Strict Punishment for Armaghan Qureshi – A Wake-Up Call

Crime doesn’t happen in isolation. It grows when families fail, when society ignores warning signs, and when authorities look the other way. The case of Armaghan Qureshi and his father, Kamran Asghar Qureshi, exposes a broken system. This blog uncovers their crimes, the system’s failures, and how we can prevent more tragedies like this. It also calls for strict punishment for Armaghan to ensure justice for his victim, Mustafa Amir.

A Father’s Influence on Crime

Children learn from their parents. If a father engages in crime, the child might follow. Kamran Asghar Qureshi was a law graduate, but instead of practicing law, he allegedly ran illegal businesses. Reports link him to drug trafficking, financial fraud, and other crimes. His choices shaped his son’s future.

Armaghan grew up seeing crime as normal. He learned that money and power could bend the law. This mindset set him on a dangerous path. His story shows why parenting and home environments matter in crime prevention.

Armaghan Qureshi’s Criminal Path

Armaghan did not start with murder. He began with financial crimes. In 2019, at just 24 years old, he faced charges for embezzling money. That same year, he got involved in drug smuggling through the dark web.

Authorities arrested him, but he found a way out. He returned to crime soon after. In 2023, he ran a fraudulent call center under the disguise of a software house. He scammed people, stealing large amounts of money. He became more reckless and powerful.

The system failed. He should have been stopped earlier. Instead, he continued unchecked, leading to his worst crime yet.

Mustafa Amir Murder Case: Zuma and Angelina Reveal Crucial Details

The Brutal Murder of Mustafa Amir

In January 2025, Armaghan crossed the ultimate line. He and his accomplice, Sheraz, kidnapped and murdered Mustafa Amir, his own friend. The details are horrifying.

They abducted Mustafa, killed him, and attempted to burn his body in Hub, Balochistan. They wanted to erase all evidence. But investigations revealed the truth. Mustafa lost his life because of Armaghan’s unchecked rise in crime.

How did it come to this? How did someone with a record of financial crimes and drug smuggling escalate to murder? The answer lies in a failing system.

The Role of Police Corruption

Crime flourishes when criminals find allies in law enforcement. Reports suggest that a police officer from Gizri Police Station helped Armaghan instead of stopping him.

This officer allegedly acted as a facilitator, possibly protecting Armaghan or ignoring his activities. Corruption like this allows criminals to operate freely. It weakens trust in the police and endangers the public.

Had authorities acted earlier, Mustafa might still be alive. This case is a wake-up call for stronger action against corrupt officials.

Why Do Criminals Like Armaghan Go Unchecked?

Many criminals start small. They test boundaries. If no one stops them, they escalate. Armaghan’s case is a perfect example.

  1. Lack of Immediate Punishment – He committed crimes in 2019 but faced little real consequence.
  2. Influence and Corruption – His father’s status and connections helped him avoid justice.
  3. Weak Law Enforcement – Police failed to track his activities properly.
  4. Lack of Public Awareness – Many victims of fraud and scams do not report crimes.

A system that ignores early crimes creates bigger criminals. Society pays the price.

How to Stop Future Criminals Like Armaghan

Stopping crime requires action at every level. Here’s what we must do:

1. Strengthen Families and Parenting

Parents shape a child’s values. If children grow up in criminal environments, they may follow the same path. Families must promote ethical values. Schools and communities should also educate parents on raising law-abiding citizens.

2. Improve Education on Crime Prevention

Schools should teach students about the consequences of crime. Young people need to understand that financial fraud, drug smuggling, and other crimes lead to destruction. Anti-crime awareness programs can help prevent youth from being influenced by criminal activities.

3. Introduce Rehabilitation Programs

First-time offenders should get a chance to reform. Many criminals start small and escalate. Rehabilitation programs, counseling, and mentorship can redirect them before it’s too late.

4. Fix Police Corruption

Authorities must identify and remove corrupt police officers. Strict internal monitoring is necessary. Independent anti-corruption agencies should oversee law enforcement. The law must punish officers who protect criminals.

5. Encourage Community Reporting

Communities must report suspicious activities. Fear of retaliation often stops people from coming forward. The government must ensure witness protection and confidentiality. Public cooperation can help catch criminals before they commit serious crimes.

