Imran Khan Calls for Anti-Government Movement After Muharram

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has directed his party to launch a nationwide PTI protest movement after the 10th of Muharram, according to his sister Aleema Khan. Speaking to media outside an anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi on Friday, Aleema relayed Imran’s firm stance against the government and the 27th Constitutional Amendment, saying he suggested a monarchy would be preferable to the proposed changes.

Movement Strategy Finalized

Aleema stated that preparations for the movement are complete. Imran has urged the public to “come out for their freedom” and has emphasized that imprisonment is better than submission. The PTI aims to initiate demonstrations at the district and provincial levels in the first phase of the movement.

Jail Conditions Spark Concern

Aleema also raised serious concerns about her brother’s prison conditions. She claimed Imran spends 22 hours daily in a cell with limited access to fresh air. According to her, he has not been allowed to speak to his sons for six months or access books. She described these restrictions as “inhumane and unlawful.”

Government Stance

The government has warned PTI against inciting violence, reiterating that peaceful protest is a constitutional right but unrest will not be tolerated. Responding to concerns over possible violence, Waqas Akram clarified that Gandapur’s comments about carrying weapons referred to the right of self-defence, not aggression.

Palestine Action Takes UK Government to Court Over Terror Ban

Palestine Action has taken legal action against the UK government over the recently imposed Palestine Action ban, which designates the group as a terrorist organization. On Friday, the group’s co-founder Huda Ammori appeared before London’s High Court, seeking an urgent pause on the proscription order set to take effect at midnight.

Legal Challenge to Terror Designation

British lawmakers voted this week to ban Palestine Action under anti-terrorism laws after members broke into a military base and damaged two aircraft. The government described the act as terrorism, equating the group with globally recognized organizations like ISIS and al-Qaeda.

However, Ammori’s legal team strongly rejected the label. Her lawyer, Raza Husain, argued that this is the first time a non-violent direct action group has been proscribed under such laws. “This is an ill-considered, discriminatory, authoritarian abuse of statutory power that is alien to the basic tradition of the common law,” Husain told the court.

Group’s Record of Protest

The UK government maintains that such actions threaten national security and public order. But critics argue that civil disobedience and property damage do not meet the legal threshold for terrorism. Human rights activists warn that using anti-terror laws in this context could set a dangerous precedent for suppressing dissent.

Awaiting Full Hearing

A full legal review of the government’s decision is scheduled for later this month. Until then, the group is seeking a temporary court order to delay enforcement of the ban. If unsuccessful, supporting or participating in Palestine Action’s activities would become a criminal offense starting at midnight.

The outcome of this legal battle could have significant implications for protest rights and civil liberties in the UK.

Lee Jung-jae Reveals ‘Squid Game’ Season 3 Alternate Ending

Lee Jung-jae, the star of Squid Game, has revealed that Gi-hun’s sacrifice in the finale of Season 3 wasn’t the only ending considered for his iconic character. The global hit series concluded its third and final season on June 27, 2025, leaving fans with an emotional farewell.

A Shocking Finale

In an interview with Variety, Lee shared his reaction to reading the script for the final season. “I was very shocked too,” he said. “It was not something I had expected to see.” Gi-hun, known as Player 456, had survived the brutal games in Seasons 1 and 2. However, in the final episode, he sacrifices himself to save the infant of Player 222, portrayed by Jo Yu-ri, during the climactic Sky Squid Game.

Alternate Endings Considered

Lee recalled deep conversations with director Hwang Dong-hyuk about the ending. However “I asked him, ‘Did you have different endings in mind?’ And he told me that he did,” Lee revealed. While several versions were considered, the director ultimately believed Gi-hun’s selfless act was the most meaningful conclusion for the series.

Symbolism Behind the Ending

The actor said the director encouraged him to look beyond the death itself. “He told me not to see Gi-hun’s sacrifice as just a sacrifice, but as something that symbolizes hope for humanity,” Lee explained. This perspective gave deeper emotional weight to Gi-hun’s decision and aligned with the show’s broader themes of morality, survival, and human dignity.

A Legacy Beyond the Game

Squid Game became a cultural phenomenon from its debut, with Lee’s portrayal of Gi-hun at its emotional core. The final season’s ending, though tragic, resonated with fans for its moral message and emotional intensity. As the curtain falls on Squid Game, Gi-hun’s final act stands as a powerful symbol of sacrifice and hope in a world built on desperation and fear.

‘Sprite’ Spotted from Space: ISS Crew Witnesses Rare Fireworks

From June 26 to July 4, 2025, the International Space Station (ISS) crew experienced a week filled with science, maintenance, and a spectacular view of Transient Luminous Events (TLEs)—rare electrical bursts above thunderstorms, seen from orbit.

