FIA files cases against Jahangir Tareen and Ali Tareen

Jahangir Tareen, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, has been charged with fraud and money laundering.

On March 22, a Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Lahore investigation team filed a lawsuit against them for a suspected Rs3.14 billion scam.

Jahangir Tareen is accused of transferring fraudulent shares worth billions of rupees to Farooqi Pulp Mills Limited (FPML), which is owned by his son and close relatives, according to the FIR.

According to the paper, the transactions were “patently fraudulent investments that eventually transformed into personal benefits” for Jahangir’s family, particularly after 2011-12. The same factory was used to spend and launder Rs3 billion.

The FIR describes how and why FPML was created in 1991.

Sections 406, 420, and 109 of the Pakistan Penal Code, as well as Section 3/4 of the Anti-Money Laundering Act, 2010, are included. The officer in charge of the investigation will be Rana M Shawaz.

Jahangir Tareen terms allegations as baseless

Jahangir Tareen has termed FIA’s accusations as “baseless.” He said that his companies’ finances had already been validated by a private audit company.

According to the PTI chairman, all of the shares were exchanged in compliance with the legislation and accounting regulations.

The investigation report and Sugar crisis of 2020

Premier Imran Khan, last year had given a task to FIA and ordered it to investigate the sugar crisis issue across the country and find out who took advantage of it.

The FIA’s repost that was realized a year ago divulged that PTI’s significant leaders were found to have a hand in the crisis who has their fair share of advantage.

FIA’s report said that one of the leaders was Jahangir Tareen and Khusro Bakhtiara’s brother who was Minister for National Food Security in 2020.

According to the report, Tareen has benefited the most from the sugar crisis after Bakhtiar’s brother.

It was also claimed in the investigation report that companies belonging to Moonis Elahi — an ally of the party — also took advantage of the sugar crisis. Elahi is Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi’s son and a significant member of the PML-Q.

What daily life is like for a world champion boxer? Amir Khan explains

Of course, there’s glamour in the life of Amir Khan – a summer home in Dubai and luxury clothes galore – but there’s also squabbles over changing nappies and throwing the garbage out.

What evidence do we have? Khan and his wife Faryal Makhdoom revealed in an interview with BBC Three.

Khan, 34, is the face of British boxing; he captured an Olympic silver medal in 2004 and went on to win two world titles.

He also runs his own charity and boxing school, acts as a promoter, and works with one of the sport’s governing bodies in the Middle East.

In the series, Khan and Makhdoom are seen as they juggle their jobs and three young children. It’s still very relatable in several respects. It also documents how relateable his lifestyle is.

“We wanted to show people out there, our fans, the real us,” says the boxer.

“Amir is the fourth child of the household, and he needs more than my one-year-old,” Makhdoom says. Khan has to search which forms of trash go in which bins, and Makhdoom views herself as “the real boss.”

They disagree over stuff like who will look after the kids or who will destroy the pots and pans, as do many couples. However, it is aspirational as well. Khan has a variety of businesses, and Makhdoom is a businesswoman.

In one episode, Makhdoom says, “I’m not just Amir Khan’s life partner.”

She added, “I’m in control of my own life and work.” Throughout the series, she is sent an amazing selection of high-end items, and she needs viewers to see the effort she has put in.

In another episode, the couple purchases a luxurious vacation home in Dubai, which Khan says is related to his appointment as WBC president for the Middle East.

There was some criticism at the time, with critics arguing that flaunting money on social media amid a worldwide pandemic was poor taste.

World leaders call for international pandemic pact

Members from around the world have called for a worldwide pandemic treaty.

More than 20 world leaders, including Prime Minister Boris Johnson, have called for a new global agreement to help the world brace for any pandemics.

Covid has faced the greatest threat since World War II, according to world leaders such as French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who publish in newspapers all over the world.

They say that another pandemic or health epidemic is a matter of “not if, but when.”

Furthermore, the pandemic has shown that “no one is safe until everybody is safe.”

The 24 leaders claim in the Daily Telegraph and other publications such as Le Monde in France and El Pais in Spain that a treaty close to the one concluded after WWII is required to establish cross-border cooperation.

