Fans of the famous Pakistani drama Tere Bin are voicing their dissatisfaction with the recent events in the storyline. In the latest episode aired on Geo TV, viewers witnessed Meerab leaving Murtasim’s home following a forced or accidental consummation of their marriage. However, rather than returning to her parent’s house in Karachi, Meerab mysteriously disappeared to an unknown location. Episode 49 has further fueled the fans’ anger and disappointment.
Fans disagree with writer Nooran Makhdoom’s portrayal of the characters and their supposedly intense love for each other. Many viewers argue that Nooran lacks an understanding of real love, claiming that trust is a fundamental element that her characters Meerab and Murtasim lack. According to fans, the writer’s perception of love is flawed.
The fans are particularly critical of Murtasim’s dismissive attitude towards Meerab’s disappearance. They believe Murtasim should have made more effort to search for her at her parents’ and friends’ homes before jumping to conclusions. In addition, fans blame the writer squarely for continuously undermining the main characters’ credibility and for what they perceive as disjointed writing.
However, fans on Twitter acknowledge the intense chemistry between actors Yumna Zaidi and Wahaj Ali, which has somewhat salvaged the drama. They urge Nooran Makhdoom to better portray the characters’ emotions in alignment with their personality traits. One fan criticized the writer for assembling scenes from other successful dramas, emphasizing the need for original storytelling.
Furthermore, fans are questioning Murtasim’s genuine love for Meerab, as they observed him dropping hints to Haya about a potential future together. Such actions have raised doubts about Murtasim’s loyalty and trust in his wife.
The comments from disappointed fans highlight their discontent with the recent direction of Tere Bin and their desire for more authentic and consistent storytelling that aligns with the character’s emotions and motivations.
Here is what people are saying on Twitter
I really laughed so hard at this ???????? The way writer, director, etc… fooled us in thinking its a love story of Meerab n Murtasim ????
The expression, "Whatever goes up, must come down" has never felt more truer than today. Kya kardiya hai in logon ne iss dramay ke saath. Jitna pyaar, shohrat aur popularity iss drama ko mili thi, aab utni hi baisti, gaaliyan aur hate mil rahi hai
Nooran herself admitted to the fact that she's the Haya in her life. I'm not holding my breath over this one. This shaadi can very much happen. Expectations minus main ho chuki hai aab.
ISLAMABAD: In a significant move, the federal government of Pakistan has announced a substantial reduction in the prices of petroleum products, providing much-needed relief to the general public. Finance Minister Ishaq Dar delivered the eagerly awaited announcement in a televised address earlier today.
Effective midnight tonight, petrol prices will be lowered by Rs8 per liter, bringing the new price down to Rs262 per liter. Similarly, the diesel price will be reduced by Rs5 per liter, with the new rate set at Rs253 per liter.
This decision comes as a response to the concerns raised by the public regarding the skyrocketing petrol prices, which had reached an unprecedented high of Rs282 per liter earlier this year. Additionally, the move aims to address the prevalent issue of inflation, which is currently at its peak in the region.
Finance Minister Ishaq Dar emphasized that during May alone, the government had already reduced petrol and diesel prices by Rs20 and Rs35 per liter, respectively. This latest price cut builds upon previous efforts to alleviate the burden on the people.
While the decline in global oil prices has provided some relief, the government still faces challenges in maintaining stable prices due to the devaluation of the national currency, the rupee.
Initially, oil marketing companies (OMCs) estimated a reduction of Rs5 per liter for both petrol and diesel. However, the government has exceeded these projections, demonstrating its commitment to easing the public’s economic strain.
These revised prices will remain unchanged for the next two weeks, offering temporary relief to consumers across Pakistan. The masses have overwhelmingly reacted to government’s decision since the prices of essential commodities have mounted.
As the government continues to address economic challenges, it remains steadfast in implementing policies. Additionally, they have prioritized people’s wellbeing and ensured a stable standard of living for all.

ATC demanded the reasons from DIG operations for search warrants issued for Khan’s residence, Zaman Park.
LARHORE: The anti-terrorism court in Lahore has called upon the DIG operations to clarify the reasons behind the search warrants issued for Imran Khan’s residence in Zaman Park. Imran Khan is the leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
The warrants were issued on May 18 but have been challenged by the PTI Chairman.
During the proceedings, Commissioner Lahore, DC Lahore, and other officials appeared before Judge Abhar Gull in the ATC court. The judge inquired about the officials’ visit to Imran Khan’s residence, and the commissioner responded by stating that they had not executed the search warrant yet. The commissioner argued that they had visited Zaman Park to remove encroachments, claiming that Imran Khan had given his consent for their removal.
