General Qamar Javed Bajwa Receives Bahrain’s top military award

Karachi: General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), received Bahrain’s top military award from Salman bin Hamad.

Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad gave the award for making indispensable contributions to defense cooperation while COAS was visiting the Arab state.

Crown Prince welcomed General Bajwa wholeheartedly and highlighted a number of aspects of bilateral ties between Pakistan and Bahrain, more precisely within military and defense cooperation.

His Royal Highness appreciated the strength of the bond shared between both countries, and how it promotes regional stability and security.

General Bajwa expressed his gratitude to the King for presenting him with the Bahrain Order (First Class).

Export of kinnow suspends due sit –ins of protesters at different places in Karachi

The exporters are likely to face huge financial losses due to the inaccessibility of export containers of kinnow to the seaport.

According to reports, 400 export containers of kinnow worth USD 4.6 million are standing still awaiting transportation to the seaport.

If the reefer containers are not supplied with electricity to maintain the specific temperature, hundreds of containers loaded with Kinnow are likely to get spoiled waiting at the side.

Fears of New attacks arise after rioters breach Capitol, Foreign Media

After the chaos that took place at the Capital hill, Law enforcement in Washington DC is “on high alert” as the pro-Trump mob has remained in the area.

According to the reports of foreign media, the fears of another attack are still lingering since the attackers are still free and must be roaming in the area.

Imran Guarantees to visit Quetta if Hazara community Buries the slain Martyrs today

Karachi: Prime Minister Imran Khan guaranteed the Hazara community that he will pay visit to Quetta today when the dead bodies are buried. It is not appropriate to make the burial conditional on the arrival of the PM.

Maryam and Bilawal pay visit to Hazara

Karachi: Chairman PPP, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, and Vice President PML-N, Maryam Nawaz, paid a visit to Hazara to condole with the families of the slain miners. 

On Thursday, the protest of the Hazara community entered the fifth day as they still await PM Imran Khan’s arrival.

The PDM leaders addressed the protesters.

Bilawal Bhutto said in the address that it is unfortunate to visit Balochistan capital not to celebrate but to condole with the people who lost their loved ones in the brutal attack.

He also said that Hazaras are repeatedly targetted by the terrorist and many had lost their lives. “The blood of our laborers is cheap, and that of political workers, police officers, lawyers, residents, and the Hazara community” he lamented.

He appealed to the state to provide justice to the patriots.

Addressing the Hazaras protesters, PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz said that “your loved ones have been snatched from you,”

“I offer my heartfelt condolences on the resurrection that befell you, we have been watching as the protest continued for five days”.

Maryam Nawaz, who implied PM Imran Khan, said “he lacks sympathy” but, “we will not allow him to ignore Hazaras sufferings”.

She also said that she came to visit on the direction of his father, Nawaz Sharif.

Maryam Nawaz added that she shares their grief and “I am not in the government. I can do nothing for you except raise my voice”.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani were also present.

Pak Army successfully conducts Fatah-1, Guided Multi Launch Rocket System

Karachi: Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced on 7 January that Pakistan made a successful attempt to launch its Guided Multi rocket system.

In a test flight, Fatah-1 Pakistan tested the “indigenously developed rocket which is capable of “delivering a conventional Warhead upto a range of 140 km” according to ISPR on Thursday.

Fatah-1 will give Pakistan Army the ability to target engagement accurately.

On successful conduct of flight test, The President, Prime Minister, COAS, and Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee also lauded the achievement of troops and scientists.

Congress announces Biden’s victory after deadly riot at the Capitol

Vice President Mike Pence declared, on Thursday that Joe Biden has won the election and is now elected as the President of America. 

The announcement was made after the counting of the Electoral College votes. however, on Wednesday, Biden’s inauguration unfolded into chaos as angry Trump supporters stormed the Capitol in order to halt the process.

The counting was interrupted by the pro-Trump mob and consequently resulted in disgraceful violence leaving 4 people dead.

However, the police took control of the situation and evacuated the Senate floor.

Afterward, President Trump was in denial and did not accept his loss and labeled the election in his tweet as “stolen” which later was restricted by Twitter.

Foreign media accused Trump of escalating the violence and motivating his supporters to “walk over” to the Capitol.

Mr. Trump had said that VP Mike Pence has the authority to revoke the results of the “stolen” election but Pence, on Wednesday, defied Trump and said that he could not alter the outcome.

In a tweet, Trump wrote “I am asking for everyone at the U.S. Capitol to remain peaceful. No violence! Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order – respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue. Thank you!”

He also sent a video message to all the protesters to “go home now and we have to have peace.”

However, in a video message, he acknowledged the “pain” of all the pro-Trump mutineers saying that “we had an election that was stolen from us.”