A Stunning Sight from Orbit

On July 3, NASA astronaut Nichole Ayers captured a rare phenomenon while passing over Mexico and the U.S. She spotted a sprite, a type of TLE, flashing high above the clouds. Ayers shared the image on social media, writing, “Just. Wow.”

Sprites are bright, reddish bursts caused by intense lightning activity. They occur in the upper atmosphere and are often invisible from the ground. The ISS, hovering above the storms, offers an ideal vantage point to observe these mysterious flashes.

“These photos help scientists better understand the formation and characteristics of TLEs,” Ayers added.

Trump-Putin Call Yields No Progress as Ukraine Conflict Escalates

The Ukraine conflict continues to intensify as a phone call between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin failed to bring any diplomatic breakthrough.

Drone Attacks Escalate

Just hours after the call, Russia launched a massive drone strike on Kyiv, injuring 14 people and causing fires across six districts. Falling drone debris set ablaze residential areas and a medical facility in the Holosiivskyi district.

In response, Ukraine launched its own drone attack on Sergiyev Posad, near Moscow, damaging a power substation and injuring one person. The area is home to a key religious site for Russia’s Orthodox Church.

Frontline Developments

Ukraine’s military reported intensifying Russian strikes, including a deadly air raid on Poltava that killed two and injured 47. The attack also damaged a military draft office, which officials believe is part of a Russian strategy to disrupt Ukraine’s recruitment efforts.

Russia also claimed to have captured Milove in Kharkiv, opening a new front along the border. Ukrainian forces have yet to confirm the development.

High-Risk Tactics and Losses

A senior Ukrainian air commander warned that the lack of air defense supplies is forcing Ukraine into high-risk operations. This follows the death of an experienced F-16 pilot in a drone battle.

Russia Officially Recognizes Taliban Regime, Eyes Trade and Security Ties

In a historic and controversial decision, Russia officially recognized the Taliban government in Afghanistan on Thursday, making it the first country to do so since the group seized power in August 2021 following the chaotic US-led withdrawal.

The move came after Moscow accepted the credentials of a new Afghan ambassador sent by the Taliban, a significant diplomatic step that could reshape regional alliances and spark new global debates on engagement with the Afghan regime.

Russia’s Foreign Ministry announced the decision in a formal statement, citing the need to strengthen cooperation in security, trade, and counter-terrorism efforts. “We believe that the act of official recognition of the government of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan will give impetus to the development of productive bilateral cooperation,” the statement read.

Taliban Welcomes ‘Courageous’ Recognition

The Taliban administration responded with optimism and gratitude. Afghanistan’s acting Foreign Minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi, praised Russia’s decision, calling it a “courageous step” that could set a precedent for other countries.

“We value this courageous step taken by Russia, and, God willing, it will serve as an example for others as well,” Muttaqi said in a statement shared via state media.

So far, no other country has officially recognized the Taliban government, though China, UAE, Pakistan, and Uzbekistan have appointed ambassadors to Kabul—widely seen as moves toward informal recognition.

The Taliban views Russia’s decision as a breakthrough in its efforts to end international isolation and revive Afghanistan’s devastated economy through trade and diplomacy.

Trade, Energy, and Terrorism Top the Agenda

Moscow highlighted energy, agriculture, infrastructure, and counter-narcotics cooperation as key areas for strengthening bilateral ties. Russia also confirmed that it sees “good prospects” in developing trade and economic relations, pointing to Afghanistan’s growing demand for oil, gas, and wheat, much of which it already sources from Russia.

Security, however, remains a shared concern. Russia faces growing threats from Islamist militants across Central and South Asia, particularly ISIS-K, the Afghan branch of the Islamic State. The group was blamed for the March 2024 attack in Moscow, which killed 149 people at a concert hall. The Taliban, on its part, claims it is working to eradicate ISIS-K within Afghanistan.

In April this year, Russia lifted its long-standing ban on the Taliban, which had been designated as a terrorist group since 2003. President Vladimir Putin said in 2023 that the Taliban is now considered an “ally in fighting terrorism,” signaling a significant shift in Moscow’s foreign policy.

Global Response and Human Rights Concerns

The West is expected to closely monitor Russia’s recognition, especially the United States, which still enforces sanctions on senior Taliban leaders and controls billions in frozen Afghan assets. Washington has long maintained that recognition of the Taliban hinges on improvements in human rights, especially women’s rights.

Western governments and rights groups continue to condemn the Taliban’s crackdown on women. Under the current regime, girls are barred from high schools and universities, and women require male guardians for travel and public engagement. The Taliban defends its policies as aligning with its strict interpretation of Islamic law.