6. Stricter Legal Consequences

Laws must be enforced properly. Repeat offenders like Armaghan should not walk free. Courts should ensure quick trials and severe penalties for habitual criminals.

7. Monitor High-Risk Individuals

Authorities should track individuals with a history of fraud, drug crimes, and violent behavior. If someone shows repeated criminal tendencies, law enforcement should intervene before they commit worse crimes.

Demanding Justice: Punishment for Armaghan Qureshi

Armaghan Qureshi should receive the maximum legal punishment for his crimes. Justice must be served for Mustafa Amir’s family and for society.

His punishment should:

  • Match the severity of his crimes – Financial fraud, drug smuggling, and premeditated murder.
  • Send a strong message – Criminals must know they will not escape justice.
  • Expose his accomplices – The corrupt police officers and others who helped him must also face consequences.

If Armaghan escapes with a light sentence, it will only encourage more crime. The public must demand strict action.

Lessons from the Armaghan Qureshi Case

This case is not just about one criminal. It is about a broken system that allows crime to grow.

  • A criminal father influenced his son.
  • Weak law enforcement let Armaghan continue crimes.
  • Police corruption protected him.
  • A life was lost because no one stopped him earlier.

We must learn from this. If we don’t take action now, more criminals like Armaghan will emerge. More innocent lives will be lost.

Final Thoughts: A Call for Justice

Armaghan Qureshi should have been stopped long before Mustafa Amir’s murder. His case exposes deep flaws in our system. We cannot afford to let history repeat itself.

To prevent more criminals like Armaghan:

  • Families must teach values.
  • Schools must educate on crime prevention.
  • The police must act against criminals, not protect them.
  • The public must report crimes without fear.
  • The law must deliver quick and strict justice.

Crime does not stop by itself. Society must take responsibility. The justice system must be stronger. Corruption must end. Only then can we prevent the next Armaghan Qureshi.

Protests Erupt Across Karachi Over Water and Power Shortages

Karachi witnessed widespread water and power protests on Tuesday, bringing traffic to a standstill in several areas. Frustrated residents blocked major roads, demanding immediate action. The crisis, worsened by infrastructure work, is expected to last until Friday, raising concerns about further unrest.

Roads Blocked, Traffic Disrupted

Protesters gathered at key locations, obstructing roads and causing severe traffic congestion. Both tracks of several major roads were shut down, forcing authorities to redirect vehicles. The Karachi Traffic Police (KTP) reported significant delays across the city, particularly on University Road near old Sabzi Mandi, where a damaged water line disrupted supply.

Protests Spread Across the City

Demonstrations took place in multiple areas, with Arambagh, Eidgah Chowk, Tibet Centre, and Fresco Chowk among the worst affected in the South Zone. Retired employees of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation also held protests on MA Jinnah Road, though their concerns were related to pensions.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Syed Asad Raza warned of escalating tensions, as many neighborhoods may remain without water until the issue is resolved. Police engaged with demonstrators and redirected traffic but emphasized that the root problem must be addressed by the authorities.

Authorities Acknowledge Growing Crisis

Traffic DIG Pir Mohammed Shah revealed that Karachi has seen at least 190 protests and sit-ins in the last two months, mostly over water and power shortages. He noted that two to three such protests occur daily, highlighting the severity of the crisis.

He stressed the urgent need for a resolution to prevent ongoing disruptions.

Key Roads Remain Closed

  • Jehangir Road near Shah Najaf: Blocked by residents protesting water and power shortages.
  • Jamshed Road: Both tracks near a Pakistan State Oil petrol pump were closed due to similar protests.
  • Landhi-89 and Murtaza Chowrangi: Residents blocked roads, demanding water supply restoration.
  • Garden Area: The main road remained shut as people voiced frustration over prolonged shortages.
  • Korangi Industrial Area: Workers and residents also staged protests, disrupting movement in the region.

A Long-Term Challenge

Authorities acknowledged the gravity of the situation. DIG Raza stated that while police could manage traffic and communicate with protesters, only civic authorities could resolve the crisis. He emphasized that efforts to improve the city’s infrastructure, such as encroachment removal, must be consistently implemented.