“The goals were clear: to pull nations together, to dispel the temptations of isolationism and colonialism, and to resolve problems that could only be met by working together in a spirit of unity and cooperation, such as stability, development, health, and security.”

“At the time, after the destruction of two world wars, global leaders came together to forge the multilateral structure,” the signatories, who include the president of the World Health Organization, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

Countries must now “be adequately equipped to anticipate, deter, track, evaluate, and efficiently respond to pandemics in a strongly organized manner,” according to the leaders.

This new treaty will aid in the development of improved systems for warning citizens what danger these pandemics hold, as well as the exchange of data and the delivery of vaccines and personal protective equipment.

“Other pandemics and major health crises will occur.” This threat cannot be resolved by a single government or multilateral body. The concern isn’t when that will happen, but when.

“At a time when Covid-19 has abused our shortcomings and tensions,” the letter continues, “We must take this moment as a global community to work together for peaceful co-operation that stretches beyond this crisis.”

Dr. David Nabarro, a WHO special advisor on Covid-19, told BBC Radio 4’s Today that unless “any sort of special intervention is taken,” the whole planet would not be vaccinated until far into 2022.

The UK and the WHO cautioned against blockades, while the EU blamed pharmaceutical firms, especially AstraZeneca, for failing to produce promised doses. However, AstraZeneca has denied these claims against if effectiveness.

Mr Johnson, on Monday, announced that tens of millions of Novavax vaccine doses will now be manufactured and packaged in north-east England.

Crowd Attacks Cops Maharashtra Gurudwara, 4 wounded

Mumbai: After police refused to allow a religious procession due to the Covid surge in Maharashtra, a crowd of sword-wielding Sikh protestors broke through barricades at a Gurdwara in Nanded last evening and assaulted policemen, injuring four.

According to the Indian media, a case has been filed in connection with the abuse and the enforcement of the state’s Covid protection laws. A total of almost 18 people have been arrested.

A huge number of people armed with swords is seen pouring out of a gate of the Gurdwara complex, smashing through police barricades and targeting police officers on duty, according to a video widely circulated online. Four officers were wounded, and police vehicles were destroyed, according to a police officer.

The gurdwara had been told that the “Hola Mohalla” procession would not be permitted due to coronavirus restrictions, according to Superintendent of Police Pramod Kumar Shewale.

Mr Shewale mentioned that “We had spoken to the gurdwara authorities and the priests and explained the situation to them. So they agreed that this year, no procession will be held and a low-key celebration will be held within the complex.”

At 4 p.m. a low-key affair was set to begin “However, some of the youngsters became irritated. When Baba-ji explained the situation to them, they proceeded to Gate No. 1 and began walking down the procession’s usual path “Added he.

regardless of the state’s ban on demonstrations, locals decided to continue with the procession. Barricades had been erected near the gurdwara by the police. When the Nishan Sahib, or Sikh religious flag, was carried to a Gurdwara entrance, participants in the event began arguing, according to reports. The gate was then stormed by a huge mob.

Over the last week, Maharashtra has seen the most severe outbreak of the virus, prompting the state government to impose a slew of restrictions to combat the outbreak.

As part of a campaign to avoid the transmission of the disease, the state government declared limits on large gatherings on Sunday. People were not observing Covid procedures, according to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, who requested officials to prepare for a lockout.

In the last 24 hours, Maharashtra has seen 31,643 new Covid infections and 102 deaths. The number was smaller than the previous day’s estimate of 40,414 infections, which was the city’s highest-ever increase. The decrease is most certainly due to the fact that there are fewer exams on Sundays.

Australia calls for throne abolishment

In the aftermath of the Meghan Markle and Prince Harry controversy, Australia has called for the throne to be dismantled.

According to reports, an Australian Labor MP is strongly considering ending Australia’s links to the British throne and its membership in the Commonwealth.

“I believe it’s time for Australians to launch a serious debate about our next head of state,” said MP Matt Thistlethawaite in an interview with Express.