Still, Moscow appears willing to overlook these issues in favor of strategic cooperation, a stance that could influence other nations wary of isolating Afghanistan entirely. With the geopolitical landscape shifting, Russia’s move may pave the way for a new era of realpolitik diplomacy.

30 Indian-Sponsored Terrorists Killed in North Waziristan Infiltration Attempt

In a high-stakes security operation, Pakistan’s armed forces killed 30 terrorists affiliated with an “Indian proxy outfit” as they attempted to infiltrate the Pak-Afghan border in Hassan Khel tehsil, North Waziristan, the military’s media wing confirmed on Friday.

According to a statement by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the movement of the heavily armed group—identified as members of Fitna al Khawarij, a term the state uses for the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP)—was detected during the nights of July 2 and 3.

“All 30 Indian-sponsored khawarij were sent to hell,” the ISPR said, crediting the military’s “precise and skilful engagement” in neutralizing the threat. The slain militants reportedly carried a large cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives, suggesting they intended to carry out large-scale attacks inside Pakistan.

India’s Alleged Hand in Sponsoring Proxy Terrorism

The ISPR categorically stated that the terrorists were operating under Indian support, reigniting concerns over foreign interference in Pakistan’s internal security. The ISPR described them as part of “Fitna al Khawarij,” an Indian proxy working to destabilize the region.

The military’s statement also called on the Afghan interim government to act decisively and prevent Afghan soil from being used by “foreign proxies” for cross-border terrorism against Pakistan. The demand reflects growing frustration in Islamabad over Kabul’s failure to curb TTP operations inside Afghanistan.

Pakistan has repeatedly raised this issue in bilateral and multilateral forums, but attacks from across the border have continued. The country, which now ranks second in the Global Terrorism Index 2025, has seen a resurgence in terrorist violence, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, following the TTP’s withdrawal from a ceasefire agreement in late 2022.

Hollywood Tough Guy Michael Madsen Dies at 67

National Leadership Salutes Armed Forces’ Bravery

Top government leaders, including President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, praised the security forces for their swift and effective response.

President Zardari, in a statement, lauded the soldiers’ “bravery” and reaffirmed Pakistan’s “unwavering resolve to eliminate terrorism.” He said operations like this highlight the army’s critical role in national defense and stability.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also issued a strong statement, saying, “The entire nation salutes the security forces. Pakistan’s courageous military is standing like a solid wall to protect its citizens.” He added that the state will not rest until terrorism is eradicated completely.

Infiltration Foiled Amid Broader Anti-Terror Campaign

This successful operation comes just days after security forces killed two terrorists in Balochistan’s Duki district, showcasing intensified efforts to secure Pakistan’s borders and internal regions.

While militant violence slightly declined in June 2025, according to the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), incidents like the Hassan Khel infiltration attempt underscore the persistent threat from groups like TTP.

As Pakistan continues its fight against India-sponsored proxy terrorism, Friday’s operation marks a significant victory. The military has vowed to continue its efforts with full force to protect national sovereignty.

“Our security forces remain resolute,” the ISPR said. “We will not allow anyone to harm our motherland.”

Hollywood Tough Guy Michael Madsen Dies at 67

Hollywood has lost one of its grittiest icons. Michael Madsen, the actor known for his razor-edged performances in Reservoir Dogs, Kill Bill, and Donnie Brasco, died of cardiac arrest at his Malibu home on Thursday. He was 67.

Madsen’s death was confirmed by his manager, Ron Smith, who called him “one of the last real ones in a town full of facades.” Known for his raw energy, low growl, and screen presence that screamed menace and mystery, Madsen carved out a niche that made him unforgettable — even if he never claimed leading man status.

Though he may never have been the face on a Marvel poster, Madsen had a filmography that dwarfs many A-listers: 346 acting credits, according to IMDb. From mob bosses to bouncers, cowboys to cops, he embodied a brand of masculinity that felt ripped from a black-and-white noir reel — and viewers loved him for it.

Reservoir Dogs, Kill Bill, and a Legacy of Violence

Madsen first etched himself into cinematic history with Quentin Tarantino’s breakout crime film, Reservoir Dogs (1992). As Mr. Blonde, the sadistic criminal who danced while torturing a bound police officer, Madsen delivered a performance that was as disturbing as it was iconic.

It wasn’t just the razor or the “Stuck in the Middle With You” soundtrack — it was the calm. That ice-cold stillness before violence. It became his trademark.

Tarantino brought him back again and again — in Kill Bill: Vol. 1 & 2, where Madsen played Budd, the washed-up assassin who buries Uma Thurman alive, and in The Hateful Eight, as the mysterious cowboy Joe Gage.