Judge Demanded DIG Operations Appearance in Person
The judge questioned whether the police needed the search warrant, and the Investigation Officer (IO) replied that they needed some time to consult before providing further answers. The judge then adjourned the proceedings temporarily and summoned the DIG Operations to appear in person.
It is important to note that on May 18, the government team had insisted on searching the entire premises without any household member present, but the former premier demanded the implementation of the Lahore High Court’s order. According to Imran Khan, who spoke to the media after the government team left his residence, the Lahore High Court had permitted that “there will be one person from their side and one from ours, along with a female officer.”
The authorities removed encroachments in Zaman Park following the visit of the team led by the Lahore commissioner. Additionally, they called back the police officials deployed in the area.
The government team, consisting of Lahore Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa, DCO Rafia Haider, DIG Police Operations Sadiq Ali Dogar, SSP Sohaib Ashraf, and accompanied by search warrants, entered Zaman Park and held a meeting with Imran Khan to define the Terms of Reference (ToRs) for the search operation. The team spent a significant amount of time inside the premises but failed to reach an agreement.
The Controversial Drama Series ‘Tere Bin’ Receives Warning from PEMRA Amidst Marital Rape Debate
In a recent turn of events, the highly popular television drama series ‘Tere Bin’ has found itself at the center of a fresh controversy. The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has joined the growing list of critics expressing concern over the show. Starring Wahaj Ali and Yumna Zaidi in lead roles, the series ignited a social media uproar following an episode that subtly hinted at marital rape between the characters Murtasim [Wahaj] and Meerab [Yumna].
Following intense backlash, the specific episode underwent certain modifications, including “Whatsapp Quality” voiceovers. However, despite these edits, the impactful visuals remained intact, catching the attention of PEMRA, which has now issued an official warning against the show.
Within two days of the controversial episode airing on Geo Entertainment channel, PEMRA released a press statement via their official Twitter account, cautioning the creators of ‘Tere Bin’ against broadcasting “inappropriate” content that violates the organization’s regulations. The press release emphasized the violation in Episode 47 of the TV serial and highlighted the conflict with PEMRA’s guidelines established in 2015.
PEMRA Asked Remove or Conceal the Objectionable Content
PEMRA urgently asked producers to promptly remove or conceal the objectionable content and ensure that no future episodes include similar material. Additionally, the statement warned of severe consequences should the creators disregard any other regulations in the future.
PEMRA’s response to the issue generated mixed reactions on social media. Some have criticized the timing of the warning. They deem it “a little too late,”. While others acknowledged the power of social media activism. People have praised those who voiced their concerns against the negative depiction of marital rape, influencing the show’s storyline.
Directed by Siraj ul Haq, ‘Tere Bin’ boasts an exceptionally talented ensemble cast. The actors include Bushra Ansari, Sabeena Farooq, Sohail Sameer, and Hira Soomro in crucial roles. As the drama series continues to be embroiled in controversy. The actions taken by the show’s creators and PEMRA to address the contentious subject matter.
Rubina Ashraf, a renowned actor, recently shared her opinion on Yumna Zaidi’s performance in the TV series ‘Tere Bin’ during a local channel interview. Ashraf candidly expressed her views on Zaidi’s alleged lack of control over her character, which, in her opinion, failed to make a lasting impression. However, Ashraf acknowledged that the limitations might stem from the script rather than Zaidi herself.
During the interview, Ashraf remarked, ‘As an actor, Zaidi doesn’t impress me much because she seems to be going from one place to another, merely reciting what’s written. It’s not her fault, but it gives the impression of a confused character.’
When the host questioned Zaidi’s ability to shape her character in ‘Tere Bin’, Ashraf responded, ‘We can change it. I mentioned this before, perhaps you didn’t catch it. An actor, especially one with 15 years of experience, has the leeway to rectify minor aspects.’ She further cited examples of male actors like Imran Ashraf and Wahaj Ali, who take charge of the script. ‘I’m sure Murtasim [Ali] is doing it with his character, but [Zaidi] isn’t doing the same.’
Remarks Ignited a Debate
While Ashraf’s remarks ignited a debate in the industry and among fans, it is important to analyze the dynamics of requesting script changes, especially for women actors. In an entertainment industry where patriarchal norms often persist, female actors may encounter challenges when demanding alterations to their characters or scripts.
Historically, women in the industry have faced limitations and constraints in exercising creative control over their roles. Factors such as power dynamics, the influence of production teams, and societal expectations contribute to the perceived difficulty for women in advocating for script changes.