“We ought to have a serious conversation about recognizing our dignity and wisdom, the fact that we rule ourselves and making our own choices, and we should represent that by choosing one of our own as our president.”

“At the end of the day, Australia’s future has very little to do with the British royal family; the Queen herself said that this is a choice for the Australian people, and I completely agree.”

“I believe the time has come for us to resume that serious conversation, for our political leaders to put this back on the table and begin discussing with the Australian people how we might make a sensible transition, through an education campaign, a referendum campaign, and ultimately appointing one of our own as our head of state.”

“An Australian is worthy of serving as our country’s leader. Let’s get to work on nominating one of our own to this role.”

Earth is save from being hit by Apophis asteroid, NASA

Earthlings will exhale a sigh of relief after Nasa, the US space agency, declared the world “protected” from a once-feared asteroid for at least the next 100 years.

Since its discovery in 2004, Nasa designated Apophis as one of the most hazardous asteroids to Earth.

Close calls were predicted in 2029 and 2036 but were later ruled out. For the year 2068, there was already a minor threat.

However, a recent study of the asteroid has led Nasa to ignore the threat.

“A 2068 impact is not in the realm of possibility anymore, and our calculations don’t show any impact risk for at least the next 100 years,” a scientist who studies near-Earth objects for Nasa, Davide Farnocchia, mentioned in a statement on Friday.

Apophis, named for the ancient Egyptian god of disorder and darkness, is measured to be 340m (1,100ft) across, about the equivalent of three football pitches in the United Kingdom.

On March 5, the asteroid made a close flyby of Earth, coming within 17 million kilometers (10 million miles).

Astronomers were able to refine their estimation of the asteroid’s orbit around the Sun using radar measurements, enabling them to easily rule out any impact possibility in 2068 and beyond.

Mr Farnocchia said, “When I first began dealing with asteroids after college, Apophis was the poster child for hazardous asteroids.”

“It gives me a feeling of relief that it’s no longer on the risk list.”

“We’re looking forward to the research we could discover during its near approach in 2029,” he said.

Wasim Akram’s old pic took social media by storm

Cricket fans in both India and Pakistan remember a period when the two nuclear-armed nations’ relations were less tense and cricket teams often visited each other’s countries.

When a photo of former Pakistan sprinter Wasim Akram went viral on Twitter, the memories were rekindled. The photo, which was shared by an Indian host, shows a shirtless Wasim Akram standing next to Gautam Bhimani, with the tweet implying that the Pakistani players had previously played Holi with the Indian team.

Pakistan played five Test matches and six One Day Internationals in India in 1987.

The Men in Green dominated the Test series 1-0 after a 16-run victory in the series’ final match after the previous four games were all drawn.

Gautam Bhimani, an Indian sports host, captioned the throwback photo: “My favorite #experience! In the pool of @TajWestEnd, Indian and Pakistani teams are playing Holi. I have met @wasimakramlive for the first time.”

Wasim replied to the tweet with a fond recollection of the memories: “Have a wonderful Holi! What a day the 87th tour of India was.”

Cricket fans from both countries were ecstatic to see the picture, with many lamenting the fact that the two sides had not played a bilateral series in recent years.

“From the Indian and Pakistani teams playing Holi to Not playing Cricket, We all grew up!” Rakesh Kulkarni said in response to the Twitter tweet.

SBP and CGA Sign MOU for Digitizing Government Payments through Raast

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and the Controller General of Accounts Pakistan (CGAP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding today to digitize federal government payments using RAAST, Pakistan’s First Instant Payment System, which will be launched by SBP in January 2021.

Raast is SBP’s flagship initiative, providing a simple, fast, low-cost, interoperable, and safe online payment forum for high-volume retail payments.

Raast may also allow contributions to many recipients at once, which is useful for high-volume government payments such as wages, pensions, and social security benefits.

Raast would be used to pay the salary and retirement of a number of Federal Government employees in the test process. Payroll and pension-roll details will be moved from the CGA system to SBP’s Raast through a highly protected app, and transfers to beneficiaries’ accounts will be made immediately after validating their records.