Even outside Tarantino’s universe, Madsen shined. In Donnie Brasco (1997), he played mob boss Sonny Black, holding his own against Al Pacino and Johnny Depp. And in Thelma & Louise (1991), he proved he could soften up too — showing real tenderness as Susan Sarandon’s Elvis-esque boyfriend.

From Free Willy to Mulholland Falls, he slipped between genres, but always brought the same gritty authenticity.

An Actor Who Lived Like He Played — Rough but Real

Born in Chicago in 1957, Madsen had humble beginnings: working as a mechanic and paramedic before falling into acting through a chance encounter with John Malkovich. That moment led him to Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre and eventually Hollywood.

While he never fully shook off his typecast as the “bad guy,” Madsen didn’t seem to mind — unless the script lacked depth. “If you think I’m just a trigger-puller, then don’t hire me,” he once said. “But if you want complexity behind the eyes, I’m your man.”

His personal life echoed his film characters — complex and at times chaotic. In 2022, tragedy struck when his son Hudson died by suicide. He also faced a domestic battery charge in 2023, though it was later dropped.

Despite the drama, Madsen always returned to his roots — his family, his love for old Westerns, and his deep admiration for classic anti-heroes. “I’m not that guy people see on screen,” he once told The Hollywood Reporter. “I’m a dad. I wear pajamas. I watch The Rifleman.”

Madsen is survived by his wife, DeAnna, his children Christian, Max, Luke, and Calvin, his mother, and sisters Virginia and Cheryl. His sister Virginia Madsen is also a respected actor, best known for her Oscar-nominated role in Sideways.

As fans revisit his unforgettable scenes — that eerie warehouse dance, the buried-alive coffin, the mob negotiations gone wrong — one thing is clear: Michael Madsen didn’t just play tough guys. He defined them.

Five Killed, Seven Injured in Karachi’s Lyari Building Collapse

KARACHI: A five-storey residential building collapsed in the Baghdadi area of Lyari on Friday, killing at least five people and injuring seven others. Rescue operations are underway, with several individuals still believed to be trapped beneath the rubble.

Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab confirmed that seven people lost their lives in the tragic incident. Rescue workers pulled out four bodies and six injured individuals from the debris, but one of the rescued — a 40-year-old woman — later succumbed to her injuries at Civil Hospital’s Trauma Centre.

According to the South Deputy Commissioner, six families were living in the building. Officials fear that 25 to 30 people were inside when the structure came down. Access roads were blocked, delaying the arrival of heavy machinery, and local residents initially began rescue efforts on their own.

Mobile phone signal suspensions further hampered communication and coordination efforts. Rescue teams, however, continue working through the night, despite these challenges. Two adjacent buildings — one seven-storey and another two-storey — were evacuated as a precaution.

SBCA Knew the Building Was Dangerous

According to the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA), the building was over 30 years old and had already been declared structurally unsafe. Officials claim multiple notices were issued to residents, urging them to vacate the premises.

But residents strongly dispute this, saying no warnings were ever given. Locals also say the building remained fully occupied, with three portions on every floor. A relative of the building’s owner told Geo News that her family lived on the fourth floor, and that her son died in the collapse while three other family members remain missing.

The collapse has reignited scrutiny over Karachi’s crumbling infrastructure. The SBCA revealed that there are currently 578 buildings declared unsafe across the city — with District South housing the largest share. Mayor Wahab admitted that in the Old City area alone, 434 buildings are listed as hazardous.

He stressed that while these structures are dangerous, forcibly evacuating people is difficult due to housing shortages. Wahab also confirmed that all available machinery had been sent to Lyari and said action would be taken against responsible officials after the rescue phase concludes.

PM, Governor React as Officials Face Suspension

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives, offered prayers for the deceased, and instructed that the injured be provided the best possible care. He also directed authorities to speed up rescue efforts and demanded a long-term strategy to prevent such disasters in future.

Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori also voiced concern and ordered that all available resources be deployed in the rescue operation. He warned that any negligence would not be tolerated and demanded accountability from the concerned departments.

Meanwhile, the Sindh Local Government Department has formed a high-level committee to investigate the incident. The committee must identify negligent SBCA officers within three days.

Sindh’s Local Government Minister has already suspended several officials, pending the investigation’s outcome. As Karachi mourns yet another preventable disaster, questions about weak enforcement and housing safety continue to grow louder.

We’re Going to Know in Next 24hrs About Gaza Ceasefire, Says Trump

US President Donald Trump, after addressing a rally in Iowa on Wednesday, told reporters at an airbase that “we are going to know over the next 24 hours” whether Hamas will agree to the latest US-backed ceasefire proposal in Gaza. The comment has intensified speculation that a temporary halt to the nearly 21-month-long Israel-Hamas war may finally be in sight.

