily Life
The floods have not only forced mass displacements but also disrupted education, healthcare, and local economies. Schools and clinics have been converted into relief camps. Farmers have lost entire harvests, leaving many without income for months to come.
Markets remain closed in several districts, while supply chain disruptions are causing shortages of food and medicines. With power outages affecting many regions, communication remains difficult, further isolating families from timely updates.
Calls for Collective Responsibility
Humanitarian groups and local officials stress the importance of collective responsibility. They urge citizens in unaffected areas to support flood victims through donations, volunteer work, and awareness campaigns.
International organizations are expected to increase their involvement in the coming weeks. However, local voices like Hadiqa Kiani’s continue to play a key role in reaching vulnerable communities directly.
Hope Amid Despair
Amid the devastation, stories of courage and solidarity are emerging. Volunteers are risking their lives to rescue stranded families. Communities are pooling resources to provide food and shelter to displaced neighbors.
Hadiqa Kiani’s appeal reflects this spirit of unity, reminding citizens that saving lives comes first. Her words echo a broader message: resilience, awareness, and timely action are the only ways to withstand the growing impact of climate-driven disasters in Pakistan.