Raast assures the beneficiaries’ information with their banks in real time before crediting the payment to the beneficiary’s account to ensure that payments are only credited to the intended beneficiary’s account. Following the pilot, the facility will be extended to accommodate both federal and provincial government wages, insurance, and supplier fees.

SBP is now seeking to extend Raast’s capabilities to cover payments from social safety nets like the Ehsas Scheme, BISP, and other government agencies.

PMD issues heatwave warning in Karachi

Karachi: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a heatwave warning for Karachi, urging residents to avoid going outside unnecessarily in the coming week, especially during peak hours when people are most exposed to the sun.

On Sunday, the Met Department forecast that the region will undergo a heatwave for the next six to eight days, with temperatures touching 40-42°C during the day.

Bearing in mind the hazards of a heatwave, here are a few things Dr Daniyal Raza, an emergency room doctor at Indus Hospital, suggests you do to combat the heat:

Avoid running unnecessary errands

The hottest part of the day comes between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. when the sun takes full hold of the skies. As a result, it is recommended that you should not go outside during these five hours to avoid heatstroke.

Consume juices, eat fruits

During the summer, it’s important to stay hydrated. Stop dehydration by holding a glass of water or consuming juices. You can also flavor your water with fresh fruits.

Instead of salty or spicy dishes, eat soft and ripe summer tomatoes, fresh vegetables, and sour or astringent foods.

Stay covered

Avoid direct exposure because you can not only burn your skin but also expose you to the sun’s ultraviolet rays, which are particularly toxic.

If you must be outdoors for an extended period of time, stop doing so without shade or wearing clothing that exposes your skin to the light. Wearing sunscreen will also be helpful in this case.

Wear cotton clothing and light colour dress

Cotton, rather than other fibers, can be used for clothes because it is light and absorbent. Furthermore, use lighter colors because dark colors absorb heat and lighter colors reflect the sun’s rays.

Keep a towel, wet it

When in contact with cold water, there are several pulse points on the body that can be used as cooling spots.

Apply a wet towel to your knees, hands, and temples, or run cool water over them.

Take quick showers

Take quick baths or showers because nothing beats a cool them in the middle of a hot summer day and especially in the heatwave.

Eat cucumber

Since Cucumbers are made of 90% water therefore it is cooling in nature. You can eat it and munch on the raw cucumber to fight to get hit by heatstroke.

These are the Symptoms of Heatwave

Furthermore, it’s critical to recognize when the heat has gotten to you, so keep an eye out for the following signs, as described by Dr. Raza:

Confusion

Nausea

Next, people who are stricken by the heatwave may also feel nauseous and vomiting.

Loss of consciousness

Losing consciousness is a sign of severe symptoms of heatstroke. People who have experienced heatwave are likely to pass out.

If you see someone hit by the heatstroke then Immediately do this.

Petrol Crisis 2020, Bilawal Demands PM to step down

KARACHI: On the fuel crisis 2020, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has demanded the resignation of the entire government, including the Prime Minister.

He also declared that the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) ordinance will be challenged in every forum.

Bilawal Bhutto said at a press conference in Karachi that the government should immediately revoke the SBP ordinance.

“This organization is solely responsible to Pakistanis, not the International Monetary Fund (IMF). It goes against the PPP’s ideology,” Bilawal said.

“The government should immediately withdraw this ordinance and repeal it. We will challenge this illegal ordinance at every forum as it is a serious attack on Pakistan’s economic sovereignty,” he said that it will “affect every Pakistani.”

According to Bilawal Bhutto, this government lacks the capacity to serve and bargain with the IMF over the country’s economic condition, and every Pakistani today bears the brunt of their errors, setbacks, and incompetence.

He continued, “our party understands that the way this government has made its economic policy and economic agreements with the IMF is not in the interest of the country.’

Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has stated that as the largest opposition party in the Senate, PPP has the right to elect an opposition leader in the upper house of parliament, irrespective of the accusations of being a “selected opposition.”

He termed Pakistan’s negative economic growth as a “sad and historic failure,” noting that Pakistan’s growth rate trailed Bangladesh and war-torn Afghanistan.