Trump said Israel had accepted the terms for a 60-day ceasefire deal, which includes provisions to work toward a permanent end to the conflict. “We’re doing everything to push this forward,” Trump added. The United States, acting as a key mediator in the process, has been actively pressuring both sides to halt hostilities amid growing international outrage over the rising civilian death toll.

On the other side, Hamas is still holding consultations with other Palestinian factions. A source close to the group told Al Jazeera that Hamas is demanding strong guarantees that the ceasefire will eventually lead to a complete end to the war—not just another temporary pause.

Hamas Wants Written Guarantees, Final Call Awaited

Despite positive signals from Washington and Tel Aviv, Hamas has not yet confirmed its acceptance of the proposal. The group appears deeply cautious, reportedly seeking binding commitments that the ceasefire will not simply be a “pause before another storm.”

Two Israeli officials, speaking anonymously, confirmed that some final terms and mechanisms were still being negotiated. According to them, the broad contours are in place, but the implementation timeline and dispute resolution processes remain under discussion.

In a statement early Friday, Hamas said it had received the latest proposal and was reviewing it with various Palestinian factions. “Once internal consultations conclude, we will submit our unified response to the mediators,” the group stated.

Meanwhile, Israeli air raids have continued across Gaza, with medical sources saying dozens more Palestinians were killed in the past 24 hours. The violence underscores the urgency for a truce as humanitarian conditions continue to deteriorate rapidly.

UNRWA Warns of Humanitarian Collapse, Urges Ceasefire

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) has also ramped up pressure, saying a ceasefire is not just needed—it’s desperately needed. UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini told CNN that “people’s lives and dignity are under attack every day” in Gaza.

Lazzarini stressed that UNRWA is prepared to scale up operations as soon as a truce is in place. “We have the systems, the expertise, and the will,” he added, while warning that time is running out for Gaza’s civilian population.

So far, the Biden administration—along with regional partners Egypt and Qatar—has been pushing behind the scenes to make the ceasefire a reality.

The next 24 hours are crucial. If Hamas agrees and all sides follow through, the region could finally see its first extended period of calm in nearly two years. But if the deal collapses, the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza will only deepen.

Gaza’s Civil Defence Urges Comprehensive Truce Amid Deadly Khan Younis Strikes

As Israeli bombardment intensifies in southern Gaza, Gaza’s Civil Defence spokesperson Mahmoud Basal has issued an urgent appeal to international mediators. In a public statement shared via Telegram, Basal called for an immediate and comprehensive humanitarian truce across the Gaza Strip, warning that civilians continue to suffer the brunt of the war.

“Civilians are not a party to this war, and they must not pay the price for delayed political understandings,” Basal stated. He added that lives remain trapped under the rubble, the wounded lack access to medicine, and tens of thousands of displaced families have nowhere safe to shelter.

His plea comes at a time when negotiations for a ceasefire remain stalled, despite growing international pressure on both Israel and Hamas to reach an agreement. Basal emphasized the need for a humanitarian pause to allow rescue operations, medical assistance, and aid deliveries to reach those in desperate need.

Israeli Strikes Kill at Least 15 in Khan Younis

In one of the deadliest nights in recent weeks, at least 15 Palestinians were killed in a series of Israeli attacks on Khan Younis, a city in southern Gaza. According to local journalist Tareq Abu Azzoum, the attacks targeted makeshift tents in the al-Mawasi area, which had been previously designated a humanitarian safe zone.

Eyewitnesses reported that Israeli fighter jets and helicopters hovered at low altitudes, triggering sonic booms before launching a wave of missile strikes on densely populated areas. Homes and tents were destroyed as people scrambled for safety in the middle of the night.

“We woke up to the sound of explosions,” said one resident. “The buildings were shaking. Children were screaming. It was like an earthquake.”

This escalation follows what Israeli military officials described as a serious incident involving Palestinian armed factions ambushing an Israeli ground unit operating inside Khan Younis. In response, Israeli forces launched heavy retaliatory strikes to cover the evacuation of their personnel.

Crisis Deepens as Humanitarian Conditions Collapse

With temperatures rising and infrastructure nearly obliterated, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues to spiral. Basic services such as clean water, food supplies, and electricity are unavailable in many parts of the strip. Relief workers say many wounded are dying not from their injuries but from the lack of medical treatment.

Basal’s call for a truce is one of many issued by local and international officials in recent days. Aid agencies are also warning that the situation is on the verge of complete collapse, with children and the elderly most at risk.

As Gaza mourns the dead in Khan Younis and other areas, families hold funeral prayers in hospital courtyards. With no end in sight to the bombardment, civilians are again paying the price for political deadlock.