The South African cricket team to come to Pakistan on a special flight

Karachi: A special flight of the South African cricket team is allowed by the Civil Aviation Authority to visit Pakistan later this month.

According to the reports, the request to allow the South African cricket team to visit Pakistan was made by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

The flight is expected to arrive from the UK on 16 January, according to the details 27 cricket players and a team of 11 officials will have to abide by the SOPs. The team will be tested for corona and will quarantine themselves before the match.

However, the two South African members will travel separately from Emirates Air flight EK604 who will arrive on 7 January.

Civil Aviation Authority divides into 3 divisions

Karachi: The notification regarding the reorganization of the CAA said that after the approval of the CAA Board, the Director-General of Civil Aviation sent written letters for immediate implementation of the orders.

The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is deciding to reorganize the authority into three divisions.

CAA released a notification, the CAA is divided into Regulatory, Airports Services, and Operations Division.

According to the notification, Additional DG Regulatory and Additional DG Airports and Operations will be under DG CAA.

In the notification issued regarding the reorganization, it was said that the Deputy DG Regulatory, Deputy DG Safety will be subordinates of Additional DG Regulatory.

It is hoped that the reorganization of the CAA will improve service delivery and governance in the organization.

Bitcoin is sold more than $35,000 for the first time in Asia

Karachi: Bitcoin, rises to $35,879 on Wednesday, was trading above $35,000 for the first time in Asia.

The world’s most famous cryptocurrency, on Dec 16, 2020, had reached $20,000 for the first time almost three weeks earlier.

Bitcoin hit a peak of $20,800 and gained 170pc or more for the year 2020 which remained in demand for the investors.

The digital currency’s rally saw an enormous flow of coin from Asia to North America as the demand increased for the currency by bigger investors in the US.

according to Reuters’s report British fund manager, Ruffer Investment Management made a bet on bitcoin which is worth $745 million.

On the one hand, some investors view the rally in bitcoin as a possible safe haven.

On the other, some are discouraged by the uncertain nature of the crypto market. However, the crypto industry in the United States helped alleviate some of these fears.

Mach Grievers Deny to bury their Slain Miners

Karachi: Sit-in with the dead bodies of Mach slain miners in Quetta highway enters the fourth day. Despite several efforts by federal ministers and the provincial government, the protesters refused to negotiate.

The mourners are insistent on the arrival of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

According to the news, the sit-in of 11 victims’ families of the Machh tragedy is continuing with the dead bodies under the open sky as the Hazara community refuses to accede to Sheikh Rashid’s call.

Nonetheless, the mercury dropped to minus 8 degrees Celsius in Quetta and the weather remains extremely harsh.

On Monday night when Sheikh Rashid, the Interior Minister, and Qasim Suri, Deputy Speaker National Assembly, visited for negotiation with the sit-in participants, the family demanded the arrival of the Prime Minister and the resignation of the provincial government.

Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed told the victims’ families that the government is ready to accept all their demands other than the resignation of the provincial government.

Interior Minister also requested to call off the protest and lay the slain bodies to rest.

The mourners of the victims’ of Mach also asked to form a judicial commission on the issue.

Federal Minister Ali Zaidi and Zulfi Bukhari also arrived for talks with the protesters, but the participants refused to end the sit-in and bury the bodies until the arrival of the Prime Minister.

According to the report released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the value of the dollar has risen by 35 paise in the interbank market.

Engin Altan cancels contract with Kashif Zameer

Karachi: Turkish actor Engin Altan Dziyatan also known as Ertugrul Ghazi has called off his contract with Pakistani Tik Toker Kashif Zameer, who invited the actor to Pakistan.

According to the report, Turkish Drama lead, Engin Altan Dziatan canceled a million contract with Pakistani Tik Toker and businessman Kashif Zameer and will no longer come to Pakistan for shoot.

Usama Murder Case: Police sealed records due to discrepancies 

Karachi: On the morning of January 2, Islamabad police sealed off all records related to the killing of Usama Satti on the orders of senior officers.

According to the report, police officers told on condition of anonymity that the records had been sealed because of disparities.

Records show a vehicle moving from the G-10 signal to police lines, a sub-inspector who was among the officers who shot the young man, stopped the vehicle near the G-10 signal.

Pak-Army troops shoot down an Indian spying quadcopter

Karachi: Pakistan Army troops, on Saturday, gunned down an Indian spying quadcopter today in Chakothi Sector along Line of control.

According to the ISPR, “The quadcopter intruded 500 meters on Pakistan’s side of #LOC. Similarly, on January 1, 2021, another Indian quadcopter was shot down by Pakistan Army in Nausheri Sector along LOC.”