With water shortages expected to persist, Karachi faces increasing public frustration. The situation demands urgent intervention to prevent further disruptions and ensure essential services for residents.

Iran Rejects US Talks Amid ‘Maximum Pressure’ Sanctions

Iran has ruled out direct negotiations with the United States on its nuclear program, citing President Donald Trump’s renewed “maximum pressure” campaign. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi made this clear after meeting with Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Tehran. The announcement follows the latest round of US sanctions, which target Iran’s vital oil industry.

No Talks Under Pressure

During a joint press conference on Tuesday, Araghchi dismissed the possibility of talks with Washington under current conditions.

“Iran’s stance is clear. We will not negotiate under pressure and sanctions,” he stated. “As long as the maximum pressure campaign continues, direct talks with the US are out of the question.”

His comments align with the recent statements of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who also rejected negotiations, calling them “neither smart, wise, nor honorable”. However, Khamenei did not reinstate the formal ban on US-Iran talks that was in place during Trump’s first term.

Trump Restores Hardline Policy

Since returning to office, Trump has revived his hardline stance on Iran, reinstating severe economic measures aimed at crippling Iran’s oil exports. This policy mirrors his 2018 decision to withdraw from the 2015 nuclear deal, which had lifted sanctions in exchange for restrictions on Iran’s nuclear activities.

Following the US withdrawal, Iran breached several restrictions under the deal, arguing that it was no longer bound by the agreement. Attempts to revive the accord under former President Joe Biden failed, leaving diplomatic efforts at a standstill.

Iran Engages with European Powers

While rejecting talks with the US, Iran has revived negotiations with Germany, France, and Britain—the E3 nations that remain committed to salvaging the nuclear deal. On Monday, Iran held another round of discussions with the European trio, signaling a willingness to engage diplomatically, but on its own terms.

Russia, a key ally of Iran, has supported Tehran’s position, advocating for a diplomatic solution that does not involve US intervention. Lavrov reaffirmed Moscow’s commitment to working with Iran to counter Washington’s aggressive policies.

Future of US-Iran Relations

With tensions escalating, the path forward remains uncertain. The maximum pressure policy is pushing Iran further away from negotiations with Washington, while engagement with European allies and Russia continues. Whether the renewed US sanctions will force Iran back to the table or deepen the diplomatic deadlock remains to be seen.

Kremlin Welcomes US Shift on Ukraine After UN Vote

The Kremlin praised Washington for taking a more balanced stance on Ukraine following a UN Security Council resolution that omitted criticism of Russia. Moscow viewed this shift as a sign of US willingness to pursue peace, while European countries abstained from the vote, revealing a deepening divide with Washington.

A Significant Shift in US Policy

The Trump administration introduced a neutral resolution on the war’s third anniversary, calling for a swift end to the conflict and lasting peace. This marked a sharp departure from the Biden administration’s stance, which had strongly supported Kyiv.

The resolution, passed late Monday, received Russia’s backing, but European allies, including France, the UK, Denmark, Greece, and Slovenia, chose to abstain. Russia’s UN ambassador, Vassily Nebenzia, welcomed what he called “constructive changes” in US policy.

European Allies Express Discontent

Britain’s UN ambassador, Barbara Woodward, expressed concerns over the resolution’s wording. She argued that the resolution failed to differentiate between Russia’s role as the aggressor and Ukraine as the victim. The UK had proposed amendments to clarify this, but they were rejected.

“We support peace, but there should be no false equivalence between Russia and Ukraine,” Woodward stated. Due to this omission, the UK and other European nations refused to endorse the resolution.

Contrasting Votes at the UN

This was the first Security Council resolution on the war to pass since the invasion, as Russia’s veto had blocked previous attempts. However, the General Assembly vote told a different story.

While the Security Council’s resolution avoided blaming Russia, the General Assembly overwhelmingly condemned Moscow’s actions. A Ukraine-EU-led resolution labeling Russia as the aggressor received 93 votes in favor, though Russia, the US, Israel, Belarus, and North Korea voted against it.