Trump Takes Victory Lap in Iowa After House Passes Major Bill, Slams Democrats, and Mocks Iran

The US President Donald Trump kicked off a year-long celebration of America’s 250th anniversary in Iowa on Thursday with fireworks, fanfare, and plenty of political fire. The “Salute to America” event in Des Moines doubled as a victory lap for the passage of his sweeping legislative agenda — the One Big Beautiful Bill Act — just hours before he took the stage.

Trump, energized by the moment, praised the bill’s approval and framed it as a turning point in America’s future. “This is a declaration of independence from a national decline,” he said, adding, “We were a laughingstock. Now, we’re winning again.”

The new legislation extends Trump’s 2017 tax cuts, eliminates taxes on tipped wages, and injects $150 billion each into border security and defense programs, including a “Golden Dome” missile shield. It also aims to boost shipbuilding and military readiness. Supporters cheered its provisions, especially those related to immigration and national defense.

But Democrats criticized the bill for gutting social safety nets. To offset the cost of the tax breaks and military spending, the package slashes funding for low-income health and nutrition programs — cuts the Congressional Budget Office says could leave millions without coverage.

Unbothered by the backlash, Trump leaned into his base. “We had a man as president who shouldn’t have been there,” he said, referencing his 2020 rival. “Now, we’re back to making America strong, proud, and free again.”

“I Hate Them, Too”: Trump Unleashes on Democrats, Iran

In classic Trump fashion, the former president didn’t shy away from controversy. He launched into a harsh attack on Democrats, accusing them of obstruction and disloyalty. “Not one Democrat voted for us,” Trump said. “They hate Trump. But I hate them, too. I really do. I think they hate our country.”

Trump’s remarks continued a pattern of incendiary rhetoric, having previously called Democrats the “enemy from within” and “scum.” His verbal barbs drew cheers from the Iowa crowd but also reignited criticism about his polarizing tone and authoritarian leanings.

He also turned his attention to Iran, mocking the country’s recent missile response to U.S. strikes on its nuclear facilities. Trump joked that Iran gave him advance notice before firing on a U.S. base in Qatar.

“They called me and said, ‘We’re going to shoot at you 14 times.’ And I said, go ahead,” he claimed. “All 14 missiles were shot down. Routine. Just another Thursday.”

Despite the ridicule, Trump hinted at diplomacy, stating that Iran “wants to meet.” He said his Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, is already in discussions. “If necessary, I’ll do it. I’ll meet,” he said, suggesting he may return to the negotiating table — but on his own terms.

Gaza Fuel Crisis Deepens: Basic Services Crippled, Health Risks Soar

Farmers, Fireworks, and Flashbacks

Trump also addressed immigration with a nod to Iowa’s farmers, acknowledging the tension between his deportation agenda and the agricultural industry’s reliance on undocumented workers.

“We want all the criminals out, everybody agrees,” Trump said. “But some of these farmers have had people working for them for years.” He offered a solution: allow farmers to vouch for their undocumented workers, essentially giving them an exemption.

“If a farmer is willing to vouch, that’s going to be good with us,” he added. “Serious radical right people — who I like — may not be happy, but they’ll understand.”

The comments signal a strategic pivot as Trump courts rural voters while trying not to alienate his hardline immigration base. The flexibility drew some applause but also raised eyebrows about enforcement consistency.

Midway through his speech, a firework exploded in the distance, prompting Trump to briefly pause — and flash back. Almost a year ago, on July 13, Trump survived an assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where he was grazed by a bullet.

“It’s only fireworks, I hope. Famous last words,” he joked, visibly unsettled. “You always have to think positive. I didn’t like that sound either.”

The near-assassination has since become a key part of Trump’s narrative, painting himself as a survivor who “took a bullet for America.” He’s scheduled to discuss the incident in an exclusive interview with Lara Trump, his daughter-in-law and Fox News host, to be aired next week.

9 Injured Gaza Children Evacuated to Jordan for Life-Saving Surgery

In a rare moment of relief amid the unrelenting violence in Gaza, nine severely injured children have been evacuated to Jordan for reconstructive surgery and long-term rehabilitation, Doctors Without Borders (MSF) announced on Wednesday.

The evacuation mission was conducted in collaboration with the Jordanian Ministry of Health and marks one of the few successful international medical transfers since the beginning of Israel’s brutal assault on Gaza. The children, all victims of Israeli air strikes, arrived at a specialized hospital in Jordan that offers treatments no longer available in Gaza due to the health system’s collapse.

“These children have survived the unthinkable. But now begins a new chapter—one that requires not just surgery, but years of recovery,” said Cyril Cappai, MSF’s Head of Mission in Jordan.

