Google Tests the Dark Mode SERP for Desktop

Apparently, Google is ramping up the SERP page and testing for the dark mode of Google Search, before releasing a larger feature rollout. One of the favourite new additions of late 2019 and early 2020 was the dark mode, with the dark theme coming from the previous year of the most popular applications and services.

The dark mode of Google Search for desktop computers was first established in alpha and beta testing rounds.

According to the reports, for Google Search Dark Mode, Google could be widening its trial circle to more users, and the same now appears across a broader range of users.

Nonetheless, it remains uncertain, however, how common the dark mode experiments of Google Search are being carried out.

Reports have that the selection remains entirely random as of now, which seems to hold true for Indian users as well.

Right now, there does not appear to be an option to activate the dark theme while those [having the dark mode option available] can retain the dark theme preference.

Kangana Ranaut makes tall claims on Twitter

Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut has once again made absurd claims declaring herself to be the most ‘talented’ actress of this ‘planet’.

This time around, the indian movie sensation spoke along the lines of being more capable than ‘any other actress on this planet’.

The actor even went too far that she even compared herself to Hollywood star Meryl Streep asserting that, “I am open for debate if anyone can show me more range and brilliance in craft by any other actress on this planet. I promise to give up my arrogance, until then I can surely afford the luxury of pride.”

She turned to twitter to assert about her talent.

Ranaut continued to add, “Massive transformation alert, the kind of range I display as a performer, no other actress on this globe can right now. I have raw talent like Meryl Streep for layered character depictions but I can also do skilled action and glamour like Gal Gadot.”

After making tall claims about herself, many called the Bollywood actress pretentious and a narcissist to which she answered, “Please prove my claims wrong or illogical will accept my statements as gloating disorder then. If you can’t, you too have to accept [that] in this world of mediocre hyenas, which will do anything to look through genuine talent, modesty is not good. Not at the cost of HONESTY.”

Legendary NFL head, Marty Schottenheimer passes away

The longtime NFL head coach Marty Schottenheimer, who came agonizingly close to reaching the Super Bowl many times only to fall short, has passed away today at the age of 77.

The sportsman was under care in Charlotte as he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2014. He also moved to a hospice last month, North Carolina. His family informed the news through Bob Moore, former Kansas City Chiefs publicist, according to the Associated Press.

Schottenheimer’s popularity was rooted in “Martyball,” a traditional approach that included a good passing game and a rugged defense. He cherished the mantra, “One play at a time,” which he would screw his teammates in the pre-kickoff huddle.

It was never a challenge to succeed in the regular season. Schottenheimer’s teams won 10 or more games 11 times, including a 14-2 record with the Chargers in 2006 that secured them No. 1 AFC seed in the playoffs.

A month later, when he fired Schottenheimer, owner Dean Spanos shocked the NFL, mainly due to an ego dispute between the coach and strong-willed general manager AJ Smith.

Here is the sneak peek of Android 12 redesign

If the company sticks with its past release timeline then we are soon going to see Google’s Android 12 launching this year amid this fall.

But before digging into that let’s just see a few betas, the first of which, again going on what happened for past versions, should appear within a few weeks.

While the users are eagerly waiting for all that to come out, some aspects of Android 12 have been leaked through screenshots. So brace yourselves, a redesign is coming alongside New features.

Google made a document summarizing the new look in the new version which is allegedly disclosed in a few screenshots. and Here are those leaked screenshots

To some extent, the looks are particularly reminding of iOS. Some of the novel privacy features as icons that show up in the top right that allow you to know that an app is using your camera or microphone.

If you tap those icons you’ll get a pop-up letting you know which app is still using what.

The new version has a quick way to disable the camera or mic with a single tap.

Google will also include and mandate camera and mic usage indicators and all Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) will have to include the feature once they release their updates to the new version of Andriod.