Although General Assembly resolutions are non-binding, they carry significant diplomatic weight. The vote exposed growing divisions between the US and its European allies over Ukraine.

Growing US-Russia Engagement

The shift in US policy towards Russia follows Donald Trump’s renewed diplomatic efforts. He has prioritized direct talks with Putin, sidelining Ukraine in negotiations. Reports suggest that the US is pushing Kyiv into an economic deal involving critical minerals and rare-earth resources to compensate for US war aid.

Trump also met French President Emmanuel Macron to discuss peace efforts and NATO’s future. Meanwhile, Germany’s likely next chancellor, Friedrich Merz, called for greater European independence from US influence, signaling further tension between Washington and its allies.

Trump confirmed ongoing negotiations with Putin, emphasizing plans for economic cooperation between Russia and the US. “I am in serious discussions with President Putin regarding the war’s resolution and major economic deals,” he stated.

With Washington’s position evolving, the global response to the war is shifting, reshaping alliances and diplomatic strategies.

Gwadar’s New Airport Stands Empty Amid Local Struggles

Pakistan’s New Gwadar International Airport, a $240 million project fully funded by China, remains idle months after its completion. With no passengers or flights, the airport raises questions about its purpose and the broader impact of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

An Empty Landmark in a Struggling City

Located in Gwadar, Balochistan, the airport boasts modern infrastructure and a 400,000-passenger capacity. However, the surrounding city of 90,000 residents faces severe water shortages, unreliable electricity, and a struggling economy. Despite promises of transformation, local development remains stagnant.

Authorities claim the airport is a game-changer for trade and tourism. However, many experts believe its primary purpose is to facilitate Chinese access to Gwadar rather than benefit locals. Azeem Khalid, an international relations expert, argues that China’s investments in the region focus on securing economic and strategic interests, not uplifting the local population.

CPEC and the Rising Conflict in Balochistan

The airport is part of CPEC, a multi-billion-dollar project linking China’s Xinjiang province to Pakistan’s Arabian Sea coast. While the initiative promises economic growth, it has also fueled long-standing tensions in Balochistan.

Separatist insurgents in the province accuse the Pakistani government of exploiting resources while neglecting local communities. Over the years, these groups have attacked both Chinese workers and Pakistani military forces, opposing the perceived foreign control over their homeland.

A City Under Heavy Security

To safeguard Chinese investments, the Pakistani government has increased military presence in Gwadar. The city is filled with checkpoints, barricades, and watchtowers. Roads frequently close for the safe passage of Chinese workers and Pakistani officials, disrupting daily life for locals.

Journalists face tight restrictions, and even places like Gwadar’s fish market are off-limits for media coverage. Khuda Bakhsh Hashim, a 76-year-old resident, recalls a time when Gwadar was open and peaceful. Before joining Pakistan, it was part of Oman and served as a key stop for ships heading to Mumbai.

“Now, we are constantly asked for identification,” says Hashim. “We are residents, yet we must prove who we are. Those asking should identify themselves first.”

Promises of Growth vs. Reality

The Pakistani government claims CPEC has created 2,000 jobs in the region. However, locals question whether these opportunities truly benefit Baloch residents or mostly attract workers from other provinces.

Meanwhile, Gwadar continues to suffer from water shortages due to drought and unchecked exploitation. Businesses struggle, and many locals remain jobless.

What’s Next for Gwadar’s Airport?

The New Gwadar International Airport was meant to symbolize progress. Instead, it stands as an empty reminder of the disconnect between large-scale projects and local needs. Until basic infrastructure, employment, and security improve, Gwadar’s transformation will remain a distant dream.

New York City Ends Roosevelt Hotel Lease Amid Taxpayer Concerns

New York City cancels Roosevelt Hotel lease, a decision driven by mounting criticism over taxpayer money being used to house asylum seekers. The $220 million agreement, signed with Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), is now officially terminated.

Mayor Justifies Decision

Mayor Eric Adams announced the decision, citing financial concerns and pressure from both the federal government and conservative critics. He emphasized that ending the lease would save the city millions in taxpayer dollars.