However, it is worth noting that the industry is evolving, with more female actors and creators asserting their agency and advocating for their artistic vision. A recently surfaced interview with Mawra Hocane showcased how the actor pushed for changes in ‘Qissa Meherbano Ka,’ resulting in a shift in the narrative following a particularly intense scene involving marital rape.”
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has secured a historic victory in the run-off election. He was able to extend his rule until 2028 despite facing significant challenges. Yet he overcame economic turmoil and a powerful opposition alliance. Erdogan celebrated his triumph with enthusiastic supporters in Ankara.
International leaders, including US President Joe Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin, expressed their support for Erdogan’s leadership. The election outcome has been hailed as a testament to Erdogan’s efforts to strengthen Turkiye’s sovereignty and pursue an independent foreign policy. While some opposition figures expressed concerns about the country’s future, Erdogan’s victory was widely celebrated both within Turkiye and around the world.
Erdogan’s success in the election marks an unprecedented achievement, considering the country’s economic crisis and the strong opposition he faced. The runner-up, Kemal Kilicdaroglu, viewed the election as a critical opportunity to prevent the consolidation of Erdogan’s power and the potential threat of autocracy. However, Kilicdaroglu’s attempts to appeal to nationalist sentiments and his alliance with a pro-Kurdish party were unable to counter Erdogan’s nationalist rhetoric and political narrative. Despite Turkiye’s challenging economic situation, Erdogan’s focus on social unity and development resonated with many voters, particularly those in rural areas.
Erdogan’s leadership has been controversial, with critics raising concerns about his crackdown on dissent and assertive foreign policies. Military interventions in Syria and strained relations with Western powers have drawn international criticism. Nevertheless, Erdogan’s popularity among certain segments of the population remains strong due to his efforts to improve living conditions and religious freedoms. However, the country’s economy poses a significant challenge for Erdogan, as inflation rates soared and the value of the Turkish lira plummeted. Analysts warn that Turkiye’s economic situation necessitates urgent measures, such as raising interest rates, to prevent further instability.
As Erdogan embarks on his extended term, the country faces a critical period that will test its economic resilience. It will also test the effectiveness of its governance. The international community will closely observe Turkiye’s actions and policies. Turkiye’s economy and foreign affairs is of central concern. Erdogan’s victory has sparked a mix of hope and concern. Under his leadership will undoubtedly have a significant impact both domestically and internationally

Islamabad: Pakistan’s economic growth has contracted to $341.5 billion, causing a decline in its per capita income to $1,568 in the previous fiscal year. This contraction was due to minimal economic growth and currency devaluation. Amidst this scenario, a controversy has emerged regarding the verified GDP growth rate.
According to provisional estimates approved by the National Accounts Committee (NAC) one day prior, the economy experienced a 9% contraction, resulting in a $34 billion decrease. Additionally, per capita income decreased by 11.2%, or $198.
Recent reports indicate that the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) management encountered significant pressure to alter the economic growth rate, projected initially to be a negative 0.5% for the previous fiscal year ending June 30. This information comes from government sources and newly obtained details.
Sources indicated that PBS management has reportedly given in to pressure and will display a growth rate of 0.3%, which is said to be nominally positive. However, the figure was subsequently stamped by NAC.
Post-Disaster Needs Assessment Reports
According to the Post-Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA) report on the 2022 floods, the government has reported that approximately one million livestock are believed to have perished.
Other sources contradicted the PBS report, calling into question the credibility of both the government and PBS. For example, PBS reported that only approximately 200,000 animals had perished during the summer floods.
In a surprising turn of events, the National Agriculture Commission (NAC) has approved a 3.8% growth rate for livestock. This figure has caught many off guard, surpassing the pre-flood growth rate of 2.3%. The credibility of the official economic growth rate of 0.29%, approved by the NAC on Wednesday, has been questioned due to a glaring contradiction.
According to sources, the country’s national data collecting agency, PBS, made a hasty decision to change the growth rate from negative to positive. This decision was made without a proper “working paper” being presented for approval by the NAC, marking the first time this has happened.
In a recent development, sources indicated that the NAC had approved the provisional economic growth rate. However, this decision was made based on a single presentation and, notably, without the working paper on the table.
During the outgoing fiscal year, the size of the economy and per capita income both experienced a decline in dollar terms, despite other factors. According to recent reports, the economy has experienced a decrease in size, dropping to $341.5 billion. The dropping represents a 9% decrease, equivalent to $33.9 billion less than the previous year.
Thanks to a record inflation rate in the country, the size of the economy in rupee terms has reached nearly Rs85 trillion in 2022-23, which is about Rs18 trillion higher than the previous fiscal year.