War Wounds Run Deep: Surgery, Rehab, and Mental Health

The injuries sustained by these children go far beyond what emergency aid can treat. MSF said the young patients require advanced reconstructive surgery, physiotherapy, and mental health support to have any hope of returning to a semblance of normal life.

“Some of them have multiple fractures, deep burns, or internal wounds. And all of them carry the psychological scars of war,” Cappai emphasized. “Their bodies may one day heal, but their minds will need just as much care.”

Health experts stress that this group represents only a tiny fraction of thousands of injured children in Gaza. With the enclave’s health sector in ruins—hospitals bombed, power shut off, medicine running out—most children remain untreated and in agony.

MSF called the evacuation a “small but critical intervention” and urged the international community to increase pressure for more humanitarian corridors and medical evacuations.

Gaza’s Health System Near Collapse as War Continues

Since the start of Israel’s assault on Gaza, hospitals have been overwhelmed, and thousands of children have suffered life-altering injuries. Humanitarian organizations say the health system is no longer functional, with doctors operating in makeshift conditions and no fuel to run medical equipment.

More than 36,000 Palestinians have been killed, many of them women and children, with survivors left in shattered homes and limbless bodies.

“This evacuation is not a solution,” said one Jordanian doctor. “It is a reminder of how many are left behind. We’re only scratching the surface of the suffering in Gaza.”

As the war drags on and aid remains restricted, groups like MSF continue to call for a ceasefire, unrestricted humanitarian access, and global accountability. In the meantime, for these nine children, the road to healing has just begun—but at least they now have a chance.

Gaza Fuel Crisis Deepens: Basic Services Crippled, Health Risks Soar

The Gaza Municipality has issued a stark warning as fuel shortages paralyze essential services across the besieged enclave. Officials said they have been forced to significantly reduce vital operations, including waste collection and water distribution, due to the ongoing blockade and lack of fuel.

In a public statement, the municipality described the situation as a “real, worsening, and dangerous disaster,” aggravated by continuous displacement and massive trash buildup in refugee camps and neighborhoods. The city’s infrastructure, already battered by months of Israeli bombardment, now teeters on the brink of complete collapse.

Local authorities urged international aid agencies and humanitarian organizations to urgently intervene. “The international community cannot stay silent as Gaza sinks into darkness and disease,” a municipal official stated.

Public Health Crisis in Sweltering Summer

The fuel crisis comes at a time when Gaza is already grappling with extreme heat and minimal humanitarian aid. With only a trickle of relief trucks allowed in daily, the 2.3 million residents face growing threats to their health and survival.

Malnourishment is widespread, especially among children. Families are living in overcrowded tents or damaged buildings with little access to clean drinking water. Waste piles up rapidly, attracting insects and rodents, while the lack of sanitation makes the spread of diseases like cholera, hepatitis, and skin infections almost inevitable.

“There’s no clean water. Trash is everywhere. We are living among disease,” said Fatima, a displaced mother of four sheltering in a school-turned-refugee center. Doctors Without Borders and other humanitarian groups have warned that the situation could spiral into a full-scale public health emergency if fuel and aid are not allowed in immediately.

No End in Sight Without Global Pressure

Despite repeated warnings from aid agencies and health experts, fuel shipments remain restricted. Israel continues to impose tight control over what enters Gaza, citing security concerns. Meanwhile, Rafah crossing remains largely shut, and the United Nations has warned that Gaza is “one step away from famine.”

The municipality says without immediate intervention, services like sewage management, hospital power generators, and clean water delivery may cease entirely within days. That would push an already dire humanitarian disaster into uncharted territory.

Experts stress that without a political breakthrough or global pressure to lift the siege, Gaza’s collapse will accelerate. “It’s not just about fuel—it’s about human dignity and survival,” said a UN official stationed in southern Gaza.

KSE-100 Hits Record High as PSX Rally Gains Momentum

The PSX rally continued its upward trend on Thursday, with the KSE-100 Index closing at a new all-time high of 130,686.66 points, gaining 342.63 points or 0.26%. Earlier in the day, the index reached an intra-day high of 131,325.10, reflecting investor confidence and bullish momentum.

Strong Fundamentals Fuel Market Optimism

Analysts credited the sustained rally to aggressive institutional buying, robust earnings forecasts, and positive macroeconomic indicators. These factors have supported the market’s record-breaking performance in recent sessions.

On Wednesday, the KSE-100 had surpassed the 130,000-point milestone for the first time, jumping by 2,144 points (1.67%) to close at 130,344 points, a historic achievement for Pakistan’s stock market.