The Roosevelt Hotel, which closed in 2020 due to financial losses during the COVID-19 pandemic, reopened in 2023 as a shelter for migrants. The hotel played a crucial role in processing asylum seekers, handling nearly 75% of new arrivals in the city.

Sharp Decline in Migrant Arrivals

At the height of the migrant crisis in 2023, New York City received 4,000 asylum seekers per week. However that number has now dropped to 350. With fewer migrants arriving, city officials saw an opportunity to cut costs by ending the Roosevelt Hotel’s lease.

The hotel housed thousands of migrants across its 1,025 rooms, with an estimated nightly cost of $200 per room. Critics argued that taxpayer money should not be used to fund such expenses, adding pressure on Adams to make budget cuts.

The Roosevelt Hotel’s Complex Ownership

The Roosevelt Hotel, named after Theodore Roosevelt, has a long history. It opened in 1924, serving as a landmark for New York’s elite. Over the years, ownership changed hands multiple times.

In 1979, American real estate developer Paul Milstein leased the hotel to PIA. By 2000, PIA, in partnership with Saudi Prince Faisal bin Khalid, acquired full ownership. Later, PIA took complete control, making it a Pakistani government asset.

Privatization Efforts and Future Plans

In June 2023, the Pakistani government signed a three-year lease with New York City, allowing the hotel to serve as a migrant shelter. However by February 2024, Pakistan’s caretaker government began discussions on a joint venture development plan as part of PIA’s privatization process.

By August 2024, the Privatization Commission Board recommended a joint venture as the best strategy for the hotel’s future. However with the lease now canceled, PIA and Pakistani authorities must reassess their plans for the historic 19-story property.

What’s Next for the Roosevelt Hotel?

With New York City terminating its lease, the Roosevelt Hotel faces an uncertain future. Pakistan may push forward with privatization or explore new leasing options. In conclusion the decision will be closely watched, as the hotel remains a valuable asset in the heart of Manhattan.

Pakistan’s Champions Trophy Disaster: What Went Wrong?

Pakistan’s early exit from the Champions Trophy was a crushing blow, especially as hosts and defending champions. Losses to New Zealand and India sealed their fate, making their final match against Bangladesh irrelevant. The failure exposed deep flaws in team selection, preparation, and strategy.

Chaotic Preparation and Injuries

Pakistan’s lead-up to the tournament was promising. Under Mohammad Rizwan’s captaincy, they secured historic wins in Australia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa. However, setbacks soon followed.

Key opener Saim Ayub suffered an ankle injury during a Test in South Africa. Pakistan delayed announcing their squad, hoping he would recover, but he didn’t. Further trouble hit when Fakhar Zaman was ruled out after their opening loss to New Zealand.

Pakistan’s pace attack of Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, and Haris Rauf, rested from the Test series, failed to find rhythm. They struggled in the death overs, conceding crucial runs that cost Pakistan the games.

Read: Pakistan’s ODI Struggles Exposed Again in Crushing Loss to India

Selection Blunders Cost the Team

Selectors ignored calls to include a second specialist spinner, relying instead on part-time options Salman Agha and Khushdil Shah, who took just one wicket in two matches.

A questionable decision saw an out-of-form Babar Azam promoted to open alongside Fakhar. When Fakhar was injured, Imam-ul-Haq was called in but failed to make an impact, scoring just 10 runs against India.

Adding to the confusion, selectors picked Khushdil Shah and Faheem Ashraf based on performances in Bangladesh’s T20 league, despite their long absence from ODIs. Ashraf had not played a 50-over match in two years, and Khushdil in three.

Former captain Rashid Latif slammed the selections, calling them politically influenced rather than based on merit.

Outdated Playing Style Exposed

Former star Shahid Afridi harshly criticized Pakistan’s old-fashioned approach. While other teams play aggressive, modern cricket, Pakistan stuck to a conservative style from the 1980s and 1990s.

A major issue was the excessive dot balls. Pakistan played 152 dot balls against India, including 28 in the first six overs. Against New Zealand, 162 dot balls limited their total to 260 runs in 47.2 overs.

Afridi insisted that Pakistan needs a complete system overhaul to develop players with an aggressive mindset.