According to recent reports, the per capita income has experienced a decline from $1,766 to $1,568 in the last fiscal year. This represents a reduction of $198 or 11.2% per person. On the other hand, according to recent data, there has been a significant increase in per capita income in India. In fact, in rupee terms, per capita income has risen from Rs313,337 in 2021-22 to Rs388,755 in 2022-23. This represents a one-fourth increase, which can be attributed to inflation.
Pakistan Bureau of Statistics Suggests
Dr. Naeem ul Haq, the chief statistician at PBS, said there was no pressure on him to manipulate the figures. However, when questioned about the confirmation of the PBS producing working papers for NAC that indicated a negative 0.5% GDP growth for FY2022-23 but had not yet shared the report with the committee, he refused to answer.
PBS asked why Dr. Naeem did not present the working paper at the NAC meeting. However, he did not respond. PBS asked to comment and asked whether the government had threatened him to alter the number or face repercussions. According to Dr. Naeem, the statement made needed to be corrected.
According to sources from both PBS and the Ministry of Planning, PBS management was pressured to alter their figures.
A senior government official reported that the Ministry of Finance did not pressure the PBS. Therefore, according to the individual, the chief statistician should assume responsibility for the entire exercise.
According to another government official accused of pressuring the PBS, the Ministry of Finance has denied any interference in the organization’s operations, stating that it only provided data to the PBS.
The agriculture, food, livestock, and fisheries sectors sustained losses amounting to $3.7 billion, as reported by the PDNA report.
The reduction in food harvests and limited supply of livestock resulting from these losses have an adverse impact on the local food processing and slaughtering industries.
Additionally, the report anticipates a decrease of 0.7% of FY22 GDP in the industry sector value added. In contrast, the fishery sector experienced a growth of 1.44% according to the National Accounts Committee (NAC), surpassing the 0.4% growth observed in the previous year. Furthermore, it is worth noting that the floods did not cause any damage to this sector during the last year
Decline in the Industrial Sector
Despite a decline in the industrial sector, the electricity, gas, and water supply sectors have exhibited a growth rate of over 6%. On the other hand, according to sources, the construction sector has experienced a contraction of 5.5%, which is reportedly lower than the initial estimate made by PBS.
According to government officials, the education sector experienced a growth rate of 10.4%, marking a historic high. The previous record had a growth rate of 3.5%.
Reportedly, health services have experienced a growth of 8.5%, surpassing the 6.2% growth rate observed during the Covid-19 pandemic. In addition, recent data indicate that the increase in other services has exceeded that of last year, which is unusual as most of these services typically have a fixed growth rate based on the previous year.
The agriculture sector grew 1.6% despite a 41.1% decrease in cotton production, a 23% reduction in cotton ginning, a mere 2.8% growth in sugarcane, and a 21.5% decrease in rice output.
According to sources, 2.94% industrial sector has contracted. This is reportedly lower than the previously estimated negative output. According to recent reports, imports, essential crops, and manufacturing sectors have significantly contracted. However, the government has reported a negative growth of only 4.5% in the wholesale and retail sectors.
Prominent journalist and TV anchorperson Sami Ibrahim has been reported missing in the federal capital, as per recent developments on Thursday.
According to a statement issued by the Islamabad police, efforts are underway to search for and recover Ibrahim, but it is premature to draw any conclusions at this stage.
The statement also mentioned that the police are cooperating with the family of the senior journalist.
Meanwhile, Ibrahim’s brother Ali Raza lodged a complaint at Aabpara Police Station. He stated that four cars near Sixth Avenue, Sector G-6 abducted Ibrahim around 9 pm on Wednesday. This happened after he left his office and was heading home with his driver. The complainant further explained that a group of eight to ten unidentified men forcibly took Ibrahim. They also seized driver’s mobile phones and belonging, along with the car keys.
These events occur amidst a forceful crackdown by the state on the leadership, workers, and supporters of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) political party.
Media personnel have also faced repercussions from the state for expressing support for the popular political party or for speaking out against violations of civil liberties and judicial rights.
Journalists Imran Riaz Khan and Aftab Iqbal, both were ardent PTI supporters of PTI. They were previously detained earlier this month. While the whereabouts of Imran Riaz Khan are unknown, Aftab Iqbal has reportedly been released.
The disappearance of Ibrahim has sparked condemnation on social media platforms.
Senior journalist Moeed Pirzada questioned the international perception of Pakistan, highlighting the disappearance of prominent journalists. He specifically mentioned the case of Imran Riaz Khan. The police at Sialkot Airport apprehended him for 14 days. The police claim to be unaware of his current location.