Sector-Wise Performance

According to Topline Securities, the market saw pressure from some key stocks, including BAHL, MCB, MEBL, HBL, and MTL, which collectively pulled the index down by 493 points. However, strong performances from OGDC, UBL, and HUBC helped offset the losses by contributing 353 points to the index.

Global Market Impact

International markets also showed mixed trends. Asian stocks edged higher, with investors awaiting a crucial US jobs report and the final approval of a massive tax and spending bill in the US Congress. Wall Street closed at record highs after President Trump announced a trade deal with Vietnam, and talks with India are also underway.

MSCI’s Asia-Pacific index rose 0.2%, while China’s blue-chip stocks gained modestly. In contrast, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng dropped 0.6% after weak services data.

Currency and Market Activity

The Pakistani rupee appreciated slightly by Re0.09, closing at 283.86 against the US dollar.

Total volume on the all-share index declined to 899.85 million shares, with a reduced trading value of Rs43.25 billion.

Trump-Munir Meeting Redefines US-Pakistan Military Diplomacy

In a powerful display of military diplomacy, U.S. President Donald Trump hosted Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, for a private lunch at the White House on June 18, 2025. The highly symbolic meeting broke diplomatic precedent, highlighting Washington’s shifting priorities in a complex geopolitical landscape.

A Historic Engagement

Field Marshal Munir, not a head of state, was granted an hour-long appointment that extended to more than two hours. Initially a one-on-one with Trump, the meeting later included senior U.S. cabinet members. The gathering marked the first time a U.S. president has met privately with a foreign military commander in this manner.

Why This Meeting Matters

Washington has traditionally emphasized civilian partnerships in Pakistan. However, this meeting underscored a reality long understood but rarely acknowledged: Pakistan’s military holds the real reins of power. Trump’s direct engagement with Munir publicly recognized that dynamic.

Regional Calculations at Play

The timing was no coincidence. Tensions between India and Pakistan had recently escalated. According to insiders, Trump’s private outreach to Munir played a role in de-escalating hostilities between the two nuclear-armed neighbors. The meeting also addressed Afghanistan, Iran, and the broader South Asian security picture.

India and Iran Watch Closely

For New Delhi, the optics were unsettling. Despite years of cultivating U.S. goodwill, India witnessed Trump embracing Pakistan’s top general — a sign that Washington still sees Islamabad as a critical partner in security matters. Iran, too, featured in the discussions, with sources claiming Trump and Munir coordinated efforts that contributed to halting the recent 12-day Iran-Israel war.

Symbolism and Access

In a final, unprecedented gesture, Trump presented Field Marshal Munir with the symbolic Gold Key of the White House — a sign of personal trust and open access. Previously, only Elon Musk had received this honor, which he later returned. Now, Munir stands as the sole holder of this unique symbol of American outreach.

This meeting, and its message, will echo across capitals from Islamabad to Beijing.

Putin Tells Trump Russia Won’t Back Down in Ukraine Conflict

Russian President Vladimir Putin told former U.S. President Donald Trump in a phone call that Russia will not abandon its goals in the Ukraine conflict, according to a Kremlin statement on Thursday. The nearly hour-long conversation came amid growing global concern over stalled peace efforts and a pause in U.S. arms shipments to Kyiv.

Russia Holds Firm on Military Goals

Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov said Putin made it clear that Moscow remains committed to its original objectives in Ukraine. These include addressing what Russia calls the “root causes” of the war—chiefly Ukraine’s NATO ambitions. Despite ongoing combat and high casualties since the invasion began in 2022, Moscow insists it will press forward.

“Russia will achieve its aims,” Ushakov quoted Putin. “We will not give up.”

Dialogue Still on the Table

However, the Kremlin noted that Putin also conveyed a willingness to resume talks. “He expressed readiness for continued political and negotiated solutions,” Ushakov said, though recent months have seen Russia reject multiple U.S.-backed ceasefire proposals.

US Military Aid on Hold

The call came shortly after Washington paused critical weapons shipments to Ukraine, citing low stockpiles. According to Reuters and Financial Times reports, Trump has become increasingly frustrated with the lack of progress in talks and the growing costs of U.S. support.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, currently in Denmark to meet European allies, warned that uncertainty over U.S. support weakens Ukraine’s defense. He reiterated support for what he described as Trump’s proposed “unconditional ceasefire” plan and called for more cooperation with NATO.

More Losses on the Ground

On the same day as the call, Kyiv reported that Russian airstrikes killed at least eight civilians. Meanwhile, Ukrainian officials confirmed that Trump and Zelensky are expected to speak on Friday.

During the phone call, Putin also criticized U.S. military actions in the Middle East and urged for diplomatic solutions, especially following American strikes on Iranian nuclear sites, a move that further strains U.S.-Russia ties.