The Road Ahead

Pakistan’s early exit from the Champions Trophy has raised serious concerns. To stay competitive in modern cricket, they must revamp selection strategies, adopt aggressive tactics, and develop a fearless mindset. Without these changes, Pakistan risks falling further behind the world’s best teams.

Hamas Leadership Thanks Maulana Rehman

The Hamas leadership thanked Maulana Fazlur Rehman for his support. They emphasized the strong bond between Pakistan and Palestine.

Israel Delays Release of Palestinian Prisoners

The meeting came as Israel announced a delay in releasing hundreds of Palestinian prisoners. Israel had planned to free them but postponed the move until Hamas met certain conditions.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office stated on Sunday that Israel would wait to release 620 Palestinian prisoners. The delay came after concerns about how Hamas handled previous hostage handovers.

Hostage Handover Controversy

The United Nations criticized Hamas for making hostages appear on stage before their release. Some were also made to carry coffins with hostage remains through crowds.

Israel accused Hamas of violating the month-old ceasefire multiple times. This came after Hamas handed over six hostages from Gaza on Saturday under the truce agreement.

The six hostages were the last living Israeli captives freed during the first phase of the ceasefire. The bodies of four deceased Israeli hostages are expected to be handed over next week.

Saudi Arabia Reaffirms $500 Million Commitment to Polio

Saudi Arabia has reaffirmed its $500 million commitment to polio eradication, ensuring that 370 million children receive vaccinations annually. This pledge, originally made in April 2024, was highlighted again at the fourth Riyadh International Humanitarian Forum. The funding supports the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) in its mission to eliminate the disease worldwide.

A Step Toward a Polio-Free World

The Kingdom’s renewed support reinforces its role in global health efforts. Speaking at the event, H.E. Dr. Abdullah al Rabeeah emphasized the significance of protecting vulnerable children.

He stressed that this funding would safeguard future generations from a preventable disease.

Polio Cases Drop by 99% Since 1988

Since the GPEI’s establishment in 1988, global polio cases have decreased by over 99%. This success is due to the commitment of affected countries, support from GPEI partners, and generous donor contributions.

However, polio remains a global health threat. The World Health Organization (WHO) recently confirmed that poliovirus transmission is still classified as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC).

Travel Advisory Amid Ongoing Outbreaks

In response to continued poliovirus outbreaks, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a travel advisory. The CDC urges travelers visiting high-risk areas to be fully vaccinated against polio. As of 2025, polio has been detected in 39 countries, making immunization essential for international travelers.

Saudi Arabia’s Role in Global Health

Saudi Arabia’s continued investment in polio eradication reflects its commitment to humanitarian causes. By funding vaccination campaigns, the Kingdom plays a crucial role in protecting millions of children and bringing the world closer to a polio-free future.

With strong international cooperation and sustained funding, the goal of eradicating polio once and for all remains within reach.

Hamas Demands Prisoner Release Before Further Ceasefire Talks

Hamas has declared that no further ceasefire negotiations with Israel will take place unless 620 Palestinian prisoners are released as previously agreed. The demand has escalated tensions as the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire deal nears its expiration.

Israel Delays Prisoner Release

On Sunday, Israel delayed the release of 620 Palestinian detainees, citing Hamas’s violations of the agreement. Israeli officials accused Hamas of “humiliating” hostages during handover ceremonies and using them for propaganda purposes.

The exchange was supposed to include six living and four deceased hostages in return for the prisoners. Reports indicate that some Palestinian detainees had already boarded buses in the occupied West Bank when the order to halt the process was issued.

Hamas Calls Move a “Blatant Violation”

Hamas condemned Israel’s decision as a “blatant violation” of the ceasefire deal. The group warned that further discussions on a longer truce or hostage exchanges would not happen unless the agreed-upon prisoners were freed.

Hamas official Basem Naim urged mediators, particularly the US, Qatar, and Egypt, to pressure Israel into honoring the agreement. He claimed Israel was intentionally “sabotaging the deal” and creating conditions for a return to war.

Hostage Handover Controversy

On Saturday, Hamas released six Israeli hostages. However, their handover was staged on platforms beside armed Hamas fighters, a move that angered Israel. A video also emerged showing two other hostages pleading with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to secure their release.