Mazhar Abbas Raised Concerns
Mazhar Abbas, another senior journalist, raised concerns about the absence of a journalists’ protection commission, despite a law enacted in 2021 to safeguard journalists’ rights. He expressed distress over the disappearance of journalists Imran Riaz Khan and Sami Ibrahim, mentioning the previous incident involving the late Arshad Sharif.
Journalists in Pakistan often face the brunt of political crackdowns, with the country receiving significant criticism from global press freedom and human rights organizations for infringing upon freedom of speech and failing to ensure the safety of journalists. Pakistan currently ranks 150th out of 180 countries on the Reporters Without Borders (RSF) 2023 Press Freedom Index.
This marks the second time that Ibrahim has encountered hostility from “unidentified men.” In July 2022, unknown individuals reportedly attacked him and subjected him to torture outside his office in Islamabad. Ibrahim suffered minor injuries during the assault. He stated that the assailants were driving a vehicle with a “green-colored registration plate” and claimed that they had recorded the incident.
In the wake of a crackdown on PTI, several senior leaders of the former ruling party have resigned from their party positions. While some have chosen to part ways with the PTI, others have emphasized their intention to remain associated with the party despite stepping down. These developments come in the aftermath of the May 9 riots and subsequent arrests of party workers. The resignations highlight a growing divide within the PTI and raise questions about the impact of the recent events on the party’s popularity.
Asad Umar
Asad Umar, a close aide and head of former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s party, has stepped down from his party office. Unlike some of his former colleagues who have completely quit the party, Umar has decided to resign from his party positions while maintaining his affiliation with the PTI. Umar refuted claims of resigning “under pressure,” contradicting PTI chairman Imran Khan’s allegations that members were being coerced into leaving. In a press conference at the National Press Club, Umar called for the release of the arrested PTI workers and emphasized the need for a transparent inquiry into the May 9 riots.
Fawad Chaudhry
Fawad Chaudhry, the senior vice president of the PTI, has also announced his departure from Imran Khan’s side via a tweet. Chaudhry, who had been in jail for two days, expressed his condemnation of the May 9 incidents and stated his decision to take a break from politics. However, he did not provide further details or clarify his future plans.
Nadia Sher
Additionally, ex-MPA Nadia Sher from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has resigned from the PTI, citing her refusal to associate with a party that allegedly attacked military installations. Sher criticized former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for making independent decisions that contributed to the current crisis. She emphasized that her decision to leave the PTI was not influenced by any external pressure.
Usman Khan Tarakai
Meanwhile, in a separate development, MNA Usman Khan Tarakai has met with Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chief Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and announced his decision to join the PPP. He was previously affiliated with the PTI. Tarakai requested a public meeting in Swabi, and Bhutto-Zardari accepted it.
In Multan, former MPA Malik Saleem Akhtar Labar has returned his party ticket and announced his departure from the PTI due to the party’s alleged involvement in violent protests following Imran Khan’s arrest on May 9. Labar claimed that he had attempted to discourage party workers from engaging in violent protests but was unsuccessful. He clarified that his decision to leave the PTI was not influenced by any external pressure.

WhatsApp Introduces Message Editing Feature, Giving Users More Control Over Chats
WhatsApp, the popular messaging platform owned by Meta, has announced the long-awaited addition of a new feature: message editing. Starting this week, users will have the ability to edit their sent messages within a 15-minute window. The edited messages will appear in the chat with an “edited” label, without displaying the edit history.
In a statement, WhatsApp expressed their excitement about providing users with more control over their conversations, stating, “Whether it’s fixing a simple typo or adding important information to a message, we are thrilled to bring you this enhanced functionality.”
This move by WhatsApp follows a similar update made by Apple’s iMessage last year, which allowed users to make edits up to five times within a 15-minute timeframe after sending. However, unlike iMessage, WhatsApp will only permit one revision, as indicated in a video posted on the company’s Twitter account.
To access the editing feature, WhatsApp users can long-press on a specific message. The rollout of this feature has already begun globally and will become available to the platform’s massive user base of over 2 billion individuals over the next few weeks, according to the company.
In recent years, WhatsApp has introduced various privacy and commerce features to enhance user experience and compete with rivals such as Signal. One notable addition was the introduction of an “offline” mode in August, enabling users to read messages without revealing their online status to others.
With the introduction of the message editing feature, WhatsApp aims to provide users with a more flexible and convenient messaging experience, further solidifying its position as a leading messaging platform in the market.

The government specifically claims that Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, got land from a real estate magnate through the Al-Qadir Trust that was worth millions of dollars as a bribe.