The Quick Settings icons either aren’t finalized or they’re going to change shape depending on the operation, which looks strange-does the Wi-Fi icon transform round when attached, alongside shifting colour? Perhaps!

However, this time around there are four Quick Settings icons that will make them easier and bigger to access but buries the others while leaving plenty of white (or rather, in this case, cream) space.

Background colors are likely to rely on the theme, and we’re not sure whether or not this is a new light theme.

With a new Conversations widget, new widgets are also on the way, that highlights new messages, activity statuses, and missed calls. This will only show, in its smallest size one item only once.

Other things expected to land in Android 12 are app pairs, the ‘double tap on the back of your phone’ gesturesharing Wi-Fi passwords with nearby devices, an improved theming system, emoji updates decoupled from system updates, and an app hibernation feature.

If they are able to follow the intimidating 370-run target set by Pakistan to win the second test at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, South Africa will rewrite historical books.

It is important to note that in ten tests in Rawalpindi, no team has chased more than the 220 scored by Sri Lanka in 2000 and that South Africa has not chased 250-plus since 2014.

The Proteas can rely on the fact that two 300 plus goals have been chased in the last 20 days with India reassessing 324 against Australia in Brisbane on 18 January and West Indies scoring 395 against Bangladesh in Chattogram on Sunday—both on the last day.

Elon Musk to set an exemplary tunnel under Miami city

Elon Musk told Miami’s mayor Friday that The Boring Company could dig a two-mile tunnel under the city for as little as $30 million and asked them to complete the work within six months, which is originally done in four-years.

In a video posted on Twitter, Mayor Francis Suarez shared this information about his “wonderful call” with Musk. “He is focused on trying to deliver a project that, for the least amount of money, will have the maximum utility for our residents,” Suarez said. “The order of magnitude is substantial in terms of savings.”

Musk first tweeted about wanting to tunnel under Miami on January 18th.

“Cars & trucks stuck in traffic generate megatons of toxic gases & particulate, but @boringcompany road tunnels under Miami would solve traffic & be an example to the world,” he wrote.

The billionaire also informed via Twitter that he had already spoken to Ron DeSantis – Florida Governor – about the idea. “If Governor & Mayor want this done, we will do it.”

“I think we have a unique opportunity to create a signature project not just for Miami, but for the world,” Suarez said Friday that he will speak to the Miami Authorities.

Since the city is constructed on limestone, tunneling under Miami will be difficult. For the sky-high price tag quoted in 2018 that hurdle is one reason.

The price of a tunnel under the Port of Miami, which was less than a mile but still cost about $700 million, also helped to rise.

On Friday The Miami Herald informed that the limestone bedrock and the consequence of rising sea levels were among the key points for the call.

Formerly, Musk has been talking about digging tunnels as deep underground as skyscrapers are tall.

Musk commenced The Boring Company in 2016 with a small group of people, and completed projects around the country since then.

Although the goal and scope of the tunnels have been shifted to some extent over time now the company’s aim is to make a transportation service that uses Teslas traveling through the tunnels.

Companies to address the selfie camera notch dilemma

Apparently, many firms are attempting to address the selfie camera notch dilemma in different ways. Oppo has a concept that they could introduce as early as this year that allows a single pop-up camera module to use mirrors to take both front and backward images from a single unit.
A light path deflecting mirror will be used for the pop-up module, identical to a concept that Xiaomi has patented but arguably more advanced. The architecture of Xiaomi only uses one mirror, while Oppo uses two that are arranged in a triangle shape. In order to adjust the direction that the two cameras can image, that device reflects light paths as required.
The urge to find a way to get around the cutout of the front-facing camera as well as the “camera bump” on the back of smartphones seems to be very high, as many companies from Samsung and Vivo, Xiaomi and Oppo, all patent various ways to try and solve the issue.
Usually, pop-up cameras have been brittle and vulnerable to malfunction, so it is uncertain why it remains a common option, at least in early patent designs, among businesses.