The situation escalated further when Hamas mistakenly handed over the body of a Palestinian woman instead of Israeli hostage Shiri Bibas. The group later corrected the error, but Israeli authorities accused them of further deceit.

Growing International Concerns

The United Nations has expressed concerns that the temporary ceasefire is in “grave danger” due to these developments. UN Secretary-General António Guterres urged both sides to prevent a return to war, stressing the need for a “dignified release of all hostages.”

Meanwhile, the White House supported Israel’s decision to delay the prisoner release, stating that Hamas’s treatment of hostages was “barbaric”. However, US Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff plans to travel to the region to push for an extension of the ceasefire.

What’s Next?

The first phase of the ceasefire, lasting six weeks, is set to end on Saturday. The deal originally outlined a prisoner-hostage exchange, withdrawal of Israeli troops from urban Gaza, and increased humanitarian aid.

The second phase was expected to bring a permanent ceasefire, the release of all hostages, and a full Israeli military withdrawal. However, with rising tensions and mutual accusations of violations, the future of the truce remains uncertain.

Gold Rates Hit Record Highs on February 24

Gold rates surged to a record high on Monday, February 24. This rise occurred in Pakistan and international markets. Safe-haven demand drove the increase. Investors rushed to buy bullion amid global uncertainty.

The price of 24 karat gold per tola jumped by Rs1500. It hit an all-time high of Rs309,500. This is a rise from Rs308,000 on the previous trading day. The All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewelers Association confirmed the figures. In short, gold in Pakistan reached a new peak.

The 10 grams of 24 karat gold also saw a jump. Its price increased by Rs1286. It now stands at Rs265,346 compared to Rs264,060 before. This rise marks a clear trend in domestic bullion prices.

Silver Prices Gain Ground

Silver prices also moved upward. The cost of silver increased by Rs15. It now stands at Rs3,395. Though the increase was modest, it reflects a broader move in precious metals. Investors continue to show interest in silver as well.

In international markets, gold prices climbed. The price of gold increased by $12. It now sits at $2,948, up from $2,936. This boost shows a consistent global demand for gold.

Other precious metals moved in different directions. Spot silver eased by 0.3% to $32.45 an ounce. Platinum shed 0.8% to $961.95. Palladium lost 2.2% to $948.00. These changes highlight a varied market landscape.

Dollar’s Influence on Bullion

The U.S. dollar index touched its lowest level since December 10. This drop made bullion more affordable for buyers using other currencies. A weaker dollar often drives investors to gold. They see it as a stable store of value.

Market sentiment remains positive. Jim Wyckoff, a senior market analyst at Kitco Metals, commented on the trend. He said investors expect gold prices to keep rising. He noted that uncertainty in the global market fuels safe-haven demand. Wyckoff added that the path for gold remains clear. The metal is set to stay strong as long as uncertainty persists.

Economic and Political Factors

U.S. President Donald Trump recently warned of new tariffs. His warning stirred the market. Many view these plans as inflationary. They fear the tariffs could spark trade wars. Such events push investors toward safe-haven assets like gold.

The SPDR Gold Trust also plays a role. This fund is the world’s largest gold-backed exchange-traded fund. Its holdings increased to 904.38 tonnes on Friday. This level is the highest since August 2023. The trust’s growth mirrors rising investor confidence.

Looking Ahead: The $3,000 Mark

Prices above $2,950 per ounce have drawn significant attention. Investors now focus on the $3,000 mark. The metal has already risen more than 12% in 2025. This has many speculating on future gains. They believe the surge will continue.

Gold rates hit new highs. Both domestic and international prices show a strong upward trend. Short-term gains have raised hopes for a continued rally. Global uncertainties, tariff warnings, and a weak dollar all support this trend. Investors remain bullish on gold. They see it as a safe asset in troubled times. The market now watches keenly as prices edge closer to the $3,000 milestone.

This record surge in gold highlights a dynamic period in the precious metals market. Both buyers and sellers face a changing landscape. The future of gold remains promising.

Israeli-Made Rifle Recovered in Mustafa Amir Murder Case

Karachi – The investigation into Mustafa Amir’s brutal murder has taken a shocking turn as police uncover new details about the weapons seized from the prime suspect, Armaghan Qureishi. Sources reveal that an Israeli-made Uzi rifle was among the firearms recovered from his possession.

Authorities sent at least three weapons belonging to Armaghan to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for analysis. Experts confirmed that one of the weapons was an automatic Israeli-made Uzi. The recovered arms, valued at millions of rupees, were found unlicensed. Armaghan and his father, Kamran Qureishi, failed to provide legal documentation for the weapons.

Confession and Grisly Murder Details

During police interrogation, Armaghan Qureishi confessed to murdering Mustafa Amir. His statement was recorded on video. According to police officials, Armaghan admitted that he drove the victim’s car from Khayaban-e-Mohafiz to Dareji before setting it on fire. Shockingly, Mustafa was still alive and semi-conscious inside the vehicle.

Armaghan disclosed that he assaulted Mustafa before setting the car ablaze. He fired three warning shots with a rifle, but none hit the victim. Investigators believe the attack was premeditated and carried out in a fit of rage.

Mustafa Amir, a young resident of Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA), was kidnapped and allegedly murdered by his friends on January 6. His body was stuffed into the trunk of his car, which was later torched in the Hub area of Balochistan.

Co-Accused Exposes Disturbing Motive

Shiraz, the co-accused in the case, has made startling revelations about Armaghan’s motives. He stated that Armaghan was enraged after a dispute with a girl, which ultimately led to the murder. Shiraz revealed that Mustafa endured hours of torture before being tied up and burned alive.

Investigators suspect that Armaghan’s luxurious lifestyle played a role in fueling his violent temper. Shiraz, who had been friends with Armaghan since childhood, disclosed that their friendship had ended at one point but rekindled when Armaghan recently visited his home.

Police Probe Continues

Authorities are now examining Armaghan’s background, financial dealings, and potential links to illegal arms. The police are also investigating how the suspect acquired high-value weapons, including the Uzi rifle.

Meanwhile, forensic experts are analyzing evidence to establish further links between the recovered weapons and the crime. Police officials assert that the case is nearing completion, and they will soon present a watertight case against the suspects.

The murder of Mustafa Amir has sent shockwaves across Karachi, with demands for swift justice growing louder. The police have assured the victim’s family that they will ensure the perpetrators face the full force of the law.

Rights Group Condemns Elon Musk’s “Reckless” Labeling

Elon Musk is facing backlash for his reckless remarks about Muslim and Arab-American organizations, falsely labeling them as “terrorist organizations.” The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the largest Muslim civil rights group in the U.S., strongly condemned Musk’s statements, calling them defamatory and dangerous.

Musk’s Controversial Comment

The controversy began when Musk responded to a post on X (formerly Twitter) listing several American Muslim and Arab-American nonprofits and linking them to terrorism. Musk wrote, “Why pay terrorist organizations and certain countries to hate us when they’re perfectly willing to do it for free?”

CAIR Responds to Defamation

CAIR issued a strong statement rejecting Musk’s claims. The organization emphasized that these groups have the same legal rights as any other nonprofit to apply for federal funding.

“The Muslim and Arab-American organizations smeared in these defamatory posts are duly registered nonprofits that operate legally in the U.S.,” the statement read. “Many of these charities have even received federal support and worked alongside the government during the Trump administration.”

Call for Accountability

The rights group also challenged Musk to shift his focus, questioning why he does not call out U.S. taxpayer dollars funding Israeli military actions in Gaza.

Dangers of Islamophobic Rhetoric

Nihad Awad, CAIR’s National Executive Director, directly addressed Musk, warning that such rhetoric fuels Islamophobia, discrimination, and real-world violence.

“Elon, baselessly labeling law-abiding American Muslim organizations as ‘terrorist’ is reckless and dangerous,” Awad posted. “This kind of rhetoric fuels Islamophobia, endangers innocent lives, and undermines the values of justice and equality. Do better.”

Growing Concerns Over Misinformation

This incident highlights growing concerns over misinformation and hate speech on social media. Activists and civil rights groups warn that when high-profile figures spread false narratives, they reinforce harmful stereotypes and contribute to discrimination.
